Scrapbook Page Border with the Sprinkle Punch

Hello, We R friends! Tessa Buys here. My little girl was the lucky recipient of a closet-full of costumes from one of my dance students. Inspired by the sequins, shiny fabrics and festive feel of the costumes, I created this layout using the new Sprinkle Punch.

Scrapbook page featuring the Sprinkle Punch by Tessa Buys for We R Memory Keepers

After putting together most of my background using some papers and embellishments from Amy Tan’s new Hustle & Heart collection, I created a fun border between the top and bottom portions with some double-sided tape and punched sprinkles. I punched the sprinkles from foil papers by Bazzill for shine and sparkle. For even more metallic “wow”, I also used Heidi Swapp gold flakes.

We R Memory Keepers Sprinkle Punch and Heidi Swapp Gold Flakes

I randomly pressed the sprinkles into the tape, not worrying too much about placement. I filled the gaps with the gold flakes, brushing off the excess.

I included some sprinkles underneath the polka dot acrylic paper to accent my embellishment cluster.

The sprinkle/gold flake border is so glam it could have been trim on one of the costumes! How darling would this technique be on a birthday card, party décor, or cupcake wrappers? Instead of gold flakes you could even use glitter or microbeads. The possibilities are endless!

Happy creating!

Throwback Thursday: Tag Punch Mini Album

It’s Throwback Thursday friends, and today we’re featuring a post about one of our most popular punches, the DIY Party Tag Punch. With this handy tool you can make your own tags in varying sizes and lengths–choose from 1″, 1.5″, or 2″ wide. It’s a great way to use up your scraps, and customize your tags. Check out the unique project below from last year using the Tag Punch!

Hello, We R Memory Keepers friends! Tessa Buys here today to share an out-of-the-box idea for using the Tag Punch. The Tag Punch is perfect for making custom gift tags, but it’s also great for other projects. Check out this very mini album made of tag punch pages, photos and the Honey I’m Home collection:

WRMK Tag Punch Mini Album Tessa Buys 1

I started by printing several small photos and making a handful of tags with the Tag Punch.

WRMK Tag Punch Mini Album Tessa Buys 2

Next, I trimmed most of my photos to the same dimensions as the tags (2 inches wide, 3 inches long) and adhered the photos to the back of the tags. I added more pages with a couple of shipping tags and by adhering some of my photos back to back. I made more space for journaling by making two one inch tags with the tag punch and backing those tags with white cardstock.

I used wood veneer pieces, stickers and puffy stickers to embellish the pages. My trusty Crop-a-dile came in handy when I had to punch a hole through a wood veneer frame for the binder ring.

I love how the tag punch was incredibly easy to use. From the built-in score line to the guides for lining up your paper, this punch makes creating tags a breeze. And the fold-over tops of the tags make for durable mini album pages, which is very important when you have little ones taking a look! You’ll love making tags and more with this clever gadget!

Sunburst Shaker Layout with the Sprinkle Punch

Hello We R fans!  It’s Eva on the blog today showing you a Sprinkles Sunburst Layout made with the Sprinkle Punch and Pebbles’ new line Happy Hooray.

Sunburst Shaker Layout by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

This new Sprinkle Punch is absolutely adorable! It is perfect for cards and for making confetti pockets for your Project Life or Mini Albums. I used mine to make a sprinkles sunburst layout with a picture of my son’s second birthday party.

To make the layout, start by tracing the sunburst on a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock. Cut some rays on different patterned papers and use your Sprinkle Punch to make some confetti.

Sprinkle Punch by We R Memory Keepers

Lay a piece of vellum on top of the white cardstock and glue your rays and your picture on top.

Use your Stitch Happy machine to sew the rays to your layout  being careful not to sew the border.

Fill your vellum pockets with the Sprinkles and sew the border around your project, sealing the shaker pockets shut. I used the twine thread, andI love how it looks!

Garland Punch Mobile

Hello and welcome to Punch Week here on the blog. This week we’re focusing on our fabulous punches (as opposed to punch boards), and our designers will be sharing projects they’ve made with these crafter’s staples. Let’s get things started with a darling mobile made with the Garland Punch by Laura Silva.

Hey there, We R readers, Laura here! One thing I love about We R tools is that they are so versatile. You can use each one for so many different projects. Today, I am sharing how to create this hanging mobile using the DIY Party garland punch. Instead of making the traditional garland for party decor, I used the punch to create a pretty paper rainbow mobile.

Circle Garland Mobile by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

To start with you will need a rainbow assortment of cardstock. I love the DIY party pad colors. I used 10 solid colors and one gold sheet. I suggest using double-sided cardstock for this project. The gold has white on the back, but the rest of the cardstock is the same on both sides. You will also need the circle garland punch and a wooden embroidery hoop.

Circle Garland Mobile by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I used the punch to cut out twelve circles of each color.

Circle Garland Mobile by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

As you create your strand, loop one with the “hook” part facing up, and then on the next one, do the “hook” facing down. This way when the garland hangs, it will look 3D rather than flat.

Circle Garland Mobile by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I wanted there to be a little variety in the mobile as it turned around, so for each of the strands, I used one circle of each of the colors. Then, I would choose one color and use two circles for that strand of that particular color. This is why I cut out 12 of each of the eleven colors.

I laid them out as I went to be sure I could keep track of what I was doing. Plus, this also allowed me to vary which strand I used as I added them to the embroidery hoop.

Circle Garland Mobile by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Using strong, clear fishing line, I tied a knot at the top of each garland strand. I used a little dab of superglue on the knots to be sure they didn’t come apart.

Circle Garland Mobile by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I cut each fishing line strand 8 inches long and attached them to the inner hoop of the embroidery hoop. Again, I tied a knot around the hoop and used a little super glue to keep the knot in tact. After the glue dried, I trimmed off all the excess fishing line.

On the outside hoop, I used three two-foot lengths of white and gold twine. I looped each one around the hoop, and then gathered all the strands at the top and tied a knot. Evenly space out the twine until the hoop lies flat.

Attach the inner hoop inside the outer hoop and tighten.

I love how this turned out. You could really do any color combination. It looks beautiful spinning around.

Fall Party Favors

Hello friends, and thanks for stopping by today! It’s Aly Dosdall here, and I’m excited to share a fun fall project with you. Using my 123 Punch Board, I modified the traditional box it makes and created these pretty tie boxes that are the perfect favor for any fall occasion!

Fall Favor Boxes by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

First, I selected some fall inspired papers from Heart of Home collection by Jen Hadfield for Pebbles Inc.

Then I trimmed each paper to 8×8 inches with my Dial Trimmer. It’s such a handy tool with six different blade options at my fingertips!

Dial Trimmer by We R Memory Keepers

Next, I followed the instructions on the 123 Punch Board for making a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch box, except I made a slight modification at the end of the instructions: instead of punching all the corners with the corner slitter on the board, I punched them with the corner rounder.

123 Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers

I also made a few more alterations to the regular box the 123 Punch Board makes: I cut slits in opposite flaps as shown below; I punched holes with my Crop-A-Dile on the 1/8 inch setting about 1/4 inch below the end of each corner; I added adhesive to the cut flaps on the outside of the box as shown below.

Tie Box by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

You can find more detailed instructions for making this tie box in the 123 Punch Board instruction booklet. You can also watch a short video tutorial I filmed HERE on my YouTube channel.

Once I finished assembling the box, I added a strip of washi tape as a border around the box. Tip: to ensure that the washi tape pattern can be seen over the patterned paper, add the washi tape to a strip of white paper first, then tape it around the box.

Fall Favor Boxes by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I added a dimensional sticker from the collection to the front of each box. They’re perfect for this size box, and they each have a sweet sentiment making the boxes perfect favors for any fall celebration.

Fall Favor Boxes by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I filled each box with some of my favorite chocolates–Hershey’s Nuggets! To close the boxes, I threaded a 12 inch strand of twine through each hole following the instructions in the 123 Punch Board booklet, gently pulled it tight, and then tied it in a bow.

What’s really great about these boxes, is you can use them as a favor for any occasion or season. Just change out the papers and colors, and you’re set for whatever you happen to be celebrating!

Fall Table Runner with the Stitch Happy

Hello and welcome! Chantalle with you, and today I would love to share a simple and stylish piece of home décor you can create yourself with basic supplies and your Stitch Happy Sewing Machine.

Fall Table Runner by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Stitch Happy sewing machine

I’ve created a leaf table runner, which is the perfect size for my coffee table and looks great on the dinner table too! I love the warm shades, which coordinate beautifully with my furniture.

Fall Table Runner by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Stitch Happy sewing machine

I love the organic shapes the leaves take on when joined together!

Fall Table Runner by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Stitch Happy sewing machine

I started this project off by grabbing some coloured felt from my local craft store. These sheets were A4 size and I got two sheets in four different shades. I then used my beautiful rose gold fabric scissors that come in a 2 pack. The other pair of Stitch Happy scissors is a platinum colour and has been created specifically for paper. These two beauties, combined with my gold ones make the perfect molten trio!

Stitch Happy sewing machine by We R Memory Keepers
I cut out as many leaf shapes as I could get out of each sheet of felt, varying the sizes of the leaves, so I had a good mix of shapes and colours. I chose to keep the shape quite simple this time, but it would also be fun to mix different leaf shapes I think!

I ran each leaf through my Stitch Happy Sewing Machine using White Multimedia Thread for the main vein down the centre. I then switched to a regular weight thread and continued to sew a few more, finer veins branching out along each leaf.

NOTE: Remember to change out your needle to match your thread weight.

Fall Table Runner by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Stitch Happy sewing machine

I love the awesome texture the Multimedia Thread adds to the leaves. As you can imagine, between two rounds of stitching, there were plenty of ends to snip off!

Another tip would be to backstitch when starting and ending each line of stitching. This will prevent your hard work from coming undone once you snip off excess thread.

Fall Table Runner by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Stitch Happy sewing machine

When all the leaves were complete, I laid them out on some baking paper on my dining room table. I did this because I chose to use hot glue to adhere them together and didn’t want to risk damaging the table. I actually used low melt temperature glue sticks, which weren’t as scalding on the old fingertips!!

Fall Table Runner by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Stitch Happy sewing machine

The reason for the hot glue was also because I could get a strong bond, quickly without risking movement of the leaves while waiting for glue to dry. I also preferred this method to sewing them together as I felt I had just the right amount of visible stitching. This felt was already slightly stiff, so I didn’t have to use any backing material. One could use Fusing material if your felt was softer and you would prefer it to be a bit more rigid. One could even back sections with cork to make it heat resistant on the table!

Here is a full-length shot of the runner. I think it would make quite a nice wall hanging as well!

Here is a closer look at the stitching. You will love and adore sewing with thicker multimedia threads with the Stitch Happy!

This project is easily adapted to suit different seasons or special events.

I hope you will give it a try!

Fall Card with the Dial Trimmer

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with a card for fall! The leaves have begun to change and the nights are beginning to cool off. School is back in session and its back to Friday night lights! It was time to make a warm and cozy card with texture and the new We R Memory Keepers Dial Trimmer helped me achieve my goal! Check out this great new tool!

Fall Card featuring the Dial Trimmer by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

Feeling plaid-ish for fall, I grabbed this flannel-looking patterned paper from onecanoetwo’s Creekside collection. I wanted to make it feel like a cozy blanket. To add those edges and feel, I used the deckle edge on the Dial Trimmer.

Fall Card featuring the Dial Trimmer by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

The Dial Trimmer is SO fantastic! On the top of the trimmer are 6 different blades. Simply turn the dial to whichever blade you want, slide it down and cut! The Dial Trimmer also has an extendable arm, which means that cutting paper up to 12×12 inches is a breeze!

Fall Card featuring the Dial Trimmer by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

For the rest of my card, I used other parts from the Creekside collection. One of my favorite card-making tips is; fussy cut patterned paper. I cut the tag, the extra acorn, and the wood slices from different pieces of patterned paper. Instant embellishments!
