Peppermint Bark Pretzels


Who says you have to be a great cook to whip up a festive holiday treat for your friends and neighbors? Here’s a simple, three ingredient recipe that looks just as great as it tastes, and makes an easy and fabulous gift!


All you need is:

  • 1 box of large sourdough pretzels
  • 1 package of white chocolate melts (I love the Ghirardelli brand!)
  • 4-5 candy canes

First, you’ll need to go through the pretzels and pull out the best looking (i.e., unbroken) ones. My box had about 10 that weren’t broken, and my kids were happy to snack on the bits and pieces that were left over. You’ll have enough chocolate to cover 8-10 pretzels.

Unwrap the candy canes and use a mallet or rolling pin to crush them into small pieces.

Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, following the directions on the package. Stir frequently and, if it’s a bit too sticky or thick, you can add a teaspoon of butter to make it easier to work with.

Dip the pretzels in the chocolate. I laid them face down to coat the front, pressing down to get the chocolate in all the nooks and crannies, then flipped them to coat the back.

Lay the coated pretzel onto a cookie sheet covered with wax paper and sprinkle with crushed candy cane bits. Repeat until all your pretzels are coated and sprinkled.

Put the cookie sheet into the freezer for about 10 minutes so the chocolate will set nicely.

Then you can package them up all pretty!

To create my box, I used a plain white gift box and cut patterned papers from the North Pole collection to fit the panels on each side of the box lid. Then I used the Chevron Washi Tape (in Tomato) to cover the corners and edges.treatbox-washi-detail

Inside, I packed some food-safe tissue paper and carefully arranged my pretzels.treatbox-packed

To finish it off, I added an embossed sticker and tied on a tag using baker’s twine. Then I slipped an extra candy cane under the tag.treatbox-tag-detailtreats-plate
