Mother’s Day Card with the Mini Alphabet Punch Board

Happy Monday friends, and welcome to Mother’s Day Week here on the blog! This week our design team has cooked up some fabulous project inspiration to show the mother, grandmother, or mother figure in your life just how special they are. Kimberly gets us started with a beautiful card she made with the Mini Alphabet Punch Board!

—–

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here today with a special card for Mother’s Day. There is no doubt how special the word “mom” truly is. The word evokes the love we feel for our moms, or mom figures. And for those of us fortunate enough, we know how the name “mom” sounds when coming from our children. (Except maybe after they scream it ten thousand times in row. Wink, wink.)

To keep the focus on mom and the love we have for our moms, I used the We R Memory Keepers Mini Alphabet Punch Board to create the letters “M-O-M.”

So often when I use this punch board, I use solid color paper. This time, I wanted to use the adorable, small heart patterned paper from Dear Lizzy’s Lovely Day.

Turns out, the way you put the paper in matters! Be sure to note when you punch your letters, which way you need the pattern to appear. After making the first “m” incorrectly, I saw that I needed to turn the paper sideways.

To embellish the letters, I used a Font Punch. These clever punches create shapes to add to your letters.

I punched several leaves from green cardstock using the Font Punch Serif Punch-Elegant. It creates three different shapes with one punch. I chose to only use the leaves, as it worked into my flowery theme.

On a couple of the leaves, I added Lovely Day Puffy Stickers with flowers. I also added the word love to my card. This embellishment from the Lovely Day Ephemera pack has rose gold foil on it, adding a special touch

This card is larger than normal, as it is an A9 card. I see my mom on Mother’s Day, or send her a package, so slipping this large card into her gift is easy.

Have you started a card for your mom or mom figure yet?

DIY Easter Decor

Hello We R Fans and welcome back to the blog today. It felt like only yesterday I was sharing some ideas for Easter decor with you! How time flies. This wonderful and blessed time of year is almost here and again, I would love to share a little section of my craft room with you which I have decorated especially for Easter.

DIY Easter Decor by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

I have two pretty simple little shelves in my room where I like to display lots of pretties, but also keep the bits and pieces I use a lot so they are close to hand. The top of the units are a perfect place to keep favourite projects or nicknacks.

I will freely admit to having a small crush on all things ‘bunny’. My collection is growing and this year I have added this adorable mini cake stand! A simple and easy way to decorate without the long term commitment is to add some hand cut bits, like a butterfly or two, with some temporary adhesive like ‘Blu Tack’. (This is an Australian product name but after searching on the net, the equivalent sounds like ‘Plasti-Tac’ or Poster Tac.)

The main feature of my Easter display is a 12×12 image which I have created and displayed inside an Organization Gallery Shadow Box Frame. My ideas on how exactly it would look changed a bit during the creative process, but I wanted to create a main title with some custom lettering and I also knew I wanted to have several elements making up the whole display.

For my title, I started off by trimming the pieces of paper I would need for my word ‘EASTER”. I used my Mini Alphabet Punch Board (which takes 1.5 inch x 2.5 inch pieces) to punch out my letters. These soft florals are from the new Pebbles line, ’Simple Life’.

Once all the letters were complete, I then made swift work of lining them all up in a straight line, with my Laser Square.

For added interest over the pretty woodgrain print of the paper, I did some basic black stamping with this floral stamp from the new Vicki Boutin collection. This stamp set also comes with coordinating metal dies, so I cut some of the shapes out of similar paper and then used the shapes to build up layers of stickers and ephemera I started assembling.

Here is a closer look at some of the details. You might notice a touch of vellum at the bottom of the little stack. This paper is SO pretty and the touches of gold were perfect for the overall look and feel of this display piece. Other tiny details are the mini flowers I created using an Elegant Font Punch . I added a little centre to the flower shape with some white Crystal Drops.

And here is how the framed piece turned out!

I’ve echoed those beautiful butterflies here and there. They have been hand-cut from a sheet of Wildflower ‘Butterfly Garden’.

The last item incorporated into my display is this super cute 5×7 Photo Light. The acrylic frame is backlit and this one has a natural wood finish so it coordinated well with the white shelving and woodgrain papers in the frame.

For my photo light, I set up a document the same size in Photoshop. I then used some digital Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss elements and added some text. (note, I changed the colour of the little ‘oh so cute’ ephemera to better match the background pattern.)

I then printed my digital pic onto some Photo Light Printable Backlit Film Paper. NOTE: It’s important to print onto the more matte side as the ink will not stick to the glossier side. (Hold the paper up the light and give it a little feel to see which side feels more glossy.) It’s also worth printing a reversed copy of your image, so it is a bit more protected when it’s under the top magnetic plate.

The printed image sits on top of the light box area but underneath a protective sheet made from sturdy acrylic which has magnets in the corners to keep your image in place.

This is how fabulous it looks when it’s turned on! Note: The frame runs off 3x AA batteries or a Micro USB cable (not included).

Wishing you, your families and friends, a very happy time together. Until next time

Pumpkin Chain Garland

By Shellye McDaniel

Happy Fall!  While planning an upcoming Fall Festival at our school, I came up with a colorful and fun Halloween garland that we can hang from the ceiling in the foyer.  For the project I’ve used a few basic tools from We R Memory Keepers: the Mini Alphabet Punch Board, the Elegant Serif Font Punch and the Elegant Decorative Font Punch.

shellye-mcdaniel-pumpkin-chain-banner1

To get started, I trimmed the “5th Avenue” Patterned Paper from the Urban Chic Collection down to 1.5” X 2.5” rectangles, which fits the Mini Alphabet Punch.  Following the instructions, I punched the number “8” from each rectangle of paper and set them aside.

shellye-mcdaniel-pumpkin-chain-banner6

From the 3X5 Paper Pad, the orange sheet was cut into four sections to measure 1.5” X 2.5”.

shellye-mcdaniel-pumpkin-chain-banner7

To create the pumpkins, the center of each rectangle was punched at the center on the top and bottom.  Next, all four corners were corner-rounded using the same Mini Alphabet Punch.

shellye-mcdaniel-pumpkin-chain-banner8

For the stem of the pumpkin, I used the curvy line from the Elegant Serif Font Punch and punched it from brown kraft paper found in the 3X5 Paper Pad.  The leaves and ‘vine” were punched from the green 3X5 paper using the Serif Font Punch and the Elegant Decorative Font Punch.

The pumpkins were dressed with the leaves, stem and vine.  Each end of the shapes were punched with a small hole punch and then strung with baker’s twine.

Add faces to the pumpkin if you’d like to change the design up a bit for Halloween!

Wildflower Card Set

Hello again WeR fans! As Summer draws nearer for us in the southern hemisphere, so too do the birthday parties it seems! I’ve restocked my card supply using some pretty bits and pieces and a couple of tools, which you might already have in your stash.

cards_1

The beauty of these cards is that they don’t take forever to put together (although, I do find it quite difficult to narrow down ideas and just make a start with cards sometimes, hehe.)

cards_2

Let’s take a closer look at each of them…

Most of these cards use coloured card from a 12×12 DIY Party cardstock pad. This one has a gorgeous aqua base and over the top I’ve popped a bit of some Indian Summer, which I have been hoarding for a while!

I’ve cut some feather shapes using my Evolution Advanced with a WRMK metal feather die. Other embellishments are some Wildflower cardstock stickers. TIP: Get more from larger sticker shapes by cutting them in half to use on another project.

cards_3

cards_4

This one has some embossed vellum and ribbon detail. I’ve placed the embossing folder a little way down the vellum sheet to create a bit of contrast in the textures. It’s finished off with some hand cut butterflies from a sheet of Wildflower ‘Butterfly Garden’ and a Clearly Posh die cut shape for the title.

cards_5

TIP: I’ve applied my adhesive in tiny dots under the embossed pattern in the vellum so that it’s too visible.

cards_6

This shaker card uses a 4×6 waterfall sleeve and some DIY Party confetti which have been sealed with my Fuse Tool. I’ve popped some lettering on the top for my title which I created using my Mini Alphabet Punch Board.

cards_7

cards_8

Card number four is a breeze to put together: some embossed cardstock, a hand cut bloom and a simple phrase. Create your own if you have a typewriter!

cards_9

I’ve gone over areas with a glitter brush pen for a bit of sparkle.

cards_10

This thank you card has some simple paper layering using Love Notes ‘Valentine’ and Crush ‘Love Defined’. I’ve added some foil detail with my Heatwave tool and a stencil. Tiny floral detail comes in the form of some new font punches.

cards_11

Click here for a quick look at this fun tool in action.

cards_12

Finally, this card makes use of some dry and heat embossing. The title uses a ‘Happy Birthday’ Classic Phrase embossing strip, which has been run through my Evolution Advanced. These little embossing strips are fabulous for cards and come with guides printed on the folder so you know your pattern is going to be perfectly aligned.

cards_13

I then clear heat embossed the wording so it would stand out a bit more. TIP:  I used a Versamark pen to ensure the coverage was accurate.

cards_14

The white Ruler Studio frame I used on the card has been stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I really like the way this turned out. It gives it a vintage twist, which coordinates so well with those beautiful Wildflower illustrations.

cards_15

Really make an impact by pairing your cards with custom Envelope Punch Board envelopes too!

cards_16

Thanks so much for joining me today. Happy card making!

Chantalle

Fall Pumpkin Wreath

Hello! Laura here today with a festive fall pumpkin wreath project. It is still pretty warm where I live in Arizona but the temperatures are starting to cool off at night. I recently pulled out all my fall decorations. One of my favorite things to decorate with is wreaths. They provide a cheery welcome to everyone that comes to your home.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-1

To get started making this wreath you will need the DIY Party Sunrise Honeycomb Pads and DIY Party Honeycomb Stencils. I used the small honeycomb pad, but you could also easily make a larger version of this wreath by using the Large Sunrise Honeycomb Pads.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-2

On each honeycomb pad you will trace the smallest of the pumpkin stencil shapes, for a total of three pumpkin shapes on each pad – orange, yellow and cream. Be sure to trace your shape on the adhered edge. Cut out each of the shapes for a total of nine pumpkins.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-3

Next, you will create your paper wreath form. I used green cardstock and the circle template from the honeycomb stencils. I used the largest circle shape possible to create the wreath form. Cut out around the outer circle and the inner circle to create your wreath.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-4

I wanted some sort of stem or vine shape at the top of the pumpkin. The new Decorative Font Punch was perfect for this. I used the leftover paper from creating the wreath form to punch out nine vines.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-5

Using my sticky thumb adhesive I attached the green vine to the top edge of the wreath form.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-6

Then, I added each pumpkin shape by using adhesive on either side of the pumpkin shape and pressing it down firmly on the green ring. I repeated this process around the entire wreath, alternating the colors of the pumpkins.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-7

I snipped the excess green paper from in between each pumpkin shape. Lastly, I attached a green and white twine loop using a piece of clear tape on the back to create a hanger for my wreath.

fall-pumpkin-wreath-by-laura-silva-8

To dress up the wreath for Halloween, you could add some little cut out shapes to create jack-o-lantern faces on some or all of the pumpkins. For now though, I love this little pumpkin wreath just as it is.
