Father’s Day Mini Album

I made a mini album for Father’s Day. In Germany we already celebrated this day two weeks ago. My daughter painted small pictures and wrote letters for her dad. These should come into the album.

So I wanted to integrate little pockets into the album. All the little letters should come into these. This gave me the idea to do the whole album with the Pocket Maker Punchboard. Also the book cover should be a pocket.

The inner part consists of 6 pockets. I created them all with the Pocket Maker Punchboard. This was very quick and easy. For one pocket I used a painted picture of my daughter. Also a photo is suitable well for a bag. Here you have to be careful that the motive is not too big. So that it is not cut off during folding.

Please note that the bottom side of the pockets is not glued. This must be open so that the pockets can be sewn to the spine of the book.

If you still want to edit the pockets with the Mini Clear Cut Punch or the Word Punch Board, do so before the bags are bound into the album.

When you’ve finished the bags, the book cover will be made. I have made this bag longer than the size shown in the table. I wrote the measurement on the photo. I hope you can see it.

The pocket is narrow and long. The spine is 1.25 inch wide. So that the 6 pockets have enough space.

Maybe you can see it on the photo. I folded the bag at 3 inches and at 1 ¾ inch.

That’s what your book cover looks like. Now glue the back pocket to the book cover.

Then the remaining pockets are attached to the spine of the book with the Book Binding Guide. I have sketched the inside of the spine. Whereby on my picture a dot is missing.

I made this only for orientation. The distance can vary afterwards. Because there are 5 pockets, which are sewn in.

Now the lower fold is fastened from the pocket into the ruler. Therefore the flap must be open. I have attached the bag to the spine of the book with clamps. So that it does not shift. Now prick the holes for the normal book binding with the needle.

If the bag is attached to the spine of the book, the bottom side of the bag can be glued.
