Happy December! This is Rebecca and we’re just a couple of days from Christmas now! It hardly seems possible and I’m sure you’ve got all of your cards sent out, wrapped gifts under the tree, and your holiday meal all planned out. Just in case you’re in need of a pretty place holder for the guests you’re hosting, I have a quick idea to share, featuring the easy to use Freestyle Foil Quill Pens.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve been buying up and hoarding these leafy garlands from the craft stores. They come in handy for every kind of Christmas project you can think of! They’re wired and cut apart easily (I like to use the wire cutters that come with the Happy Jig, though, to save my scissors). I created some quick wreaths out of the garlands, but if you don’t have or can’t find them, any wreath–even a paper one or real greenery–will work just fine for this project.
Personalizing your holders is so simple with the Freestyle Foil Quill Pens. I used mine to write the names of my family members on a die cut label. I chose the silver foil and held it in place over the label with magnet pieces, writing the names with the fine tip pen–that’s the pink one. I find that when I’m writing, especially in cursive, I can be more precise with the finer tip. If you have calligraphic experience, though, there is a pen for that, as well–it’s dark pink and has a special tip.
I added a few little stars to decorate each name tag. The silver foil contrasts so nice against the dark burgundy cardstock I used. Set against the deep green of the wreath, it’s so Christmassy!
The labels are attached with glue dots, which makes them easy to remove from the wreath so that my guests have something they can take home and use later, either as a holiday decoration, tree ornament or a gift topper. When I make items like these, it’s always nice if they can be repurposed. At the very least, I can reuse them next year!
I thought it might be nice to add a few little silver berries dotted around each wreath to dress them up, so I cut up some faux berries I had and hot glued them within the leaves.
The final touch for my place card wreaths was the bow at the top, which I made with the Bow Loom and some glitter ribbon. It’s a double bow that was super-easy to make with the loom and adds such a festive touch!
Thanks for hanging out with me today during this busiest of season. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
