Fall Cider Bar with the Foil Quill Freestyle Pens

Hey guys, Aly Dosdall here. Fall is on the way, and before you know it, it will be sweater weather! One of my favorite fall traditions is apple cider. I have a hot cup almost every night during the cold weather (sugar free, of course). I’m so inpsired by my love for cider, that I decided to create this fun idea for a fall get-together–an apple cider bar!

Throw this together after an evening at the corn maze or pumpkin patch, and enjoy some yummy warm drinks and fall snacks! This project features the Foil Quill Freestyle Pens, and I love the sparkle the foil adds to this pretty fall scene.

For the fall leaf backdrop, I cut out some leaf shapes with my Silhouette Cameo 3. I used some shapes from the Foil Quill USB Drives, and others from my personal library of SVG files.

The focal piece of this party decor is the banner, which I created with the Banner Punch Board, some black smooth cardstock, the Alphabet Punch Board and papers from the DCWV Inc Cider Woods stack, available at Joann Stores. To add foil to the banner, I used a metal magnetic ruler, magnetic mat, and the Calligraphy Tip Freestyle Pen to get the wide lines.

I also made some bottle tags for the apple cider! I love the copper foil with the cider–it looks so warm and inviting.

I handwrote these tags, and then punched them out with the bracket Clear Cut Punch. If you have great handwriting, it looks pretty cool, but even if you don’t love your handwriting, it’s a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your projects–your own writing in foil! So cool!

Here’s how I made the bottle tags–super easy! I cut 3×7 inch blocks of patterned paper, rounded the corners with the 3 Way Corner Rounder, scored them in half, and then punched a 2 inch hole in the center of one half. (You can save the leftover 2 inch circles for another project.)

To make the cinnamon streusel muffin topper I used one of the Heatwave Stencils, and punched the letters out with the Tag Clear Cut Punch.

Again, I used the Calligraphy Tip Pen to fill in the letters from my Heatwave Stencil. This would also make a great cake or cupcake topper!

Then I made some embellishments for the cups holding the cider mix-ins: one cup of caramels (drop them in and let them melt, then stir) and one cup of cinnamon sticks (place them in and stir, then let them sit).

The technique for making these is one of my favorites to use with the Freestyle Pens! I printed the fall images on thin copy paper and then placed the printed images over the foil, which was over my cardstock. The foil transfers beautifully even with the copy paper on top. You can also use vellum or tracing paper. Then I punched out the foiled designs.

The images I used are PNG files from the Holiday Foil Quill USB Drive. Each USB drive has both SVG and PNG files, and you can open the PNG files in a word document and print them for tracing!

I love how the Freestyle Pens add such a special touch to my fall project. I can’t wait to use them for holiday projects too!
