Back to School Teacher Gifts

Back-to-School time is upon us!  Shellye McDaniel here today with a goodie for teachers within a goodie bag.

My oldest son will be a first time teacher and coach this school year, so I made a name banner to hang in his classroom:

For the banner pieces, I’ve used the brand NEW “Mini Alphabet Punch Board” to cut the lettering from 1.5”X2.5” strips of Black Textured Cardstock and then layered them onto Kraft banners.  For the banner panels, I simply removed enough sheets from the Kraft 3X5 Paper Pad.  Each paper was then placed onto the Banner Punch Board and the ends were cut into a fish-tail shape.  I left the banners unattached and included a few yards of twine inside of the goodie bag.

For the packaging of the banners (I also made a “Social Studies” matching banner), I used the beautiful 12X12 Glassine Papers and the Goodie Bag Guide.  The finished bags make a nice 5.5”X8” size when assembled.

For the fronts of the bags, I created little tags that I printed using my home computer and printer.  For the light-bulb bag I die-cut the shape from the new Urban Chic “English Garden” paper and used the metallic silver paper from the 3X5 Paper Pad for the bottom portion of the bulb.

For the “star” bag, I assembled the white vellum star from the DIY Party Metallic Stars pack.  Before closing completely, I filled the inside with orange and white sequins.  The star was attached to the center of the bag and then framed with one of the Urban Chic Ephemera frames.

The print-out tags were layered onto mats of Urban Chic “5th Avenue” paper and then tied onto the top of the bag with ribbon.

Create various banners to help teachers welcome back students!  I even thought about punching mini alphabet letters and giving those for gifts as well…teachers would love them for decorating bulletin boards and posters!
