Hey there We R fans, Laura here today! Mother’s Day is right around the corner. I have three pretty Mother’s Day gift wrap ideas for you to add that extra special touch for your gifts for mom. All the gift wrap ideas are made with the DCWV Botanical Beauty Double Sided Cardstock Stack and the Trim & Score Board.
Gift Card Holder
Sometimes a gift card can be the best gift for mom. But handing her a plain gift card isn’t very fun. It is easy to create a gift card holder. Start by trimming your paper to 7 ½” x 5”. Place the long edge of the paper at the top of the Trim & Score board and score the paper at ½”, 3 ½”, 4”, and 7”. Then, turn the paper to the shorter side and score the paper at ½” and 4 ½”.
Fold the paper at all the score lines. Cut the score lines to create the flaps at the bottom and the top. Cut the corners off one end.
Use adhesive to assemble your gift card box. Be sure to leave one end open to place your gift card inside. Then, close that end of the box, as well.
To embellish the box, wrap it in twine and cut out one of the beautiful tags included with the cardstock stack. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole in the tag.
Box with a Lid
For the next gift wrap idea, I am going to show you how to create a box with a lid. Start by trimming your paper to 10” x 10”. Use the Trim & Score board to score lines at 3” and 7”. Flip the paper 90° and repeat this process.
Turn the paper diagonally on the Trim & Score Board and score a line from the corner into where the score lines intersect. This will allow you to more easily fold the corners in.
Fold the paper on all the score lines. You will fold the four corners in towards the middle of the box.
Attach all the flaps with adhesive. If you find the adhesive is not holding your box together, use hot glue instead.
To create the top of the box you will follow the same steps as above, however this time, start with a piece of paper 5 ¾” by 5 ¾”. Score the paper at ¾” and 5”. Flip the paper 90° and repeat this process. Again, score the diagonal line at each corner. Fold the flaps in towards the middle of the lid and use adhesive to secure.
I wanted to add a pretty rosette to the top of the box, so I used a scrap of paper that was 1 ½” by 12” long and scored it every ¼”. Fold the paper accordion style.
Use strong grip double sided tape like super sticky red tape to secure the ends together in a circle. Press the rosette flat. Cut a one-inch circle and use hot glue to adhere it to the center to keep the rosette in place.
Use an adhesive foam dot to attach the rosette to the top of the box. Fill the box with small treats for mom.
The last wrapping technique I am going to share is how to create a gift bag. This bag requires two sheets of patterned cardstock. Trim each paper to 7 ½” x 11”.
With the shorter side of the paper at the top of the score board, score a line at ½” and 3 ½”. Then turn the paper 90° and score the paper at 8”. Repeat this process for the other sheet of paper.
Fold the paper at all the score lines and trim on the score lines where the bottom bag flaps will be. Trim the corner off.
Assemble the bag using adhesive. To create ribbon handles, punch two holes at the top of the bag on either side using your Crop-A-Dile.
Thread ribbon through the holes towards the center of the bag and tie a knot in each end to keep it from coming through the holes. On one side I threaded one of the pretty tags that I cut from the patterned paper on the ribbon before I threaded it through the hole.
This little bag is perfect for gift giving!
I hope these Mother’s Day gift wrap ideas inspire you to not only find a thoughtful gift, but also wrap it up beautifully. The Botanical Beauty papers are perfect for Mother’s Day. And since the papers are double-sided the gift wrap is pretty both inside and out!
