Wedding photos are some of our most-cherished pictures and they need to be showcased. I created this photo frame with black cardstock and the Foil Quill, along with Foil Quill Gold Foil. Simple products that have been transformed into something elegant and stunning. While I created this frame with our wedding photos, I will be making this project as a wedding gift for couples in the future.

To begin with, I used an SVG file from the Foil Quill Kelly Creates digital drive. There are several different thumb drives available for purchase from your favorite American Crafts designers. The drives are loaded with beautiful images, words, letters, and more! I chose this beautiful floral image and put the image into my digital die cutting machine’s software. After resizing the image and positioning it where I wanted it to be foiled on my cardstock, the design is ready to be sent to the machine.

To prepare my paper for foiling, I placed my cardstock on the standard mat for my digital die cutting machine. Then I put the foil over the cardstock, only in the places where I know the design will be foiled. The foil needs to be held in place. The Foil Quill comes with a roll of washi tape to help with that. I would recommend using the tape liberally, especially with more intricate designs such as this. The foil also needs to be secured with as few wrinkles as possible, again, the washi tape helps with that.

The key to all this gorgeousness is the Foil Quill pen. Using your digital die cutting machine’s pen option, the Foil Quill becomes the magical tool you see creating gorgeous projects. The kit comes with 3 different sized pens. The medium nib (teal) will be the one you will use the most often. Within the kit are several adaptors, when added to the pens, adjusts to your specific digital die cutting machine’s dimensions. Amazing, right?

While you are preparing your image and paper, be sure to plug your Foil Quill pen tool into a USB port. The Foil Quill pens need to heat up before sketching on your cardstock. I found that 5-10 minutes of warm up time was adequate.

Once the Foil Quill is heated, the fun could start! I sent my file and watched the magic begin. With in a few minutes, I had a stunning foiled design on my cardstock. Look at the shine!

I also foiled a frame design from Paige Evans and cut it out. Inside that frame, I added our wedding photo. Twenty years ago, wow we were young. I cannot wait to put this on a wall in our house!

What wedding photo do you need to take out of an album and frame beautifully with the Foil Quill?
