Hey We R friends, Laura here today! Mother’s Day is right around the corner. I love to make something special when I can because I think handmade gifts are so special. Today, I am going to share with you how to create this Mother’s Day paper flower canvas. You can personalize it to your mom’s liking by choosing her favorite color flowers.
The Mini Evolution is the perfect little tool for creating small embellishments like paper flowers and leaves. I am using the Vicki Boutin stamps and die sets, but any flower and leaf die would work great for this project!
Use the Mini Evolution to cut out your flower die cuts. I used textured shimmer cardstock, but you can use any color you like. Since I was using 12 x 12-inch paper, I cut it down to 3” wide before beginning so it would fit in the Mini Evolution.
I was able to get six flowers out of each strip – two large, two medium, and two smalls.
Next, I used the Mini Evolution to die cut some leaf shapes. I used the embossing folder that came with the Mini Evolution. To me it looked a little like the veins you find on leaves. I left the smallest leaves plain as I planned on stamping them.
Use your stamp pad and stamp the smallest flowers and leaves using black ink.
I know there are special tools for rolling the edges of paper flowers, but personally I like to simply use a small diameter smooth pencil to curl mine. I curled the edges on both the medium and large flower die cuts.
I assembled the flowers by using adhesive and foam dots to create a three-layer flower.
To attach everything to the canvas I used sticky red tape. It is stronger than regular adhesive, so the flowers won’t fall off. You could also attach the flowers to the canvas using hot glue.
You could personalize this canvas even further to make it extra special for your mom. You can paint the background, add the word Mom with paper or iron-on, or add some gold glitter to the edges.
