Back to School Party with the Foil Quill

Hello We R friends, it’s Aly here today! Can you believe it’s “back to school” season already? I’m totally not ready for my kids to go back to school, so I thought a fun Back to School Party might help us all get excited for the new school year!

Since I really want this celebration to be special, I pulled out my Foil Quill Pens and Foil to add some sparkle and shine. The Holiday USB Design Drive has some fun school themed art so I started there and added a few things from my own library of SVG files.

I love combining foiling with cutting because it makes my projects go much more quickly. Using my Silhouette Cameo 3, here’s how I foiled two colors and die cut the cupcake wrappers:

  1. Heat up your Foil Quill. Open your cut files and your foiling files and arrange them at the bottom end of the mat on your screen.
  2. Using the Line Style tool create different color lines for each color of foil, and for the cut files as well.
  3. Click “SEND” and then “Line” at the top right of your screen. Insert your Foil Quill in the tool holder with the blue circle and make sure your blade is in the tool holder with the red circle.
  4. Check the box for the first color of foil, adjust your settings for your material. Be sure the blue tool holder is selected (the small circle on the right) and load the mat in the machine with the material and foil placed at the bottom end of your mat. Click “SEND”.screenshot 1
  5. When the foiling is finished, the machine will move the mat most of the way out of the machine. Do not unload the mat! Carefully peel off the foil, and then add the second color of foil while the mat is still loaded in the machine.
  6. Unselect the box for the first color of foil, and select the box for the second foil color. Adjust the settings. Be sure the blue tool holder is selected. Click “SEND”.screenshot 2
  7. As before, do not unload the mat when the machine is done foiling the second color. Carefully remove the foil.
  8. Unselect the box for the second color of foil, and select the box for the cut files. Be sure the red tool holder is selected (on the left) and click “SEND”.screenshot 3
  9. Assemble the cupcake wraps with hot glue or strong double sided craft tape

For the cupcake wrappers I used the Foil Quill to add the sentiment. Then for the paper airplane toppers I used it to create a patterned background on my cardstock, trimmed several 3×3 inch squares, and then used the Mini Score Board to help fold the mini paper airplanes.

We R Memory Keepers Mini Score Board

To make the framed art, I used one of the designs from the Holiday USB drive as a cut file on white vinyl, and then adhered it to the 9×13 Crate Paper Magnet Studio chalkboard frame. The Large Bone Folder help to smooth out the vinyl nicely. I foiled the apple design from the Holiday USB drive on red vinyl, cut a circle around it and then adhered it to the chalkboard. I love the result!

To make the banner, I used the apple design again but created a repeating pattern with it to make my own foiled patterned paper! So cool!

The new 12 x 12 Foil Sheets came in really handy for this job. I just placed them over my cardstock, foiled the entire thing, and then used my Banner Punch Board to make the banners.

Make Back to School Bookmarks with the Foil Quill

Hello everyone. Enza here, and today I’m sharing a new, fun project featuring the amazing Foil Quill. My kids are avid readers and love to collect bookmarks, so I thought to surprise them with a set of unique and “shiny” ones that I’m sure will put a smile on their faces 😉

Back to School Bookmarks with the Foil Quill by Enza Gudor for We R Memory Keepers

I started by choosing the designs I wanted to use; most of them come from the Paige Evans USB Drive, but I also have a couple from the Amy Tangerine and the We R Memory Keepers Icons and Words ones. After importing the images in my software, I resized and arranged them to fit a 12×12 smooth cardstock. Since the designs are very detailed and small, I used the Fine Tip Pen for the foiling process. There are many Foil Packs to choose from, all including gorgeous colors. I went with a variety from the following ones: Flamingo, Gold Finch, and Peacock.

Bookmarks_FoilQuill_EnzaGudor2

Once ready, I trimmed the bookmarks to measure roughly 3”x7” using the We R Memory Keepers Trim and Scoreboard. I matted them with patterned paper from the gorgeous Pink Paislee Truly Grateful collection by Paige Evans, as well as textured cardstock that coordinated with the foiled designs. I punched holes at the top with my Crop-a-dile and used the Hole Reinforcer Punch to make them more durable. I finished the bookmarks with satin ribbon, and embellishments and sentiments from the same collection.

And here are three additional bookmarks that I decided to keep for myself 😉

I fussy cut some of the designs and used them as embellishments.

Capture Summer Memories on a Traveler’s Notebook Spread

Hey there We R friends, Laura here today. This summer has flown by for us and I can hardly believe it is almost time for school to start again. Our summer was a busy one. We moved from our first home we lived in for over 13 years to a new house. I don’t have any time for scrapbooking right now, so I thought a fun traveler’s journal spread showing some of our favorite summer memories would do the trick!

Summer Travelers Notebook Spread by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I started by gathering all my favorite Journal Studio supplies which included the travel workspace loaded up with some die cuts, pens, washi tape, and a blank notebook. I also got out the Journal Studio stickers and embellishment organizer.

Summer Travelers Notebook Spread by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I trimmed down a sentiment from the Amy Tangerine Stay Sweet papers using my scissors and the mini trimmer. I love using the mini trimmer for journals and traveler’s notebooks since all my elements need to stay small on the page.

Summer Travelers Notebook Spread by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I created a list of some of the fun things I could remember off the top of my head on a sticker from the pack. Then, I went through my photos on my phone and created a photo collage in Canva that I printed out on cardstock and then trimmed to fit.

Summer Travelers Notebook Spread by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I used more of the Amy Tangerine paper to create a mat for my photo collage. I added the dates onto a pineapple die cut.

Summer Travelers Notebook Spread by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I wrote directly onto the journal notebook about how busy our summer has been with moving, but how we are still trying to squeeze some fun out of our summer.

Watermelon and pineapple accents completed my embellishments for the layout.

I love how this layout turned out. It is a quick snapshot of our summer that helps me to remember what we did as a family for the summer.

I can’t wait to do more spreads for winter, spring, and fall for this year to add to my notebook. It will be a great jumpstart to remembering everything when I have a little more time to do some full scrapbook layouts.

How to Make a Traveler’s Notebook

When I travel, I often write a traveler´s notebook. However, I often do not write it until after our holiday at home. I have time and with the photos I find it easier to decorate.

Traveler's Notebook by Steffi Ried for We R Memory Keepers

At the beginning of July I taught workshops in Santiago, Chile. I took notes during the trip. What I did, what I saw and so on. And when I was back home, I created the Traveler´s Notebook.

IMG_0800

First, I put all the tickets, city maps, bills, etc. on the table. The appropriate papers selected, the tools from WRMK Journal Studio, as well as a Journal Inserts from Crate Paper.

IMG_0796

Since I like to mix different papers for my Traveler´s Notebook, I took the Journal apart. Therefore, I cut the binding and cut more papers in the same format with the trimmer. Then I mixed some empty pages from the Journal Inserts with the patterned papers and bound them together again with the Book Binding Tool. This is very fast and makes the album more interesting. One of my favourite tools J

IMG_0793

The Interchangeable Self-Ink Stamp with the usable mini stamps is great for my Traveler´s Notebook. First I made a small bag out of Vellum. For this I used the tool Pocket Maker Punchboard.

The bag is for the plane tickets. Therefore, I decorated it with the airplane stamp.

IMG_0794

I love the Magnetic Symbol Stencils. I have decorated a big photo with them. With a white waterproof pen it works great.

IMG_0789

I like it very much to decorate my album with small details. On another page I used the stencils again. First I put the numbers on the white cardstock with the template. Then I punched them out with a Circle Puncher. Now thread the numbers onto a yarn with sequins. With the Crop-A-Dile holes punched in the side and the yarn with the date wrapped around the paper.

IMG_0791IMG_0790

After the Traveler´s Notebook was filled, I tied it together. For this I punched out the title with the Alphabet Punch Board. The cover was designed with colorful acrylic colors and the title was glued with 3D glue dots.

IMG_0799

I tied the album together with a rubber band. For this the backside of the album cover is reinforced. Then small embellishments are attached to the tape and tied together. Now thread the rubber from the inside through the loop and pull it through the loop. So that the rubber is fastened on the back of the album. Now it can be pulled around the album to close it. Ready J

The Journal Studio tools are very practical. It’s quick and easy to make your pages beautiful. I like that very much.

See you next time.

Peekaboo Gift Boxes with the Mini Clear Cut Punches

Hi there!  It’s Rebecca today and I’m sharing a new favorite way to add extra fun to gift wrapped packages.  WRMK introduced some new Clear Cut Punches a couple months ago, which offer the ease of a shaped punch with the added ability to punch anywhere on your paper.  I took full advantage of this benefit to create my peekaboo gift boxes.

Peekaboo Gift Boxes with the Mini Clear Cut Punches by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I started with the fixings for making some boxes with 12×12 scrapbook papers by DCWV’s Easy Peasy stack.  I made enough to create three 4″ x 4″ x 4″ boxes with the 1-2-3 Punchboard.  After following the directions, I scored the proper lines, but didn’t assemble them yet, as I thought it would be easier to use the Clear Cut Punches on flat paper.

I chose 1″ circles and 1″ stars for the little peekaboo windows and punched the shapes into what would become the sides of the boxes.  Sandwich your paper between the top and bottom of the punches and align the “UP” punch top (clear aqua plastic circle that goes with the white top) and the arrow that points up on the aqua base of the punch.  This allows for the magnets in the punches to set together and you get a clean punch with ease.  I punched a few shapes per side.

On two of the boxes, I used decorative paper to cover each block on the inside.  This offers a contrasting design inside each punched window.  It also stabilizes the box frame and makes it a little thicker and sturdier.  Be mindful of where you place your adhesive, though, being cautious around the punched-out shapes.  You don’t want unsightly adhesive showing through!

For the third box, I tried something extra fun, filling some flat 3 1/4″ square acetate bags with gold sequins.  You can use regular acetate sheets if you’d rather.  I placed each sequin pack over the punched-out windows, and used clear tape to adhere them, again being careful so it isn’t seen through any of the windows.  I then backed each bag with a peach-colored patterned paper from Amy Tangerine.

The sequins in this extra-special gift box shake when the box shakes!  You can try using colored paper trimmings for confetti, of even glitter instead of sequins.  I topped the box with a trio of yarn pom poms and some peach twine.

For my other packages, I used green grosgrain ribbon and made bows with the 1-2-3 Punchboard.  I made them in size Large and in the same papers that are seen through the punched windows.

You can do all kinds of fun things with the Clear-Cut punches, from scrapbooking to cardmaking to gift wrapping!  I hope you’ll give these festive boxes a try–I can’t wait to give these away!

How to Make Shaker Cards with the Mini Clear Cut Punches

Hello We R Fans! Happy summer, finally! The warm temps leave me wanting to be outside all day, but I still need to make cards for birthdays and friends. Leave it to We R Memory Keepers to make tools to make card-making fast and easy, and of course, it will still be adorable! The new Clear Cut Punch Minis are cute and so helpful for any paper crafting! Check out how I made quick shaker cards that make me smile!

The Oh, Summertime papers from Pebbles, Inc, have bright colors and have a sheet of 2×2 squares.  Inside those squares are images that I knew would be perfect to punch out and turn into tiny shakers! That’s the best part about the Clear Cut Punches-you can see exactly where you will punch, highlighting the best parts of your patterned papers!

Shaker Cards with the Mini Clear Cut Punches by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

I began by cutting individual squares from the patterned paper. I placed a square of paper on the base of the punch. When I placed my punch down on my work surface, I made sure that the small arrow on the base was pointing upwards. On top of the paper, the teal disc was placed. It lines up with the magnets on the punch base. The teal disc also has the word “up” on it, to make lining up even easier.

If your patterned paper image is not lined up quite as you wish, gently slide the paper around, leaving the teal disc on top. The paper moves easily and the opening on the inside shows what part of the image will be punched from the paper.

Shaker Cards with the Mini Clear Cut Punches by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

To begin my shaker-making, I placed the square of patterned paper on my card base. (striped paper is my base) Adhesive was applied to the circle that was punched away and then the circle was placed back in its spot. By doing this, my images will all align and create a complete image.

To the back of the square patterned paper, adhesive was added, along with clear transparency. Foam squares were adhered around the opening on top of the transparency. These two steps create the shaker.

To the circle on the card base, I added my sequins, keeping them completely inside the shape. Then the backing was removed from the foam and the image placed over the top. Shaker done. Adorably done!

First of all, trim a white cardstock according to the right dimension of your planner. Mine is the Mini Memory Planner by Heidi Swapp so my cardstock measures 17×9.5 cm. Use the Trim & Score Board for an easy cut. Then punch the holes with the Planner Punch Board refering to the chart of planners you have on the back of the punch.

Handmade Cards with the Mini Laser Square

Hello everyone! It’s Eva on the blog today sharing a card trio using the new Mini Laser Square.

Handmade Cards with the Mini Laser Square by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

The Mini Laser Square is perfect for cards, envelopes and crafting on the go. It has a sliding laser guide so you aligning die cuts, sticker, stamps, etc. quick and easy.

For my first card I decided to align some die cut letters. I simply put my card on the Mini Laser Square, moved the laser guide to the desired height and use the laser to perfectly align my letters. Super easy and perfect for batch projects.

Handmade Cards with the Mini Laser Square by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I used some foam dots to give more dimension to my letters and then embellished with some acetate shapes. Tip: If you are using foam dots, glue the last letters first so the height doesn’t alter the laser.

By the way, this gorgeous papers and embellishments are form the Color Fresh collection by Heidi Swapp!

For the second card, I used my Mini Laser Square to align stamps. It is a great technique if you need to change stamps and colors each time! You can also create perfect spacing between each line because the laser squares has measures in inches and centimeters.
