Laura’s Favorite Colors: Mint, Navy, and Gold Gift Packaging

Hello there, We R readers, Laura here. This week is all about our favorite colors. One of my favorite color combinations is mint, navy, and gold.

Today, I am going to share some gift packaging ideas with you, using these pretty colors.

Gift Packaging by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

The first package I wrapped up using my FUSE tool, papers, and embellishments. I laid out my mint chevron paper on the heat proof mat. I added the FUSEables decorative tape to the middle of the paper. Pull the tape out of the box and fold it on the premarked score lines.

Use the FUSE tool to adhere it to the plastic paper.

Then, I added some FUSEables embellishments to the middle of the paper. I used the embellished 12 x 12 sheet to wrap up my small gift.

For the next gift, I used the 1-2-3 Punch Board to create an XL gift box from navy cardstock. Follow the instructions on the punch board to score and punch your paper to fold it up into a cute little 4” x 4” x 4” box.

I added strips of gold and mint glitter tape to the the box. This tape is so fun and sparkly!

Using the 1-2-3 Punch Board I created an XS bow out of navy cardstock. I added a pre-made gold bow to the top to have another gold element on my gift.

I also tucked a little teal and gold tag under the bow.

For the last gift packaging idea, I wanted to dress up a store bought mint gift bag. I used gold, navy, and mint fringe tape. I simply trimmed the fringe tape to fit along the front of the gift bag. It has an adhesive back to make it easy to attach to any project.

I added a gold tassel to the handle and some gold and navy tissue paper.

Beach Lightbox Photo Frame

Hey there friends! It’s Aly Dosdall joining you again today, and I’m glad you’re here! I’m loving Beach Week so far–what fabulous beach themed project ideas we’ve seen so far! Today I’m sharing an idea for displaying your precious beach trip memories in a beautiful and unique way.

A couple of years ago my hubby and I had the chance to spend a week in Hawaii. He just happened to have a work conference there–how convenient, right?

Beach Light Box Photo Collage by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I made an album with our photos and memories of the trip, but it was such a fun vacation that I really wanted to have some of our favorite photos on display in our home, so I created this beach themed light box photo frame using elements from the Photo Lights collection and the Crate Paper Oasis paper collection.

Beach Light Box Photo Collage by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I started by creating an 8×8 photo collage with nine photos in my Google Photos app. There are several ways to create photo collages. Some of my favorites are picmonkey.com (PC), the Layout app from Instagram (smartphone), and Google Photos (PC or smartphone).

Beach Light Box Photo Collage by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

Next, I printed my photo collage onto the Photo Lights Backlit Printable Film using my inkjet printer (you can also use a laser printer). I trimmed it to 8×8 inches to fit my 8×8 Photo Lights Frame. Then I gathered some rub-ons from the Photo Lights collection, as well as some other embellishments.

Beach Light Box Photo Collage by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I added the rub-on directly to the photo collage first, and then inserted it into the magnetic frame. Then I added the remaining embellishments on the outside of the frame for some dimension.

To add to the Hawaiian beach theme of the project, I layered some Gold Fringe Tape on the top edge of the frame. It reminds me of a grass skirt or a tiki bar!

The Photo Lights frames are a great way to stylishly and easily display your favorite memories. Keep them for your own space, or give them away for the perfect gift. Thanks for joining me friends, and have a happy crafty day!

Beach Bag with the Stitch Happy

Hello and welcome, Chantalle with you today! The Winter solstice has come and gone here in the Southern Hemisphere (not that we can really complain about our winter temps in Queensland!) and I am starting to dream about balmy beach days again. I’ve created an oversized beach bag with my Stitch Happy Sewing Machine, which can accommodate all of our gear for a day at the beach, a picnic or pool party!

DIY Beach Bag with the Stitch Happy sewing machine by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

I will confess, that my sewing skills are pretty much limited to most things in square form or something easy that I can check out a tutorial online. (You can find the full details of this tutorial later on in this post.)

My bag is primarily natural calico with a bright pop of colour for the lining and little pocket. I had such fun looking at all the beautiful trims in my local fabric store!

I washed and ironed my fabric before use to prevent the fabric from warping later on. Once it was ready, I used my new Supreme Ruler to measure out two large pieces, each 22 x 40 inches. I folded the material over before I cut to make it easier. Using the fold as one side, also meant I didn’t have to sew all four sides. The Supreme Ruler was fabulous to use, as the one side has a metal edge, which was perfect for using my rotary cutter against. It also has handy measuring guides, so I knew exactly where to make my markings.

This bag is large and strong – It easily fitted four towels, my camera, sunblock, hats and a picnic rug. The bag’s size also seems easy to adjust, so you can make one to suit your specific needs!

As per the tutorial, I sewed two square shapes, one in the bright chevron and one in the calico. The bag has squared off edges, which makes it easier to stand up a bit straighter. This involves marking off sections in the bottom two corners, opening the corner and then sewing across. Finally cutting off the excess fabric.

The bags then fit inside each other and one sews in the handles. I’ve used natural belting which was a little over an inch wide. You can make these as long or as short as you like.

You’ll notice I’ve sewed in a box fashion where the handles meet the fabric. This provides extra strength when the handles are under load. Just go slow and steady with your machine and if you find using the pedal is too fast for such a specific area, I like to just wind by hand so I know each stitch is deliberate.

The pocket was a bit of a made up design, lol. I initially thought the pocket would have the chevron on the outside, but it turned out looking a bit too bright, so I used the calico on the outside and lined it with the chevron print, turning the front edge over slightly, so the colour was peeping out. This was then finished off with some super cute coordinating pom pom trim, which I may or may not have bought a bit extra for something else in the future!

I’m so impressed with how this bag turned out. I’ll definitely be using the method to create more bags like this and would love to try making a smaller one for everyday items, like groceries or my little one’s gymnastics class! It was a very do-able project and I loved creating it with my Stitch Happy!

Beach Themed Card with the Frame Punch Board

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with a summer card during Beach Week. When I think about the beach, I think towels and umbrellas, swimsuits and sunscreen, and most importantly, cute shades! Using my We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board, check out how easy it is to make these adorable sunglasses!

When it’s summer, life is always seen through rose-colored glasses!

Frame Punch Board sunglasses card by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

These sunglasses look great on a card, but once again, I will be using these in my scrapbook too. So many color combinations to create!

Frame Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers

I began by cutting my patterned paper to 2” by 2.” Then I set the Frame Punch Board to .25” by moving each of the small teal tabs on the side of the punch. You can make the edges as thick or as thin as you desire by moving the tabs. Making sure my paper was flush to each tab, I punched. I continued that process for each corner.

Frame Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers

The tab for the cutting bar can be adjusted as well. I set it to .25” also and cut away the inside piece from the frame.

Frame Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers

If the tabs on the side of the punch are moved to the furthest position (which is clearly labeled, yay!), the corners of your frame can be rounded. Which was exactly what my sunglasses needed.

On the back of each frame a piece of colored acetate was adhered. I also added a nose bridge and sides with the same patterned paper. Nothing fancy, just hand cut pieces. It got even more summery feeling with more fun papers from the Crate Paper Cute Girl 6×6 paper pad.

Beach Mini Album

Hello We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, Becki here, to share a beach themed mini album with you that I created with the Stitch Happy Sewing Machine and the Frame Punch board. I loved both of these tools before I created this project but now I love them even more!
Beach Themed Mini Album with the Stitch Happy by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers
The stitch happy sewing machine is perfect for stitching through a stack of patterned papers to create a mini album. The first thing I did to create this album is cut four pieces of patterned paper into 4 1/2 x 7 inches. Then, I stacked them together and stitched down the center with my Stitch Happy sewing machine. The thicker thread and heavy duty machine worked perfectly!

I folded the patterned papers in half along the stitching to create the album. To cover the back of the stitching, I added a strip of patterned paper that I stitched along the edges. You can see the stitching in the center of the middle pages of the album.

On each page, I added a 3×4 inch frame that I had punched with the Frame punch board. This tool makes creating frames SO easy! Instead of adding photos to the frames, I added embellishments. Frames aren’t just for photos.

To make sure that the Thickers I used for the title of this album stayed in place, I stitched them to the frame before I adhered the frame to the front of the album. The Stitch Happy sewing machine stitched through the chipboard Thickers perfectly!

When the album was finished, I decided that I wanted to add a bit of ribbon to keep the album closed. I stapled and adhered the ribbon in place under photos. The ribbon added the perfect finishing touch to this album.

I would love to see how you use the Stitch Happy sewing machine and frame punch board to document your memories of going to the beach. Thank you for stopping by the We R Memory Keepers blog today!

Handmade Cards with the Supreme Ruler

Hi everybody! Soraya here today to show you a couple of cards I made with the Supreme Ruler, the Stitch Happy sewing machine, the 2 Edge Punch, and the Staple Board! Let’s go!

Handmade cards with the Supreme Ruler by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers

To make these colorful cards, I selected 8 patterned papers that I trimmed with the Supreme Ruler in order to get 8 large stripes. Then I used a 2 Edge Punch to create the floral edges that I placed on a white cardstock with double sided tape.

Fabric Hoop with the Supreme Ruler

Hello, We R friends! Tessa Buys here. I love pretty fabric almost as much as I love pretty paper, so every once in awhile it’s fun to put down the paper and glue and whip up a fabric project. This one is super easy, especially when you use the new We R Memory Keepers Supreme Ruler:

Fabric Hoop with the Supreme Ruler by Tessa Buys for We R Memory Keepers

I gathered some fabric scraps that I loved, including quilting cottons and this fun, shimmery fabric. Using a rotary cutter and the Supreme Ruler, I cut several strips from each fabric in various widths. I knew I loved this ruler for paper projects, but now I don’t think I’ll be using my usual quilting ruler as much any more.

Fabric Hoop with the Supreme Ruler by Tessa Buys for We R Memory Keepers

Why? I cannot sing the praises of the non-slip grip the bottom of this ruler has enough! I am a clumsy crafter, so it was really nice to be able to count on the non-slip grip to keep my ruler from moving around on the fabric. Also, I love the handle that I can hold and push down on as I am cutting. It’s much easier to grasp and move around than my typical quilting ruler.

Once I had all my strips cut, I simply looped them around an embroidery hoop. I embellished with some handmade felt roses and leaves.

I’m sure I’ll be using my Supreme Ruler for more fabric crafts. My quilting ruler might collect a little bit of dust while I keep the Supreme Ruler handy. If you give a fabric project a try, happy crafting!

Framed Watercolor Art with the Supreme Ruler

Hello We R fans! It’s Eva on the blog today showing your how to make a grid watercolor frame using your Supreme Ruler.

Framed Watercolor Art with the Supreme Ruler by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I have had this huge frame over my mantle for months because I couldn’t figure out what to do with it.  When my Supreme Ruler arrived I knew it was the perfect size to make a Grid Watercolor Frame.

I started by cutting my cardstock with my Supreme Ruler and my exacto knife.  Because the ruler has a non slip bottom and it is 18 inches long I was able to do this with one cut.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

Next I marked the inside of my frame and made marks with my ruler every 2 cm. The Supreme Ruler has inches and centimeters and it is transparent, allowing you to make precise measurements for your projects.

After I had marked all my sides I created my grid.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

I am no expert when it comes to watercolor, I simply filled every diagonal with a different color and tried to use a rainbow pattern.

Framed Watercolor Art with the Supreme Ruler by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I let my watercolors dry and then erased all my pencil marks.

This project was easy and fun! The Supreme Ruler with its metal rim, non slip bottom, easy grip handle and size was a huge help! I am already thinking on my next Supreme Ruler project. What would you use your Supreme Ruler for?

Scrapbook Page with the Supreme Ruler

Hello, Laura here today with a scrapbook layout you are sure to love. If you don’t know me, you might not know that I am a perfectionist. Anytime I scrapbook, I like everything to be symmetrical, evenly spaced, and straight. Sometimes it can be really hard to position everything just right. That is where the new Supreme Ruler comes in!

Scrapbook Page with the Supreme Ruler by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I started with a teal colored background paper that had a little texture. Then I cut out little one inch squares from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams 6 x 6 paper pad using the Supreme Ruler and a craft knife.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

I used the guides on the Supreme Ruler to space all the little squares evenly apart. Having the ruler made it so much easier than having to eyeball everything.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

Then, I cut a coordinating strip of floral paper from the 12 x 12 paper pack to go along the bottom edge. I was able to place it perfectly with the Supreme Ruler.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

I had a couple of little embellishment pieces that were part of the small paper pad – a small June calendar, and a little tag with a saying on it. These can be so tricky to cut just right with a regular paper trimmer. Having a clear ruler with a sharp edge made these so easy to trim straight.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

I added some gold Thickers to my layout at the top and bottom to spell out “dancer” and “2017”. This was another great use of the ruler. I could get everything evenly spaced and straight on my layout. These Thickers were perfect for my layout as they have a pink edge you can see from the side.

I added a butterfly, my calendar, and the little tag along the side of my picture to balance out the layout.

This style of layout works great to use up small scraps of your favorite papers you have left over from other projects. Using papers from the same collection make it easy to coordinate the layout without a lot of fuss.

I am so proud of my little dancer. And I am proud to show off her recital picture in this pretty floral layout made easy with the Supreme Ruler.
