Traveler’s Notebook with The Works All In One Tool

Hello and welcome. I’m Steffi and I will show you my next project. For this I worked for the first time with the great new tool “The Works”.

How cool is that!? So many things you can do with it. For my Travel Journal I tried two of the twelve features. It’s totally easy and very fast!

Traveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi Ried

In a travel journal, small pockets are always very practical. You can store tickets, notes, photos, cards, etc. in them. I really like that.

This time I wanted to put several pockets for different things on one side. Small envelopes are best suited for this.

And with the “The Works” tool it’s very easy.

Traveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi Ried

First I selected 5 different papers and cut them to the corrrect size according to the measuring guide that comes with the tool.

My page in the travel journal is 4 inch wide, so I made 3 x 3 1/2 inch envelopes.

Traveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi Ried

Then I followed the instructions in the enclosed booklet to score the envelopes.

After that I punched small notches on the scored lines.

Once all 5 envelopes were finished, I glued them together. It is best to always try to keep an even distance. But I didn’t use an exact measure for this.

Finally, decorate the envelopes with words (photos, tickets, journaling,…). The pockets are ready and can be filled with all kinds of things.

Traveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi Ried

Another feature of the tool I tried was for making tags. First I wanted to create tags in different colors and sizes and then tie them together at the top.

But I used a map of the city Santiago de Chile. Often you bring a small map from your travels. One would like to incorporate this into the album. But only how?

Traveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi Ried

First I cut and folded the map. So that I have 3 sections in the same size.

Traveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi Ried

Now fold the card and punch a hole first. For this there is a punch on the side of the device.

Traveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi RiedTraveler's Notebook with The Works All In One Tool by Steffi Ried

Then the folded card is put on the board and the corners are cut off. And the fold out map is ready.

Finally I attached a ribbon some small tags to the map. Just glue the map into the album and the fold out card is already integrated into the album.

I hope you enjoyed my contribution. With the “The Works” tool you can create a lot of great things.

I will sit at my desk again and try out more of them. Have a lot of fun with “The Works – All In One Tool”.

Yours, Steffi

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution

Happy October!  This is Rebecca with you and I look forward to this month every year–cooler weather, Halloween, and October means it’s officially time to put decorative leaves on EVERYTHING!  They can go all over the house, on cards, on DIY projects, and of course (especially), on gift wrap.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I’m extra excited today because I got to use the brand new WRMK Revolution for this project (and most likely every day for the foreseeable future).  I’ve had the same die cutting machine for about 5 years and I’ve been thinking lately that it’s time to replace it.  It’s officially been replaced by the Revolution!  I love this machine–it’s durable, easy to use and set up, and comes with an awesome magnetic plate that is incredibly handy, as in, bye-bye washi tape keeping my dies in place and sometimes ripping my cardstock and die cuts.  I made so many cuts with my new Revolution for today’s project and it saved me so much time.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Gift wrapping is my most favorite hobby and I often use die cuts on my packaging in one form or another, even if it’s just for the tag.  Today, I’m making the die cuts the focus; all of the embellishments except for the ribbon have been die cut on my trio of gift boxes.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

The first thing I did was choose some pretty paper, which was easy thanks to the Faded Floral paper stack from DCWV.  I chose a couple of papers to wrap up some boxes and some coordinating designs to cut the die cuts out of.

Revolution_Gift_Wrap_by_Rebecca_Luminarias_04

*I love to use scrapbook paper to wrap small boxes, but it’s heavier than typical wrapping paper–which is one reason I love it so much.  To help with that, I like to use a bone folder to crease the folds.  I also run it along the box edges, firmly pressing down to help get a sharp crease.  Your average cello tape is probably not going to cut it and keep the flaps from staying put, so I recommend some extra strong double-sided tape like American Crafts’ Sticky Thumb super sticky tape for that. *

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

On the first box, wrapped in an orange stripe paper, I cut out 5 leafy branches to create a wreath.  The paper I used has a black background with an orange and green design so it’s a nice contrast to the lighter wrap.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I chose a good-sized ‘thank you’ die with some gold glitter paper for the sentiment, but if you’d rather put a name or initial there, that would work, too.  You can easily change the sentiment for a different occasion, as well.  The final step for this gift was a black ribbon bow.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

My next gift is another box, this time wrapped in green paper.  I chose something dark because I had already cut a bunch of oak leaves out of some of the lighter floral patterns from the Faded Floral stack.  I gently shaped the leaves with a bone folder, giving them a slight curl upward.  Then I arranged a group of 5 leaves on the left side of the box.  They splay out, almost like a pinwheel, and when I tied the peach ribbon around the box, I tied the bow in the center of the leaf pile, where all of the stems meet.  A small tag and a ‘thanks’ die cut finish off this gift.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

You don’t have to save the die cuts just to use on wrapped boxes, though.  They’re functional for any kind of package.  My last gift is a small box with a copper-painted top.  This box is incredibly simple to duplicate, but it’s still so pretty!  I cut 3 more oak leaves from the loveliest paper (it complements the gift box wonderfully) and situated the trio like a bouquet on the box top.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

This was followed by a length of black ribbon tied in a bow; I waited to adhere the leaves until the ribbon was in place, as it works as a guide so you can be sure the leaves are centered on the box.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I chose another single word die to place on top of the leaves and cut it from black glitter paper for an elegant contrast.  Something like this would make a very pretty party or wedding favor package.  It’s simple and inexpensive if you die cut the leaves and words yourself.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Revolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I can’t recommend decorating your packages with die cuts enough!  The results are always fun and if you have the supplies, it definitely beats paying $3+ for a store-bought bow.  And did I mention that the Revolution makes the task so much easier with a 6″ x 8″ magnetic platform?  I got a clean, crisp cut every time and now I’ve got 3 lovely gifts ready for delivery.

Mini Envelope Birthday Cards

Good morning, We R readers, Laura here today. I am excited to share how to create these cute mini envelope birthday cards for the World Cardmaking Day celebration on the blog this week.

Mini Envelope Birthday Cards by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Mini things are my favorite, and I am loving all the mini tools We R Memory Keepers has added this year. Today, I am using the mini envelope punch board and mini evolution to create a set of cute birthday cards.

I started by trimming and scoring solid colored cardstock to create horizontal 4” x 6” cards. I then trimmed a piece of white cardstock to fit inside the solid card base.

Next, I used the mini evolution, label maker tape, and a label embossing folder to create Happy Birthday sentiments for each of the cards. The label tape is so fun and is easy to use with any project. Since it already has adhesive on the back, it makes it simple to add cute sayings or designs to your cards.

Then, I used the mini envelope punch board to create some adorable tiny envelopes using the DCWV Butterflies & Flowers paper pack. The finished envelopes are only 1 ½” by 2”!

I closed one of the envelopes and left the second envelope open. I attached them to the card front using adhesive. I created a little note to come out of the open envelope using white cardstock and a Thickers chipboard accent sticker.

I added a little balloon coming out of the envelope and attached some baker’s twine to finish it off. The closed envelope got a cute little rhinestone embellishment on the envelope closure.

These adorable little birthday cards are prefect for sending to a loved one. You could easily adapt this design for almost any occasion using a different embossed label sentiment at the bottom and a unique note coming out of the envelope.

Making Cards with The Works All In One Tool

Hello WeR fans! It’s Eva on the blog today, sharing a card trio using only ONE tool.

Make Handmade Cards with The Works All In One Tool by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

The All in One Tool -The Works – it is your perfect craft companion. With just one tool you can: cut, score, stamp and create: envelopes, tabs, tags, pom-poms, tassels, banners and bows! I love mine!

For today’s project I am doing a set of cards using the lovely This Is Family line from Pebbles.

One of the coolest features of this tool is the stamping plate. It is magnetic so you can remove it is you don’t want to use it and the tool comes with two magnets to hold your paper in place while you stamp. I used a “Thanks” sentiment in several colors and instead of moving the stamp I simply slide the paper up or down following the scoring lines. Very easy!

Make Handmade Cards with The Works All In One Tool by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I trimmed my paper like a tag using the Tag Guide and punched a hole in the middle using the Hole Punch included on this tool.

A few embellishments and my card was done!

For my next card I decided to create a few tassels. The tool has 4 pegs and several holes so you can create tassels in different heights. If you want your tassel to be fuller simply turn your yarn around a few more times.

I completed my card with a fussy cut image decorated with watercolors.

Finally, my third card was very simple. I used a tag and created a bow with the same pegs as the tassel. Perfectly tied bows all the time! You can use ribbon, twine or thread and create a variety of bows.

These sweet cards needed a lovely envelope so I used the Envelope Chart to determine the paper size I needed to use and using the Envelope Guide I scored all the lines.

Next, I used the Envelope Punch and Corner Punch to finish my work. Lovely envelops in minutes!

Make a Halloween Mini Album with the Foil Quill

Hello We R fans! It’s Aly here with you today to share an easy and impactful Halloween scrapbooking project. I used the Foil Quill and my Silhouette Cameo to create custom foiled patterned paper and titles to make my album. Check it out!

Let me show you how I made this Foil Quill Halloween Mini Album! First, I foiled some spider web designs on black cardstock to make custom foiled patterned paper. I sized the images to 6 inches so I could cut them down and make 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 pockets.

IMG_1216IMG_1217

Using the Magnetic Mat made the job quicker since I was foiling only and not cutting. I used the Standard Tip and a Silver 12×12 Foil Sheet. The spider web designs are from my personal SVG library, and the words and phrases are from THIS Hello Heidi Digital Halloween Bundle.

I trimmed the paper down to the size indicated on the Pocket Punch Board to make 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 inch notch pockets, and made my pockets.

Foil Pumpkin Ornaments with the Freestyle Pen

Hello We R friends, Laura here today. I have been busy decorating my house for fall. I always find fun craft blanks at the dollar store. I found some cute wooden pumpkin ornaments to decorate and thought they would be perfect to use with the Foil Quill Freestyle Pen.

Foil Quill Freestyle Pen Pumpkin Ornaments by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Start by painting your wooden pumpkins. You could leave the wood grain depending on your design, but I thought painting them orange and green first would really make the foil stand out.

Foil Quill Freestyle Pen Pumpkin Ornaments by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Allow them to dry thoroughly. This doesn’t take long if you are using acrylic paint.

For the first pumpkin, I freehanded lines on the pumpkin with orange foil.

Foil Quill Freestyle Pen Pumpkin Ornaments by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Then, I used a Heatwave stencil to create a little green pumpkin vine and leaves. I found it was easiest to line up the stencil by cutting my foil to the size of the design I was tracing.

On the next pumpkin I wanted to add our name to the pumpkin. I don’t always love my handwriting, so I designed something on my computer and printed it out on regular copy paper.

I taped the copy paper in place on my pumpkin first to make sure I had everything lined up correctly. Then I carefully lifted the copy paper and placed my foil underneath. I taped it in place, so it didn’t move while I was writing.

I used both the bold and fine tip pens for the words. I used the bold Freestyle Foil Quill pen for the cursive and the fine tipped one for words THE and FAMILY.

To get good coverage with the pens when using a paper template, I found it was best to go slowly and to press firmly. I got good results using this method, but you could also print out your design using a thinner paper like tracing paper.

Tie ribbon to the top of the ornament to hang.

How to Foil on 3D Projects with the Freestyle Pen

Autumn is already coming around here. I like to decorate our house for it.

Over the last few days I have foiled many objects with the Foil Quill Pen. And I created my first 3D project without paper. Yes really! Without paper. And I love it.

Foil on your Fall Decor with the Freestyle Pen by Steffi Ried for We R Memory Keepers

I really wanted to foil our autumn decor with the Freestyle Foil Quill Pen. So first I bought some pumpkins and painted them. The decoration should be bright and light. After I painted the pumpkin with white acrylic paint, I used the Freestyle Pen (Standard). A few hearts foiled with rose gold on it and it’s done! Totally simple. I was surprised how easy it works.

Foil on your Fall Decor with the Freestyle Pen by Steffi Ried for We R Memory Keepers

In autumn I like candles very much as decoration on the table. So I foiled some candles with the Free Style Pen.

Foil on your Fall Decor with the Freestyle Pen by Steffi Ried for We R Memory KeepersFoil on your Fall Decor with the Freestyle Pen by Steffi Ried for We R Memory Keepers

At first, I tested on a few old candles. I found out that you should write quickly. Because the hot tip of the pen melts the wax. But with a little practice it is quite simple. First fix the foil with the Washi Tape to the candle. Then, draw your design with the pen.

Excess wax can easily be scraped off with scissors. This way the unattractive areas can be repaired.

Finally I foiled some leaves on acetate with the Freestyle Pen. Then I simply cut them out with scissors.

I decorated the vase with the foil leaves. I scattered the remaining leaves on the table. Maybe I’ll make a garland out of them. My daughter already has an plan.

October Journal Dashboard

Hello and happy Friday! Aly Dosdall back again. My crafting style is usually pretty clean and graphic, but recently I’ve decided to play around with some fun mixed media techniques and broaden my crafty horizons a bit. The new Impressed Stamping Daubers and Dauber Bottle were the perfect way to delve into some mixed media fun, and I used them to create my October journal dasboard. Check it out!

October TN Dashboard by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers 3

I include photos in my journal, so I really wanted to highlight these photos of the leaves starting to change in our yard as this is what the beginning of October represents where I live.

October TN Dashboard by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers 7

October TN Dashboard by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers 5

I used some simple and fun techniques with the stamping daubers to get this colorful look on my dashboard, and I’ll show you how!

I started by cutting out some fall leaf shapes from a scrap of vinyl with my Evolution. I used those as masks on my dashboard, and spread them around the layout in a visual triangle.

step out 1

Then I used the Standard tip Freestyle Pen and some copper Foil Quill foil to write my title. While my handwriting skills are lacking, I feel it’s important to include some of my handwriting in my journal since it’s a part of who I am!

step out 2

Next, I choose some of my favorite fall colors that coordinate with the colors in my photos. I used the daubers to apply the ink to the back of an acrylic stamping block. I filled the dauber bottle with water, and then daubed some water on the block next to the ink, being careful not to get ink on the dauber bottle. I used my stamping dauber to mix the two together to get a watercolor consistency from the ink.

step out 3

Then I applied the ink to my dashboard in horizontal strokes, using my stamping dauber as a brush. I paid extra attention to the fall leaf masks to make sure the ink surrounded the shapes competely.

step out 4

Once the ink dried, I used the Precision Press Pattern Stamps and Stamping Block to stamp in a white color over the ink to add some dimension and layers to the dashboard. Then I removed the vinyl masks, and look how cool it turned out!

step out 5

I added a copper foil outline inside the fall leaf shapes using the metal die I had cut the vinyl with as a template. I first placed the die over the leaf shape and used at piece of washi tape at the very top to secure the die. Then I lifted it up and slid the foil underneath. Then I traced around the inside of the die.

step out 6step out 7

I finished off my dashboard by adding a few embellishments and a tab to mark where October starts in my journal. The Staple Board made it easy to add the tab to my page.

step out 8

I love how my dashboard turned out! Mixed media is a step outside of my comfort zone, but with the Impressed Stamping Daubers is was fun and easy to create this colorful dashboard!

How to Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps

Hello!  It’s Rebecca with you today, taking on autumn-inspired packages and spotlighting some WRMK stamping tools, specifically the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution Stamp, Die, and Emboss kit.  I have a tutorial for you for the stamping portion of the gifts, along with a couple of tips to make your projects sail along smoothly.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory KeepersMake DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

My first tip: Read the directions!!  I know, it seems so simple, but I often jump right into a thing without giving the directions a second thought, especially if it’s something I think I already know how to do, like stamping.  If you’re working with either of the Precision Presses (Advanced or Mini) or the kit, it’s going to help you sort out all the products and use the presses correctly.  Also, there are helpful tips in the directions, like stamping your lighter colored images first and using the perfect paper size.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I’m starting with the Celebrate tag.  The components to create this pretty floral piece line up exactly with the pegs of the Mini Precision Press.  These stamps will also work with plain clear acrylic blocks or the large Precision Press; likewise, the Mini Precision Press is a great tool for any of your smaller stamps, not just these.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Align the stamps to the press first, then position your cardstock.  Tip: I recommend using a bit of washi tape to keep it in place.  Rub a good quality white eraser over your stamps to remove oils or lint and smooth the clear stamp surface to absorb the ink.  When you’re ready, ink up the stamp, and press to your cardstock.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

You may get great coverage on your very first try, and you may not, which is why a stamping tool like the PP is nice to use.  This is also why it’s good to use the washi to keep the paper in place.  Stamp again if needed and then add the second part of the image–the leafy spray.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory KeepersMake DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

If you’re using this kit, and these particular images, you can run your paper through the Mini Evolution with the die cutting/embossing folder.  It will create the tag you see here.  I also made a tag from some DCWV patterned paper that I’ll use for my gift wrap.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

The above stamps were coordinated and placed just-so, but what if you want to make your own design?  That’s just as simple with the PP.  On a different tag, I decided to use some of the other stamps in the kit.  I love to create my own backgrounds and it’s difficult to mess up if you’re using a stamp guide.  You’ll always know exactly where you’re stamping your images.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I taped my cardstock to the platform base again to keep it from moving since this design requires more placing/removing of the clear top piece.  Place your stamps face down on your paper in the position and area you want them, press the top piece down to grab them, and lift off.  When you put it back down with ink on the stamp, it will be right where you meant to stamp the image.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

When I’m creating a design like this, I make sure to clean off my stamp between each round so I don’t get smudges on my paper.  It’s an extra step if you’re using the same stamp over and over, but you know you’ll get great results each time.  In the end, I have a pretty paper swatch, ready to be turned into a tag.  Tip: You can use a different ink each time you stamp an image for an extra colorful design!

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

After my tags were created, it was time to make the packaging, which I did with my trusty 1-2-3 Punch Board.  I chose an A7 size envelope box this time.  It’s as easy to make as an envelope, but there’s an extra scored line on each rotation and you end up with a box that’s 3/4″ deep.  (It’s a terrific way to package notecard sets!)

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

My papers are from DCWV Faded Floral paper stack.  The colors and patterns are gorgeous and I’m excited to dip back into my favorite color palette, the autumn-inspired navy blue, coral pink, ochre/burnt orange, and gray.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I tied some ribbon around each box, attached my stamped tags, as well as a coordinating patterned paper tag, and then embellished with yarn pom-poms.  Pom-poms on gift wrap is still a favorite of mine, and I made these with the Pom-Pom maker set.

How to Make a Planner Spread with the Foil Quill

Hello everybody ! Soraya here today to share a new tutorial using the amazing Foil Quill tools ! You will be able to create your own spread designs (tabs, titles, boxes and more!) to decorate your journal or planner. Let’s get started !

How to make a planner spread with the Foil Quill by Soraya Maes for We R Memory KeepersStep 1 : Prepare your cardstock

As I wanted to go on a very new spread, I decided to use one of the Foil Quill neutrals smooth papers. I cut 2 parts of 13x22cm then placed them on my Silhouette cutting mat.

How to make a planner spread with the Foil Quill by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers

Step 2 : Place the foil

I used the new Foil Cutting Kit in order to trim the golden foil. This magnetic mat and this circular cutter are truly making a difference by making it easier! The washi tape is now placed all around the foil.

Step 3 : Create the designs

To create the look of my journal spread, I used some designs in the USB drive of Kelly Creates and Paige Taylor Evans. Those drives are simply awesome : so many designs and words to play with!

How to make a planner spread with the Foil Quill by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers

So first of all, on my Silhouette Studio, I reproduced the pages so I could easily see where the designs have to be placed. Then I added some tabs and boxes using the drawing options. I placed the title on top and added some flower designs in each box. Before sending it to the cutting machine, I deleted the lines I created for the pages at first.
