Celebrate Cupcake Toppers

Welcome to Alpha Week, We R fans! This week we’re sharing projects from our design team that feature letters of all forms, shapes, and sizes. You’ll see letter stickers, Thickers, and even some projects with our new Mini Alphabet Punch Board! So sit back, grab a drink, and enjoy some awesome ABC inspiration!

Hello, We R Memory Keepers readers, Laura here today with some fun cupcake toppers you can easily customize for any party occasion. These cupcake toppers will give you a reason to celebrate any time!

Celebrate Cupcake Toppers by Laura Silva 1

To start creating these cupcake toppers, you will use a 2 inch scalloped circle punch to create cut outs of acetate sheets from the Clearly Posh collection. I used the Confetti Dots with Gold Foil and the Confetti Dots with Silver Foil. I love the acetate sheets. They are clear with a pattern on them, so they work perfect for overlays.

I added black Thickers chipboard letter stickers to the top of my punch outs, alternating the gold foil and silver foil for every other letter to spell out ‘CELEBRATE’. You could spell out any word you want on your cupcake toppers.

I then cut out more scallop circles using my punch from Mylar gold and silver cardstock sheets. These Mylar sheets are amazing. They are either gold or silver on both sides of the sheet. I have seen some gold cardstock that is gold on one side and silver on the other.

I applied double-sided red tape to the top edge of a lollipop stick for each letter. Peel off the red backing and attach the stick to the back of the acetate sheet and the front of the mylar sheet.

Insert the cupcake toppers into your cupcakes and you are ready to celebrate! You could change up the look of these toppers really easily by changing the color or style of the Thickers letters, or even the background color of the Mylar sheet. You could use numbers from the Thickers sheets to celebrate a particular birthday, you could spell out a name, or any party themed word.

Beach Ball Garland

Hello! Eva Pizarro here today on the blog showing you a fun garland inspired by this week’s theme: The Beach. When I think of the beach I think bright sunny colors and lots of fun! That’s why I created a super easy beach ball garland using my  DIY Party Globe Punch and some cardstock.

Beach Ball Garland by Eva Pizarro 1

To make the garland I started with a 4 x 7 ½  inch white paper. The punch is very easy to use, just follow the instructions sheet that comes with your tool. Here are some quick photos of how I made mine.

Align the paper to the center of the punch. Press and move your paper left to the next alignment guide, punch again and move left to the raised V on base. Punch all your paper. Rotate your paper 180 degrees and do the same with the other side.

To add a bit of color I punched some pink, yellow and blue papers and separated each punched panel. I glued them to my white cardstock globe with some string glue adhesive. If you want you can use paint to add color too!

Assembly the bottom of the globe by interlocking the hooks behind each other

On the top, interlock the hooks around the LED cord.

Continue this process and cover all your LED lights with beach balls

Isn’t this garland cute? You can use them as a summer decor or maybe for a party! If you want you can punch out some shapes on the garland panels and light the garland at night!

This globe punch is so cute and I love that I can use different materials to achieve different looks! And after I am done using it I can disassemble the beach balls and store them for the next party!

Sun & Sand Beach Card

Happy summer, y’all!  Shellye here with a sunny card that displays actual sand from a recent trip to the beach…such a fun way to send a message back to those at home!

Shellye McDaniel-Sun and Sand Beach Themed Card1

And since we’re using a shaker pocket for the front, you could also add small shells, sequins, etc.

Shellye McDaniel-Sun and Sand Beach Themed Card2

I started with one of the square journal cards from the Honey I’m Home-“Real Life” patterned paper, a 4X4 Fuse Waterfall Sleeve and the Fuse Tool and Ruler.  The tool was plugged in and allowed to heat.

Shellye McDaniel-Sun and Sand Beach Themed Card3

The journal card was placed inside of the sleeve and a small amount of sand was poured on top.  Using the rotary style tip and ruler as a guide, the opening of the sleeve was sealed shut.  Just make sure to use an even amount of pressure as you’re guiding the tool over the plastic.

Shellye McDaniel-Sun and Sand Beach Themed Card4

For the front of the card  a 2.5” circle was die-cut from the Honey I’m Home- “Homemade” patterned paper.  It was attached over the sentiment on the journal card with foam adhesive tape.  The wood veneer ampersand was glued to the center of the circle.

Shellye McDaniel-Sun and Sand Beach Themed Card5

Twilight Foam Thicker Letters were used to spell out “sun” and “sand”.  Hand-cut hearts from the Honey I’m Home- “Love & Laugh” patterned paper was added alongside the ampersand and then embellished with a small gold sequin and bow made from the Ruler Studio’s Natural String.

The finished card size is 5.75” X5.75” so it will fit perfectly inside of a 6X6 envelope!

Beach Layout

Since we’re in the throws of summer here with plenty of warm and dry weather, we thought it might be fun to host Beach Week so we can daydream about waves tickling our toes, and beautiful sunsets on the sand. Tessa starts the week off with a sweet beach themed layout. Check it out!

Hello, friends! Tessa Buys here. Have you made it to the beach yet this summer? Our family took a quick trip recently and it was our little girl’s first time seeing the ocean.

WRMK Beach Layout Tessa Buys 1

Inspired by the bright colors she is wearing in this photo, I decided to use the Flower Girl collection. To make some waves on my layout – literally – I employed the Evolution Advanced machine and a wave pattern embossing folder.

WRMK Beach Layout Tessa Buys 2

I embossed vellum for a subtle effect. I love how it has the look of rippling water without competing with the other patterns on the layout.

WRMK Beach Layout Tessa Buys 3

I chose the light pink patterned paper because the design reminded me of the footprints birds left in the sand. The sea birds also inspired me to use the bird die-cuts from the Flower Girl collection.

WRMK Beach Layout Tessa Buys 4

Inspired by the spray of the waves, I splattered blue mist across my layout. I especially love how the blue mist compliments the red and pink in the Flower Girl collection.

WRMK Beach Layout Tessa Buys 5

Even though it may not be a summer or beach collection, Flower Girl is a great line for beach photos! Compliment the everyday designs and bright colors with beach-inspired surf and sand for a look you’re “shore” to love!

File Folder Birthday Card

Hello We R fans, and Happy Friday! It’s Aly here again to share a Template Studio project with you. Have you ever bought a group card for someone only to discover that there’s just not enough room for everyone to sign? Well today I’ve got a solution for you! The Template Studio File Folder Guide allows you to make custom size file folders that can also double as large scale DIY group cards. Check out the jumbo birthday card I made below.

File Folder Birthday Card by Aly Dosdall 1

I used my Template Studio to create an 8.5 x 11 inche file folder from some Bazzill Basics Dotted Swiss Poster Board. The instructions were easy to follow, and it took me minutes to create my custom file folder.

After I made my file folder, I embellished the front with some papers, ephemera, and stickers from the Flower Girl collection.

I love adding a touch of gold to my projects, so I used some gold foil Thickers from the Wildflower collection, and then punched some letters with my new Mini Alphabet Punch Board using gold paper from the 3×5 Metallic Paper Pad. I got three letters from one sheet.

File Folder Birthday Card by Aly Dosdall 4

To decorate the inside of the card I added a strip of Macaron patterned paper and some punched letters spelling “Happy Birthday”, with a Macaron sticker accent.

And since the inside of the card is so big, there’s still plenty of room for everyone to sign the card. Awesome!

Template Studio Wedding Gift Bag

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here today to share a beautiful wedding gift bag, that is handmade, using the Template Studio. Yes, that bag is handmade! I am so excited about how this project turned out! And I cannot wait to create more custom gift bags because it was so simple to do!

love gift bag Kimberly Crawford

After laying out the cutting mat on my table, I followed the direction cards included in the Template Studio Starter Kit. The directions and measurements for several different projects are kept on a loose-leaf ring for easy use while working.

love gift bag 2 Kimberly Crawford

The template guides have pegs on the end, that fit into the cutting mat surface, keeping the guides perfectly in place while cutting and scoring. I love how the cutting and scoring blades have small peg that fit into the rail of the guides. After following the directions and measurements for cutting and scoring, my bag was complete!

love gift bag 3 Kimberly Crawford

To add a special touch, I added handles to my wedding gift bag.

love gift bag 4 Kimberly Crawford

I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch two holes on each side of the bag. About 15” of ribbon was cut and fed through one hole. A knot was tied to the end and the excess ribbon was trimmed away. I repeated the same process by feeding the other end of the ribbon through the second hole and knotting it. To feed the ribbon more easily through the opening, I cut it at an angle.

These last two additions to my gift bag really made it special. The flower embellishment is from the Wildflower Collection and it has a touch of gold foiling on it. The chipboard gold word “love,” also from the Wildflower Collection, was placed over the top. It looks like a gift bag I bought at a boutique, but I made it!

It was a ton of fun to create my own custom wedding gift bag with the Template Studio! What special event do you have coming up that needs a special gift bag?

Template Studio Party Decor

Hello We R fans and welcome back to the blog today!

My little Miss is going to be celebrating her sixth birthday tomorrow and preparations for her special day are in full swing! Living in tropical Queensland, winter is pretty mild, but there is always a chance that the weather will turn on the day, so I want to bring a touch of summer to the festivities.

My party decor has been put together using only a few supplies – the WRMK Template Studio and some cardstock! I’ve used the circle template to create the awesome cones (which I saw a long time ago and have been keen to try for aaaaaaages) the placemats and the party hats.

To make the 4 place settings, cones and hats I used:

4x A2 sheets of cream card

4x A2 sheets of green card

2x A2 sheets of pink card

a little bit of glitter tape and some ribbon/twine/thin elastic

To start, I used the measurements set out on the instructions that come with the Template Studio Guides. One can purchase the guides separately or in the starter kit which comes with 5 templates and allows you to create large scale gift bags, envelopes, boxes, home decor and more!

I created the placemats first, which called for a trimmed piece of card, 16×16 inches each.

Once I had cut down the card to the correct size, I laid each one on the mat and used the circle guide to cut my circles.

I accented my placemats simply with some pretty white doilies.

Next on the decor list were the ice cream cones. The cones I saw actually floated, which is such a fantastic idea. One could use the smaller circle template and create cones the size of the party hats instead. I wanted a centered focal point, so I went with the larger circle template instead and created the larger cones. The paper called for a 22 x 22 inch piece of card for each cone. I trimmed and cut as per the instructions above and was left with 4 bigger cream circles, which I rolled into cones.

I threaded the balloons, complete with twine, down through the centre of the cone and adhered the twine to the bottom of the cone so the balloon had a stable base in which to rest.

My third party project was to create some matching party hats. No party would be complete without a hat! So I went about fashioning some out of pink card. These hats also took a 16” x 16” piece of card each. After I created the circles, I cut them in half and then cut them again, at 45 degrees to the halfway line, as show in the image below. Bring the two ends together and you have a super cute party hat!

I popped a hole on each side of the hat and threaded a ribbon though the hole, securing it on the inside of the hat.

Next step was to make the little bows for the outside of the hats. I used the One Piece Bow Die to create the shape, snipping off the little bit that secures the bow together. I replaced this part with some green glitter tape to coordinate with the placemats.

Don’t they look adorable!

Also on my table are some super adorable and brand new number mini pinatas! I decorated my number 6’s very simply with white and gold DIY Fringe tape.

You can choose to display your pinatas on the table or create seriously inexpensive mini cake stands with a plate and a disposable cup!

You may have noticed that I have used my absolute fave string lights on the table too. I just can’t get enough of them! I’ve popped some white butterfly bulb covers onto a few of the lights and woven it along the centrepiece. I love the gentle glow it gives off. Other finishing touches are some DIY Party bright confetti and some flamingo silhouettes I cut out using my Cameo.

Thank you for joining me today. Wishing you many hours of happy crafting until we meet again!
