Personalized ABC Book

Hello everyone and welcome to the We R blog! It’s Eva Pizarro here today sharing a tutorial on how to make a Personalized ABC Book using the Word Punch Board and the waterfall sleeves.

My little toddler started school this year and he has been learning letters and how to write his own name so I thought it would be fun to create an ABC book with some photos of some of his favorite things!

I started by using my Trim and Score Board to cut 4×6 letters and 28 3,5 inch square pictures, one for each letter.

Next, I used my Word punch Board to create all the words for the mini book. Because I wanted the letter to be closer together I punched the odd letters first placing the punches on the 1,13,25 and 37 marks. Then I changed to the even letters and placed my punches on the 7, 19, 31 and 43 marks.

On each page I included the letter, a picture and a punched word.

I placed each page on the 4×6 inch Waterfall Sleeves, they are plastic so my son can practice the letters on top and then clean everything with a tissue. He couldn’t wait to try the book!

I made some cardboard covers and bound everything with my Cinch.

To decorate the mini book I used my Tassel Loom to create coordinating tassels. They were very easy to make! The Tassel Loom makes 3 different tassel sizes and it is foldable so you can easily store it and take it to crops.

Once you remove your tassel you will need to trim it. Simply wrap your tassel on paper and cut the border!

Aren’t those tassels cute? They are perfect to decorate mini books!

The cover is super simple because I know my son is going to use this book all the time! A few thickers and that’s it! The lovely cover paper is from My Bright Life collection by Pebbles Inc.

My son is really excited about his book and I love that he can practice letters in a fun and cute way! Have you ever made an ABC book? I think it is the perfect gift for a small children!

Have a great week!

Graduation Guest Book

Hello WeR fans! It’s Chantalle with you and thank you for stopping by the blog today to check out this little graduation memento/guest book.

Graduation Party Guest Book by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

I will admit to creating this book after the fact, as a celebration of my daughter having successfully graduated from year 2 to 3, which in Australia moves you up in the world from ‘Junior’ to ‘Middle’ status in primary school. I will also admit that I am rubbish at filing things properly when I first get them. I kinda collect similar items and then have a big filing session (which then becomes a big task lol) so I was really happy to gather things that I had saved over the course of the year and then compile into this mini book. She still sees all of these kids every day so I can grab them to add a few more signatures to the hall of fame area at the back haha!

The book consists of some covered heavy weight kraft card for the covers and some patterned paper inside, bound together using my Cinch Binding Tool.

The covers are measured at 6×6 inches and the inside pages are 5 ¾ inches squared.

I trimmed my kraft card using my Supreme Ruler and a knife. I ran the paper which is a lighter weight through my Trim & Score Board so all the pages would be the same.

I applied some bright Amy Tangerine Washi Tape to the edges of my kraft card and folded it over to give a neat finish, before I glued the cover papers on. This beautiful woodgrain print is from the new 12×12 Hawthorne Paper Pad by Heidi Swapp.

Some of the pages have some machine stitching for detail and others have been stitched to create pockets.

I wanted the first spread to feature my DD and thought her school portrait would be great. I used my Circle Clear Cut Punch to pop a 2 inch circle in the centre of the paper and then embellished around the image.

The chipboard alphas for the date are from a pack of AC ‘Sunshine’ Chipboard Stickers and the words are from American Crafts Girl Power Chipboard Alphas. The ‘dream big’ is a super convenient die cut shapes from my DCWV Die Cut Shapes paper pad. I used this pad in my last post and it’s awesome!!

The next couple of pages feature an award and coloring competition she entered.

This spotty page is the first of the pocket pages. I just machine stitched around 3 of the sides, leaving the last one open and then used a 1 inch circle punch to pop a half circle shape on that edge, so the viewer knows that the page contains something.

Overleaf we have an adorable observation with a little ‘peek-a-boo’ cutout in the paper announcing the title of her worksheet.

Her interest definitely lies in story telling. She has always gone in to lots of detail when explaining something or telling us about her day. This argument to keep the news on television is too hilarious not to keep!

The back section of the book focuses on some of the friendships she has made. I’ve included polaroid snaps of the children involved so she can look back on them and remember. TIP:  If this was at a graduation party, one could leave a couple of Instax cameras on the table for guests to add their own pics along with their messages.

Her class was encouraged to share some compliments with each other and the ones she received melted my heart!

The book includes a friends list where she can add in her BFF’s

Throughout this book, I’ve used the most gorgeous colourful rub-ons from Paige  Evans’ ‘Pick Me Up’ collection.

There is also a pocket for her report cards.

Don’t forget to keep your Typecast dust-free with the handy clear covers, which are now available!

Grab those signatures while you can sweetheart!

Binding using the Cinch is so easy and convenient. I have used the smaller size      0.625inch binding combs as there weren’t that many pages in my book.

I punched all of my pages and the covers and then popped the comb onto the side of the binding tool. First, I put my inside pages onto the comb, followed by the top cover, face up then finally, the bottom cover, face down. This technique gives a cleaner binding finish.

To secure my book, I have included a ribbon closure. Two sections of ribbon have been glued under the cover papers. In my case, I changed my mind from an eyelet system so I was able to lift my papers, which were adhered with double sided tape, so it wasn’t that difficult. If you prefer to use liquid adhesive, then you would have to add your ribbon before you glued down your cover paper to your book/chip board.

I used my USB Glue Gun to add the ribbon as I wanted a good strong instant bond.

This idea could be implemented at any number of occasions – a wedding, baby shower, special birthday or anniversary.

Baby Animals Board Book

Hi Everyone! Amanda here today. Although my kids, ages 9 and 11, are not into baby board books anymore, a fun way to capture memories is by creating a baby board book. The fun pictures and bright colors will make story time fun and easy.

Baby Animals Board Book by Amanda Coleman
If you don’t have photos of animals, you can make a baby board book with pictures of family members, or even a trip to the zoo. The possibilities are endless! Think letters and bright colors, too. And since each page is made using a 6”x6” Cinch book board, the baby book is nice and sturdy in little hands.

Baby Animals Board Book 2

This book is filled with photos of baby animals we have had at our little farm over the past few years, and although I am not having to teach them animal names and sounds, my kids still enjoy flipping through these little books.

Here are some more cute pictures of other baby farm animals:

Creating a title using dimensional Thickers is not only an easy way to create a title for your book but will also add some bumps and ridges for baby’s hands to run over.

Baby Animals Board Book 5

You can also use Thickers to create the words for your book. While they look great on the cover, the thickness of the Thickers may add unwanted bulk to your book. I came up with a little trick for getting all of the convenience of Thickers, but without all of the bulk.

Baby Animals Board Book 9

You know that moment when you peel a chipboard Thicker from the sheet and the top of the Thicker comes off but the sticky part remains? Well, it’s time to put that skill to good use. Using a pair of tweezers, gently separate the top few layers of the Thicker from the bottom portion and voila! You have a nice, thin alpha to use in your book. Simply adhere with some liquid glue and you’re good to go.

The types of board books you could make with the Cinch are endless. Have fun!

Thanks for stopping by today!

2016 Scrapbook Calendar

Hello!  Jennie here with a year ending calendar that is just perfect for keeping for yourself or for gift giving.

2016 Cinch Scrapbook Calendar by Jennie McGarvey for We R Memory Keepers

I went into this thinking how the Wildflower collection would be perfect to work with.  It’s versatile, beautiful and not at all themed.  Perfect for the variety of photos I needed to use.  So, along with my Cinch, I was set!

jenniemcgarveycinch2

I had purchased an $1.00 calendar and cut it apart, only keeping the actual month view so I could adhere it to the calendar.

jenniemcgarveycinch3

Now, the fun.  I printed 12 photos, one for each month.  Then, I proceeded to make, for all intents and purposes, a scrapbook layout for each photo!  On the backside, I adhered the previous month.  That way when I bound the pages together, it would serve as a wall calendar!

jenniemcgarveycinch4

All I had to do was punch the holes, choose the binding and put it all together.  It really was that easy!
