Dry Embossing on a Scrapbook Layout

Hello, We R readers, Laura here with a simple scrapbook layout for you today. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I save all my paper scraps. I have gotten better about not saving the teeny tiny pieces, but anything over two inches is fair game. I love to be able to use up those scraps on projects. Plain cardstock scraps are not always the first thing to come to mind for a scrapbook layout, but after today, maybe they will be!

I started by cutting three inch squares from solid colored textured cardstock using my paper trimmer. I cut one of each – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Using rainbow colors instantly pulls together any layout.

After I cut out each of the squares, I ran them through the Evolution Advanced using a different Next Level embossing folder for each one. Embossing is such an easy way to “dress up” solid cardstock on a layout.

I used smaller scraps to cut out little flower shapes using one of the small dies that came with the Evolution Advanced. Using the magnetic mat ensures that your pieces won’t slide around while you are cutting them out.

I hadn’t had a chance to try out the new Laser Square yet, and this was the perfect project for it. I wanted to make a grid with the squares on one side of the paper. The laser lines helped me to line everything up perfectly.

I added one of my favorite pictures of my husband and me at the lake from over the summer. I used a black and white picture since the layout was already so colorful. The background paper is a pearl white cardstock. The pearl sheen helps to brighten up the layout.

I used the little die cuts above and below my photo. I added a little gem to each one to make them look more like little flowers.

Lastly, I added a “you make me smile” sticker and some gold Thickers to spell out “Oh! Happy Day”.

Using the supplies you have on hand, but figuring out a way to fancy them up a bit, is a win win in my book. And I adore anything with a rainbow pattern. This page will be a great, bright, happy memory of the fun we had over the summer.

Evolution Advanced Card Set

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with two cards today showcasing the fantastic Evolution Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. The Evolution is a powerful die cutting machine that can tackle many mediums, but it also easily embosses with the turn of a crank. It is easy to use, which makes your creativity flow faster!

To start my cards, I chose two products that I wanted to use, the Gems Dies and the Geometric Embossing Folder. I knew they would add amazing detail and texture to my cards.

I began by embossing Rose Quartz cardstock. The pink paper was placed inside the Geometric Embossing Folder. Then it was placed on the Platform Plate and topped with the Genius Mat.

On the side of the Evolution is a knob that adjusts the rollers inside the machine. Following the illustrations around the knob, I turned to the embossing portion. A simple crank of the handle and the embossing was done.

The depth of this Next Level Embossing Folder is so fantastic!

I love the texture it adds to the card.

It is remarkable what a hint of depth does to make a card go from ok, to wow!

Pink Paislee’s Moonstruck collection bits and pieces were added to the card.

With the faceted look of the embossing folder, adding the Gem Dies images was perfect! Using metallic gold paper, I die cut each of the images.

With the Evolution, going from embossing to die cutting is a breeze. I placed my die on the Platform Plate, cutting edge up. Topped it with gold paper, face down. Covered that with the Genius platform. All that needed to be changed for die cutting was the settings on the side of the machine. I quickly turned the knob to die cutting and passed it all through the machine with a crank of the handle.

The details are perfect and the metallic gold paper adds so much shine! All the papers and pieces from the Moonstruck collection finished off these dreamy and romantic cards beautifully!

Embossing To The Next Level

30 days of evolution

Hello WR fans! Carrie here today to continue our month long celebration of the Evolution Advanced. This week we are showing you how to emboss your projects and take them to the Next Level. I hope you are getting some fun and inspiring ideas that you can share with us when you finish creating.

Today I am going to show you some embossing ideas for a layout.  I went with a bit of a busy patterned paper from the Wildflower line so I decided to add a little bit of texture without adding too many prints.

I chose colored cardstock to match with some of the colors in my print, I cut them to the size I wanted and used the Next Level Woven embossing folders. Each pack comes with 2 embossing folders so I chose to use both for my layout. Once I had my papers cut, and folders chosen I placed them through the Evolution Advanced, cranked the handle and had beautiful embossed cardstock.

I assembled my layout but as I looked at it, I felt it still needed something. As I stared at my stickers and embellishments it hit me, why not emboss my chipboard title? I did this the same way I embossed my cardstock, the only difference was that I had to adjust the settings on my Evolution Advanced. In case you didn’t know, this is a feature on the Advanced that I love. There is no more trying to figure out which plates to mix and match when using different types of medium. All you have to do is change your settings and you are good to go!

Embossing my chipboard title was just the thing my layout needed. The embossing folder and the Evolution Advanced really took that plain title and took it to the Next Level! Here are some close ups just so you can see the degree of embossing you will achieveusing the Next Level Embossing Folders with your Evolution Advanced…

Embossed Birthday Card + A Giveaway!

30 days of evolution

Dry embossing with the Evolution Advanced really takes paper craft projects to the next level! And speaking of next level…have you see our new Next Level 3D Embossing Folders? They produce some seriously amazing dimension without tearing your paper. Check out design team member Kathy’s embossed birthday card.

It’s no surprise that birthday cards are the most common greeting people send. I know I make and mail lots of them so when I get my hands on a festive birthday collection like Cakes & Candles from We R Memory Keepers, I know I’ll be using every little piece!

150530-Party-Time

In addition to these colorful papers with celebratory party icons, I used a couple of my favorite We R tools to create this birthday card and envelope ensemble.

See the beautifully embossed numbered background? That was created with the Evolution Advanced and the Next Level ABC-123 embossing folder set.

150530-Party-Time-Score

One of my favorite features on the Evolution Advanced is the dial thickness setting so you don’t have to use multiple platforms and remember which order to stack them in.

150530-Party-Time-Emboss

If you are familiar with my style, you know I can’t create a card without lots of layers and accents so I absolutely adore the ability to make box-style envelopes!

Finally, for a little extra envelope doo-dad, I cut out one of the Party Time patterned paper squares to use as an envelope seal.
