Hello again WeR fans! Thank you for stopping by the blog this week, as we share our favourite colour combinations! I cannot walk past anything pink. The hotter the better… I am well and truly a child of the Eighties in that regard!
Pink goes with so many colours but I really love an Aqua/Teal and Gold combination. Throw in a pop of black for good measure and it’s perfection, haha.
It’s very seldom that I create a double page layout. The second page always seems a bit daunting I guess. The layout I have created using my favourite colours though, seemed right for a double. The emotion while I created it just spilled out past twelve inches and I’m really glad I went with it, because I love how it turned out.
The main focal area has a circular design that expands outwards from the image. Staples hold the photo in place, adding texture and colour.
The grid pattern also extends out onto white cardstock. The lines and circles have been added in by hand to give a sense of continuity.
To start, I selected the sweet but not-too-overpowering design of a sheet of Flower Girl ‘Sweets’. (I will admit that I hoard my WeR papers and accessories now!)
The grid lines were perfect to extend my design on to a second page.
I then used my Circle Clear Cut Punch to punch a 2 inch circle into the centre of the patterned paper, below which I would adhere my image.
Using the clever circle shapes molded into my WRMK Square Guide , I traced a light pencil mark around the photo. This would serve as a guide to where I was going to be stapling.
The WRMK Staple Board allows you to punch anywhere on a project! With three sizes of staplers to choose from, it’s powerful magnetic system holds your paper in place while you staple. I’ve used the small and large size staples and adjusted the base accordingly.
It was a bit of trial and error getting the staples in exactly the correct position, but after a few goes I had worked out a bit of a system, rotating the paper as I went. It took a bit of time, but I really like the effect.
I used a fine artline pen to extend the lines onto the plain white cardstock…
… And one of my favourite Vicki Boutin Stamp & Die Set (circles) along with a juicy pink ink from my Vicki Boutin Color Wheel Ink Pad. These pads are so clever and compact – giving you collections of warm or cool colours. A must for the stash!
My Acrylic Stamp Blocks allowed me to see exactly where my stamping would be placed and the grid lines printed on the block make lining things up really easy.
There are lots of lots of little coordinating details on this layout. I gathered matching elements, and used up lots of things I have been keeping for a rainy day. One thing I will say is this – if you are holding on to something, use it. Use the nice things – don’t keep them hidden away.
Another fantastic function of the Staple Board is that it comes with built-in storage, which is really handy for keeping little things like staples organized. You can purchase refill boxes of staples, which come in 3 sizes and 4 colours.
These Shimelle ‘Glitter Girl’ Shaker Stickers are a perfect example of me keeping things, lol. Sooo easy on the eye, these shaker stickers have been squirreled away. I’m so glad I used one on this page! I love it and will be using them instead of looking at them for sure.
More little details – another favourite (of which I now sadly have no more) are the ‘Pick me Up’ Rub Ons by Paige Evans for Pink Paislee. They are wonderful!
I’m definitely seeing more double in my future!
We all get the days when worries take over – we overthink, wonder what’s around the corner for us. Life is tricky baby – stay in your magic.
