School Sports Layout

Hello and welcome, Chantalle with you today!

My DS is such a keen little athlete. For a couple of years he chased a blue ribbon in the sprints but it was just out of his reach. I remember vividly, the pride my husband and I felt when he finally made his dream a reality and won first place. His little face just beamed! He’d worked so hard for it and it meant so much to him.

He has gone on to defend his title as overall fastest in the school for three years in a row – Bringing home more blue ribbons than he could ever imagine! It’s such a joy to see him achieve his dreams, and as his primary school years draw to a close, we look forward to seeing him reach further (and faster) for new stars in high school.

On this layout, I have used a few of his actual ribbons as embellishments. I was inspired by the blue tones, which are a perfect match to his school sports colours. I went with various shades of blue, keeping the palette minimal, as there are quite a few different elements together on this page.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The background pattern has been created using some royal blue foil and my Heatwave Tool.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

I selected several sheets of blue foil from the pack of Heatwave mixed colours. I think in total for a length of 12 inches down, I used 4 sheets of foil, underneath a Heatwave ‘Sans Serif’ stencil. TIP: For best results in the Heatwave pen, I would recommend new (or fully recharged) batteries.

Once I had completed my foiling, I added a little splash of some Navy Heidi Swapp Color Shine here and there.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The ribbons have been pinned directly onto the cardstock or photos – no need for double sided tape!

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The title is very simple, just emphasizing the win!

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

I created the number 1 with my Alphabet Punch Board and the letters ‘S’ and T’ with my Mini Alphabet Punch Board. It’s great fun combining letters and numbers from both size boards to add a bit of playfulness to your projects. I’ve chosen to use a gold foil finish for the title, to match the printing on the ribbons.

Further little embellishments are these cute cameras, hand cut from a sheet of Amy Tangerine On a Whim 12×12 Super Shot. I used my Crop a Dile to pop a quick hole into them and then set a silver eyelet into the hole.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The eyelet gives the impression that there is a lens on the camera, which I think is pretty cute.

A few other elements used on this page are some clear stickers with gold foil detail from a pack of Amy Tangerine On a Whim Sticker Book, some Heidi Swapp Chipboard stars as well as some Heidi Swapp acrylic stars (both of which I have been hoarding in my stash for a few years!)

I also used my Typecast Typewriter to add a date to the page. I love how quick and easy it is to use my typewriter to add personalized phrases, dates or journaling to my projects, which I have attached to the back of the layout.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

I love how this layout captures not only a wonderful milestone but also shows off some of hard earned ribbons! Much better than put away in a cupboard somewhere.

I hope this idea inspires you to use some of the school items you might have tucked away on your next project.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today!

Travel Scrapbook Page with the Mini Alphabet Punch Board

Hey We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, Becki here, to share a fun travel layout that I created using the Mini Alphabet Punch Board and my Stitch Happy sewing machine. I LOVE both of those tools! I keep both of them right by my desk because I use them so often!.

This layout is documenting the first time I flew by myself. Previously when I traveled I always traveled with friends and family. When I started traveling to teach scrapbooking classes, I flew alone. At first I was nervous but it turned out to be such a great experience. And by having the courage to take that first trip, I’ve had so many more opportunities come my way. In this case, having a little courage to do something I’d never done before, had a huge payoff.

Travel Layout featuring the Mini Alphabet Punch Board by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

To create this layout I started with a white cardstock background. I knew that I wanted a big title and a row of 3×4 photos. I decided to add the title below the photos but with this design, I think the title could go above or below the photos. Of course, I used the alphabet punch board to create the letters for my title. Each letter is cut from a different piece of patterned paper from the Little By Little collection by Shimelle for American Crafts. I added a few black stickers to the layout so to tie the title into the rest of the layout I outlined each letter with a black pen.

At the top and the bottom of the layout, I added patterned paper strips. One of my favorite ways to attach patterned paper strips to my projects is to sew them in place. The Stitch Happy sewing machine is perfect for this technique. My favorite thing about the stitch happy sewing machine is that you can stitch through several layers of paper with thick thread. This adds so much texture and interest to the layout.

The journaling on this layout is typed with the Typecast Typewriter. I love the look of typed journaling. My handwriting is big and loopy. I like to type my journaling so I can get more journaling into a smaller space.

Eva’s Favorite Colors: Teal, Pink, and Gold Scrapbook Page

Hello everyone! Eva Pizarro here today on the blog showing you how to use your Stitch Happy machine and different color threads to create an awesome stitched background for your next layout.

Stitched Background Layout by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

This week’s theme is “Favorite Colors” and one of my all time favorite color combinations is Teal, Pink and Gold; you can find all these colors in the lovely Stitch Happy Threads so I decided to create a stitched background for my layout.

I used a big 12 inch high photo of my son and used my Supreme Ruler to mark the width of the picture on my white cardstock and mark the design shapes on the right side of my page.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

The thread is thick so you can really notice the colors in the background, plus it gives the layout a nice texture.

Stitch Happy by We R Memory Keepers

I didn’t wanted to over embellish my page so I added a few stickers and a strip of paper from Pebbles’ new line: Girl Squad.

Stitched Background Layout by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

The gold Stitch Happy thread was the perfect accent for those little gold embellishments. You can’t really see it in the pictures but it shines beautifully!

Stitched Background Layout by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

Tip:When using your Stitch Happy make sure you change direction when the needle is going up, otherwise you might end up with some loose stitches like it happened to me.

Stitched Background Layout by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

The Stitch Happy gives you lots of possibilities of thread colors and decorative stitches and for me being able to use thick thread is a huge change.

I encourage you to try this technique and if you do please share! We would love to see it!

Have a great week!

Scrapbook Page with the Supreme Ruler

Hello, Laura here today with a scrapbook layout you are sure to love. If you don’t know me, you might not know that I am a perfectionist. Anytime I scrapbook, I like everything to be symmetrical, evenly spaced, and straight. Sometimes it can be really hard to position everything just right. That is where the new Supreme Ruler comes in!

Scrapbook Page with the Supreme Ruler by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I started with a teal colored background paper that had a little texture. Then I cut out little one inch squares from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams 6 x 6 paper pad using the Supreme Ruler and a craft knife.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

I used the guides on the Supreme Ruler to space all the little squares evenly apart. Having the ruler made it so much easier than having to eyeball everything.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

Then, I cut a coordinating strip of floral paper from the 12 x 12 paper pack to go along the bottom edge. I was able to place it perfectly with the Supreme Ruler.

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

I had a couple of little embellishment pieces that were part of the small paper pad – a small June calendar, and a little tag with a saying on it. These can be so tricky to cut just right with a regular paper trimmer. Having a clear ruler with a sharp edge made these so easy to trim straight.

I added some gold Thickers to my layout at the top and bottom to spell out “dancer” and “2017”. This was another great use of the ruler. I could get everything evenly spaced and straight on my layout. These Thickers were perfect for my layout as they have a pink edge you can see from the side.

I added a butterfly, my calendar, and the little tag along the side of my picture to balance out the layout.

This style of layout works great to use up small scraps of your favorite papers you have left over from other projects. Using papers from the same collection make it easy to coordinate the layout without a lot of fuss.

I am so proud of my little dancer. And I am proud to show off her recital picture in this pretty floral layout made easy with the Supreme Ruler.

Stitch Happy Scrapbook Page

Hello, We R friends! Tessa Buys here. I’ve been a paper crafter for a very long time, but any stitching you may have seen on my projects was done by my mom with her machine. I have no idea how to sew; at least, that was the case before I got the Stitch Happy and spent time watching the YouTube instructional videos. I may still be a beginner, but this machine made my latest layout extra special:

Stitch Happy Scrapbook Page by Tessa Buys for We R Memory Keepers

How adorable are these scallop-stitched journaling lines? It’s a simple technique, but great for this novice sewer. In no time at all I added texture and whimsy to my layout while giving the journaling that special “something”.

Stitch Happy Scrapbook Page by Tessa Buys for We R Memory Keepers

The machine was oh-so-easy to thread with this lovely Sew Happy pink thread. I love the thickness of the thread, which helped to make my scallops stand out from the background patterned paper.

Stitch Happy Scrapbook Page by Tessa Buys for We R Memory Keepers

I will share a lesson that I learned since I can’t possibly be the only beginner out there, right? I wanted the scallops to face the way that you see here, but I assembled the rest of my page before sewing. That means that the top of my layout, with all those layers, needed to flex under the arm of the machine in order for my stitching to go where I wanted it. Had my layers been more stiff, it could have been a problem, but I lucked out. Next time, if I’m being picky about the orientation of the scallops, I’ll stitch first and assemble later.

I’m feeling pretty good about my first attempt at machine stitching on a layout, and it’s all thanks to the Stitch Happy! As beginner friendly as this machine is, I don’t think I’ll get bored of using it as my skills increase. I can’t wait to learn more!

Father’s Day Scrapbook Layout

Hello We R Memory Keepers fans! Soraya here with you today to share a masculine and shiny layout to celebrate all the best dads in the world!

Father's Day Scrapbook Layout by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers
To make this layout, I used different techniques such as screen print, gold foil, watercolor, mixed media lettering and a cool frame design made with the awesome Frame Punch Board that I love!

First of all I cut all the papers with the Supreme Ruler and its metal edge for accurate cutting. This tool is fantastic and so easy to work with!

Supreme Ruler by We R Memory Keepers

On a white cardstock I applied some blue navy Art Screen Ink  and with a scraper I put it all over this beautiful floral Art Screen by Heidi  Swapp. Look at this fine and perfect pattern! Then I used the Minc Machine to add some gold foil. The result is absolutely amazing!

For the design of my layout, I played with the Frame Punch Board and made several different sizes and styles of frame to showcase the photo and the gold floral screen as well!  Some mint watercolor came to give more dimension and softness to the screen!

Let’s have fun with some mixed media now! The Mini Alphabet Punch Board helped me creating the title, and for this I used the App on my phone. This is so cool! It’s like I’ll be able to take my tool away with me everywhere now, haha! Once done, I put some gesso on them and dried them with a heat gun.

Let’s go back to gold now with this fun technique using double sided tape and foil flakes! How cool is that? This is perfect to give extra accents to the frames!

Summer Scrapbook Page with the Frame Punch Board

Hello everyone! Welcome to the We R blog! It’s Eva Pizarro here today sharing a quick idea on how to use your Frame Punch Board for your next summer scrapbook project.

Summer Scrapbook Page with the Frame Punch Board by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

For this assignment I knew right away I wanted to fill my page with frames, kind of a grid design but made with different squares. I choose two different types of frames: one square 2 3/8 inch x 2 3/8 inch and one polaroid style 2 3/8 inch x 2 7/8 inch and used papers from the lovely Oh Happy Life collection by our sister brand, American Crafts.

Summer Scrapbook Page with the Frame Punch Board by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I embellished the frames with pictures, phrases, die cuts and stickers. If the die cut was too big I cut the edges so the design stayed inside the frame.

Summer Scrapbook Page with the Frame Punch Board by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I also made 3 journaling frames with some white cardstock and my Typecast Typewriter.

Typecast Typewriter by We R Memory Keepers

To align all the frames perfectly I used my Laser Square, it was very easy to use and made the grid design alignment so much easier!

Laser Square by We R Memory Keepers

To finish my layout I added a title and some stickers from the Flower Girl Collection by We R Memory Keepers. I also used some 3d dots on some embellishments to give a little more dimension to my layout.

Summer Scrapbook Page with the Frame Punch Board by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

I really like how each frame is unique but, using the same window size and the same paper collection, you can achieve a cohesive layout.

Because you work each frame at a time this layout design is very quick and easy! This technique is perfect for cards or mini albums too! I hope you give it a try!

Make Rosettes with the Fringe and Score Board

Hey there WRMK friends and fans, Becki here to share with you a layout I created with the Fringe and Score Board. I created some fun flower rosettes along with a really fun woven background with the Fringe and Score board. The Fringe and Score Board made creating these details on my layout SO easy!
Fringe and Score Board Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers
I started by cutting the background of my layout with the fringe and score board. I used the blade portion of the fringe and score board with the blades set at 1/2 of an inch to cut the slits for the weaving on my background. Then I cut 1/2″ strips of coordinating patterned paper to weave into the background. I stitched the strips into place so they didn’t slide in and out of place. I remember doing this paper weaving technique in grade school. It’s so easy and so fun!
Fringe and Score Board Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keeper
Fringe and Score Board Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keeper
Then, I created the rosettes. I used the scoring blades to score the strips for the rosettes. I did shift the paper strips so that the score marks were at every 1/4″ instead of 1/2″ because I wanted the flower rosettes to be a little less bulky on my layout. In the center of each rosette is a bit of embellishment.
Fringe and Score Board Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keeper

I added a pop of color to the right side of my photo and even punched a lace border using the doily border punch. I love how this little detail balanced out the loads of color on the left side of my photo. I love how this layout turned out and can’t wait to use this technique over and over again. Thank you for stopping by the We R Memory Keepers blog. I’ll see you again soon!

National Scrapbook Day Roundup

Happy Friday, and Happy (Inter)National Scrapbook Day tomorrow! We’ve been celebrating all week with plenty of scrapbooking inspiration, and today we’re going to cap things off with a roundup of some fabulous memory-keeping projects we’ve found on the internet. We love to see what you’re creating with our projects, and we hope you enjoy the inspiration!

Use your Envelope Punch Board (or 123 Punch Board) to make pockets for your scrapbook page. You can use your pockets to include extra photos, memorabilia, or journaling. CLICK HERE for more details and a process video by Zinia Armoiridou for Hip Kit Club.

Make a statement on your scrapbook page with a large bow embellishment! Use the One Piece Bow Die and the Evolution Advanced to create your bow from your favorite patterned paper. For more photos and details about Kim Jeffress’ beautiful layout, visit the Heidi Swapp blog HERE.

Mini albums are a great way to preserve photos and memories, and we love how designer Renee Zwirek used our Glassine Papers and Frame Punch Board as part of her Cinch book. For full instructions, visit the Pebbles Inc blog HERE.

Our Font Punches are perfect for adding decorative details to letters punched with the Alphabet Punch Board, but they’re also great for adding punched embellishments to your scrapbook pages. We just love how Chantalle McDaniel added some tiny flowers to her page with the Marquee Punch.

Include beautiful hand stitched accents to your scrapbook layout with our Sew Easy Floss. CLICK HERE for more about this gorgeous inspiration piece by user Puddin Head on Scrapbook.com.

Memories don’t have to be documented in an album. Designer Kim Jeffress recorded her family adventures in a Heidi Swapp Memory Dex, and easily added her journaling directly to the cards with the Typecast typewriter. CLICK HERE for more photos and details.

Thanks for stopping by today. We hope you’ve enjoyed this scrapbooking roundup, and that you have a wonderfully crafty (Inter)National Scrapbook Day tomorrow. Crafty cheers!

Tab Punch Board Scrapbook Page

Hello there We R fans, Laura here today with a fun scrapbook layout you can easily make with the new Tab Punch Board. Earlier this month, my family and I took a trip to Lake Pleasant, AZ. It was a spur of the moment camping trip. We were itching to get out after the long winter, so going to the lake was the perfect, fun escape for the weekend.

Tab Punch Board Scrapbook Page by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

To start with I found a fun background paper from the Amy Tangerine On a Whim collection. All of the papers, embellishments, and stickers from this line are all so bright and cheerful. The paper I chose started green at the bottom and went to blue at the top. It reminded me of grass and sky.

Tab Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers

I added a large white square to the background using textured cardstock. Next, I cut out 3-inch by 4-inch rectangles from different papers in the On a Whim collection. Then, using the Tab Punch board, I added a large size tab to one edge of the paper.

I used the punch board to round all the remaining corners.

Tab Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers

Once I had all of the pieces tabbed, I added them to my scrapbook page using my tape runner.

Tab Punch Board Scrapbook Page by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I printed out small sized photos using my home printer. This way I was able to size them just right and add a white border around each one. I added different die-cut ephemera to embellish my page. The cactus was perfect since we were camping in the desert.

Tab Punch Board Scrapbook Layout by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I used one of the heart die-cuts to add the information about our trip on the page.

Since our trip was “on a whim” and a last minute decision, I thought adding the matching chipboard sticker was a fun way to show that on my page. Since most of the layout was pretty flat, the chipboard adds a little dimension to the page.

The Tab Punch Board is such a fun way to dress up a plain mat on your scrapbook pages.
