Christmas Pillow Boxes with Star Tags

Hello, Samantha here with you to share another way to wrap up some Christmas presents. Today I’m going to be using the Template Studio to create some Christmas pillow boxes with star tags. I have to confess, my husband does most of the wrapping at our house. I don’t really enjoy doing it, and I’m not very good at it either…but making pretty packaging with the Template Studio is so much fun!

To create pillow boxes, you’ll need the Pillow Box Guide and for the star tags, you’ll need the Star Guide. WRMK’s has released some great designer poster board for Christmas, I chose Candy Cane and Snowflake. I love how red and aqua look together!

I am wrapping some t-shirts in these boxes, so I chose to make a medium sized box. The finished size is 5 ¼ x 14 x 2, so you start by cutting the poster board to 13 x 16 (you can get 2 pillow boxes of this size per piece of designer poster board).

The pillow box is a super easy box to make. You just score along the top side of the guide and cut along the bottom side.

When everything is cut and scored, it’s important to use a good, strong adhesive when assembling the box. I really like the Sticky Thumb Sticky Thumb Double Sided Tape. It comes in ¼” and ½” widths, is super strong, and can be torn off the roll (no scissors needed!).

Once they’re assembled it’s time to decorate them. I decided to use leftover strips of designer poster board as wraps around the boxes.

I finished up by using the Template Studio Star Guide to make gift tags for the boxes. The Star Guide makes 4 different sized stars. I made the smallest size star for my tags.

You can attach the stars directly to the pillow box with some Sticky Thumb Adhesive Dots, or you can tie them on using some Baker’s Twine or Raffia.

These Christmas pillow boxes with star tags are now sitting under the tree all ready for gifting. This is definitely some wrapping I don’t mind doing. Do you like to wrap gifts, or is creating packaging like this something you prefer?
