Celebrating Scrapbooking: National Scrapbook Day Layout

Hello everyone and Happy National Scrapbook Day! It’s Eva on the blog today sharing a quick layout to celebrate this special day.

Scrapbook page with the We R Memory Keepers Stitch Happy Pen and the DCWV Inc Subtle and Sophisticated Stack

For this layout I decided to use the Subtle and Sophisticated paper pad from DCWV. I love this pad! The designs are romantic and have gorgeous patterns, plus the pages are double sided and have gold foil details! You can find it at your local Joann Stores or on their website HERE.

I started my layout by cutting some leaves from a pink and a green paper. I love the transparent look of this leaves.

Scrapbook page with the We R Memory Keepers Stitch Happy Pen and the DCWV Inc Subtle and Sophisticated Stack

To give my layout some texture I added some leaves with gold thread and my Stitch Happy Pen. This is the easiest and fastest way to add stitches to your layout.

Scrapbook page with the We R Memory Keepers Stitch Happy Pen and the DCWV Inc Subtle and Sophisticated Stack

On top of the stitched leaves I placed my flowers, mixing green and pink ones.

I cut the “So lovely” phrase from one of the papers and added my photo with some patterned papers on the back.

Finally, I used my Typecast Typewriter to add my journaling and two embellishments from the Crate Paper Sunny Days collection.

I love the texture and dimension the stitches give to my layout! I also decided to put some leaves with 3d dots and they look great!

And here it is my layout, easy and fun and with some journaling to cherish all my precious memories, that’s what NSD it is all about right?

Craft Storage Cart Ideas

Hello We R fans! Aly here to share some ideas for using our new storage cart and accessories from the A La Cart collection to keep craft supplies organized and easy to find. (A La Cart starts shipping to independent and online retailers mid-May 2019.) There are so many ways to use a craft storage cart, and they are so versatile and handy to have. I use mine to store my planners, journals and notebooks along with the accessories and tools that I most often use with them. That way when I’m ready for planning or journaling time I just need to roll the cart out and all my supplies are within arm’s reach.

I often do my planning and journaling outside of my craft room in front of the TV in my living room after my kids go to bed, so I love that I can roll the cart out there easily without having to gather and move all my supplies.

I love that the A La Cart collection includes a portable work surface that attaches to the top tier of the cart. It has magnetic attachments so it stays put while on the cart, but it’s easy to lift off and move to my lap while I work.

A La Cart craft storage cart by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

The Cart Pocket from the A La Cart collection allows me to fit so much more on the cart. It fits on the side easily with the included removable hooks. I use it to hold my markers, cutting tools, and some Journal Studio supplies.

Another accessory in the A La Cart collection that I love is the set of magnetic chalk labels and the chalk marker. Not only do the labels help keep things organized in my cart, but they’re pretty cute too! I can also wipe them clean and change out the labels as needed. That’s one thing I think is important in my craft room–the ability to change up my storage and organization as my craft stash and projects change.

The Cart Pocket from the A La Cart collection allows me to fit so much more on the cart. It fits on the side easily with the included removable hooks. I use it to hold my markers, cutting tools, and some Journal Studio supplies.

Here’s the breakdown of what I have stored on my cart in each tier: the top tier is for my workspace and a bin of smaller Journal Studio tools. I keep the tools in a small silverware bin I picked up at a home store.

The Cart Pocket from the A La Cart collection allows me to fit so much more on the cart. It fits on the side easily with the included removable hooks. I use it to hold my markers, cutting tools, and some Journal Studio supplies.

The middle tier is filled with my planners, journals and notebooks along with my favorite stash of washi tape rolls that I store in my mint Mini Bloom Storage. Washi tape is one of my go-to supplies for planning and journaling, so I always have plenty of that on hand. Plus I hang my Journal Studio Washi Tape Keychain on another removable A La Cart hook.

The bottom tier is where I keep my Mini Evolution and all the dies, embossing folders and coordinating stamps that go with it. It’s the perfect size for creating custom embellishments for my planners and journals! The Mini Evolution nesting storage caddies are available at hsn.com and fit all my Mini Evolution goodies perfectly.

The A La Cart collection will be releasing next month, so watch for it in independent stores and online this summer. I have the Emerald Green, but it also comes in a pretty Ash Grey.

Accessories To Organize Your Craft Cart

Hello everyone!  It’s Eva on the blog today sharing some ideas to use your A la Cart Accessories to organize your scrapbook supplies.

A La Cart Accessories by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

One of the storage solutions I use most often in my craft room is my cart. I use it to store all my essentials and, because it has wheels, I can move it around in the room (or the house) and keep all the tools close to me all the time.

The A la Cart collection includes a storage cart but the good news is that all the accessories are compatible with most carts, including that nordic one some of us have.

To personalize my cart I started by adding the Liners on every shelf. The package includes 3 sticker liners and you can adhere them to your cart or just leave them on top of the shelf. I love the look of the liners, they protect my cart and prevent small things from falling down in the small holes.

A La Cart Accessories by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I also used the Magnetic Labels to keep everything in order. I think they would be perfect to organize a cart for your kids, that way they can know exactly where to storage everything when they are done using it.

A La Cart Accessories by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

The labels are magnetic so you can move them around if you decide to change your organization.

A La Cart Accessories by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

To change labels, simply erase the chalkboard with a wet cloth and write again using the included chalkboard pen.

Finally my favorite item was the Cart Apron. It has 3 areas were you can store your most used items. On the top you can organize tools like: scissors, craft knifes, pen, etc. You can even put your Crop a Dile in there!

A La Cart Accessories by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I used the middle section to store some essentials like my mini trimmer, the mini score board and the magnetic mat. The pockets are very wide and hold lots of supplies.

A La Cart Accessories by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

On the final section I put two of my favorite tools: The Book Binding Tool and The Stitch Happy Pen with all of its accessories.  You can even store your Trim And Score on the pocket, it fits perfectly and it is great to have your trimmer next to you all the time.

These are some ideas to organize your scrapbook supplies but you could use your cart to organize knitting supplies, embroidery or mixed media paints! Anyway you use it, I am sure these accessories are going to help you keep everything in place and create beautiful things!

Thanks for joining me today and have a great day!

Easter Scrapbook Page

Next weekend is Easter and of course in the days before everything revolves around this holiday. Especially with my daughter the joy rises. I have created a suitable layout. And what fits better than a nest full of Easter eggs! Except in this case it’s a garland of eggs. For this I used different tools, so every egg looks different. I like to add different effects to a layout.

Easter Scrapbook Page by Steffi Ried for We R Memory Keepers

First I used the Big Happy Jig and made an egg out of wire. I created a small template for myself and then put the pegs on the board.

Easter Scrapbook Page by Steffi Ried for We R Memory KeepersWe R Memory Keepers Big Happy Jig egg template

For the next egg I used the Fuse Tool and many colorful sequins. After a long time one of my favourite tools was used again! First I sketched a template on paper. Then I glued it on an old project life page protector and cut it generously with scissors. Then I put the sequins between the two plastic sheets and closed the egg with the Fuse Tool.

I made another egg with the help of a hand sketch.

The Stitch Happy Tool was also used again. I first sketched two eggs with a pencil. The points for the embroidery holes were made. Then I removed the lines again with an eraser. And now embroidered.

Foil Quill Spring Card

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here and I know that you are as happy as I am that spring has finally sprung! Time for sunshine, green grass, and flowers! Nothing says spring to me more than bouquets of flowers! Today I have a spring water-colored card made with the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill. So easy to make, so fun to make, so wonderful to send to someone special!

Foil Quill Spring Card by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

I have a few current crafting obsessions, one, the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill, because I love the look of gold, and two, water color.

Foil Quill Spring Card by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

I picked up the new watercolor kit from Amy Tangerine and was looking for a project to use it on. And then I thought, why don’t I make an image with the Foil Quill on water color paper and color it in?! It worked perfectly!

Foil Quill Spring Card by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

Using a lovely floral image from Paige Evans digital drive, I created a card front. I began by creating a rectangle in the software of my digital die cutting machine, to the size of my card front. Then I laid out the images within that space. With the software, you can change the size of the design images easily, making them useable on a million different projects. The letters come separately, so I created a line for spacing and placed all my letters.

Design tip: Once you have the letters of your word lined up, select them all in the software, go to object, then group. Your word will now be joined. Making it easier to resize the word to fit your project.

Before sending the design to my digital die cutting machine to be foiled, I removed my rectangle and lines, so they would not be foiled with the rest of the design.

Foil Quill Spring Card by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

The water color paper I used was quite thick. I found that if I slowed the pen down to about half speed, the impression was much more solid. Also, note that watercolor paper often has two sides. One side is much more textured, the other is smoother. The smoother side will give you the best results.

Once the image was completed, I simply water-colored in the florals and the words.

Simple, sweet, elegant, and sure brighten someone’s mailbox. What images will you watercolor?

Ombre Glitter Tumbler With The Spin It

Hello We R Memory Keepers fans! Soraya here today to share my first experience making a tumbler with the new Spin It turner and its accessories!

Ombre Glitter Tumbler with the Spin It by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers

To make a tumbler you’ll need: the Spin It turner, spray glue, glitter, epoxy kit, gloves, popsicle sticks, wax paper to protect your surface and a cute vinyl design.

We R Memory Keepers Spin ItWe R Memory Keepers Spin It

The Spin It tool plugs into a USB power source making it easier to use!

We R Memory Keepers Spin It

For this first experience, I used a spray glue but you can also use Modge Podge with a brush. Make sure to tape off the bottom and top of the cup before spraying the glue.

I wanted a fun blue ombré so I went for silver, soft blue and navy for the color combo. I started on top of the cup with the lightest one : silver. Then I put back the glitter into the bottle thanks to the glitter clean up tray. I continued with the soft blue and finally the navy. Just let the Spin It turn at the lowest speed to be sure to put glitter everywhere! Smooth the color transitions with your fingers.

When the glitter is set up and the glue is completely dry, prepare your epoxy resin with solution A and solution B. Don’t forget to wear gloves all along the epoxy process since it’s a chemical product. Also, be sure to read all the instructions before trying it! Keep your windows open unless you craft outside. A and B must have the same volume ratio before being mixed togerther.

Spin It Tumbler by Soraya Maes-12Spin It Tumbler by Soraya Maes-13

Gently pour the expoxy on the tumbler then use your hand (with gloves!) to spread the resin all over it. Once you’re done with it, remove the tape then let the tumbler on the Spin It turner for about 4 hours. And here is the beautiful result!

Let’s add some fun with a vinyl design from the Spin It range. I chose to use the llama design.

The vinyl is on a transfer paper that you directly apply on the tumbler then take it off like a rubon.

Once the vinyl is perfectly in place, repeat the epoxy process and let the Spin It turn for about 4 hours. Take off the tape before letting the epoxy dry. The tumbler needs to dry 24 hours to be completely finished.

Video Tutorial: DIY Beach Themed Glitter Tumbler with the Spin It

Hello friends! It’s Aly here today with something I think might help get you through your Monday. I’ve been dreaming of heading to the beach for a sunny and relaxing vacay, so when I got my hands on the new Spin It tumbler turner that’s exactly where my creative brain went! I made a custom beach themed tumbler that I can fill with ice and my favorite cold drink, and since it’s insulated it will stay cold for hours.

DIY Beach Themed Glitter Tumbler featuring the Spin It tumbler turner by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I started out with a plain stainless steel tumbler that I picked up at Walmart, and looking at the colors of glitter on this tumbler now, I can just imagine lounging in the warm sand next to the gorgeous aqua water full of foamy waves under the clear blue sky. Are you with me?

Full disclosure: I am not a tumbler making expert. This is a totally new craft for me, but I can’t be any more excited than I am to be starting this fun creative journey! These custom beauties make excellent gifts for grandmas, moms, dads, grandpas, grads, bridesmaids, teachers and more. I’ve got crafty plans to make a ton of these this spring to give away!

DSC_0446

There are so many ways to make glitter tumblers and tons of tutorials on YouTube so I did some research, watched several tutorials and planned out my project. I used Sticky Thumb Double Sided Red Craft Tape in two different widths to create the glitter stripes on my tumbler. That’s an easy way to get nice clean lines and to apply the glitter before coating the tumbler with epoxy.

IMG-8835

I also used a clear spray sealer to seal the glitter before adding epoxy. That way the different colors of glitter don’t get spread around and mixed up while adding the coat of epoxy.

Here are a few tips I picked up as I did my research and completed this project:

  • Work with epoxy in a ventilated area. We R Memory Keepers epoxy doesn’t have strong fumes, but it still has a slight smell that you may not want in your craft room or house.
  • READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS FIRST! Epoxy has a limited working time so you want to be sure you know what you’re doing before you mix it up.
  • If you want your glitter colors to really pop and look vibrant, try spray painting the outside of your tumbler white before adding the glitter (which I didn’t do, so my colors are more muted).
  • Super Chunky glitter doesn’t work well with thin stripes–stick with large surface areas if you want to add super chunky glitter. Trust me–I know because I started with one color of super chunky glitter and had to remove and re-do some stripes.
  • For medium glitter, apply one coat of epoxy and allow to cure completely. Then sand with medium grain sandpaper, buff with fine sand paper, wash thoroughly by hand, and then apply a second coat of epoxy.

sanding

So, now that I’ve share some things I learned in my creative process, check out the video tutorial below. Please note: I did not take video of spraying the glitter sealer, or doing the sanding and final layer of epoxy since that part is pretty self explanatory and I already showed how to add the first layer of epoxy. I do mention them in the video so you know when those steps need to happen.
