Memory Planner Scrapbook Page

Happy Friday friends! It’s Aly here with you again, and I’m really excited to share a special Memory Planner spread with you for National Scrapbook Day. Most of my memory keeping these days either happens in my planner, a traveler’s notebook, or a pocket style album. My daughter and I recently took a trip to Boston and New York City, so I recorded some memories on the April spread in my Heidi Swapp monthly planner.

I love scrapbooking on a smaller scale in my planner where I’m recording details about my life anyway. It just makes sense with my busy schedule, and saves me time while still allowing me to capture important memories.

I used the new DCWV Journaling Premium Stack and the Okey Dokey Stack to embellish my planner spread. The Journaling Stack is full of labels, cards, tags, and other goodies you can punch out and use for journaling in or embellishing your planner.

Heatwave Pen by We R Memory Keepers

I used my Heatwave Pen, some gold foil, and a Heatwave Template to add some gold metallic handwriting to the left side of the planner spread. I love the sparkle it adds!

Next I created a DIY accent tag with my Tag Punch Board as a layer in a cluster of embellishments. I love that I can customize the size and shape of my tag with this awesome punch board!

I was able to add plenty of journaling about our trip by typing it onto some cards from the Journaling Stack, and including the cards in an envelope I made with the Mini Envelope Punch Board.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ve gotten some helpful scrapbooking inspiration this week, and that you have an awesome National Scrapbook Day tomorrow as you celebrate this meaningful hobby. Happy scrapping!

School Sports Layout

Hello and welcome, Chantalle with you today!

My DS is such a keen little athlete. For a couple of years he chased a blue ribbon in the sprints but it was just out of his reach. I remember vividly, the pride my husband and I felt when he finally made his dream a reality and won first place. His little face just beamed! He’d worked so hard for it and it meant so much to him.

He has gone on to defend his title as overall fastest in the school for three years in a row – Bringing home more blue ribbons than he could ever imagine! It’s such a joy to see him achieve his dreams, and as his primary school years draw to a close, we look forward to seeing him reach further (and faster) for new stars in high school.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

On this layout, I have used a few of his actual ribbons as embellishments. I was inspired by the blue tones, which are a perfect match to his school sports colours. I went with various shades of blue, keeping the palette minimal, as there are quite a few different elements together on this page.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The background pattern has been created using some royal blue foil and my Heatwave Tool.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

I selected several sheets of blue foil from the pack of Heatwave mixed colours. I think in total for a length of 12 inches down, I used 4 sheets of foil, underneath a Heatwave ‘Sans Serif’ stencil. TIP: For best results in the Heatwave pen, I would recommend new (or fully recharged) batteries.

Once I had completed my foiling, I added a little splash of some Navy Heidi Swapp Color Shine here and there.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The ribbons have been pinned directly onto the cardstock or photos – no need for double sided tape!

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The title is very simple, just emphasizing the win!

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

I created the number 1 with my Alphabet Punch Board and the letters ‘S’ and T’ with my Mini Alphabet Punch Board. It’s great fun combining letters and numbers from both size boards to add a bit of playfulness to your projects. I’ve chosen to use a gold foil finish for the title, to match the printing on the ribbons.

Further little embellishments are these cute cameras, hand cut from a sheet of Amy Tangerine On a Whim 12×12 Super Shot. I used my Crop a Dile to pop a quick hole into them and then set a silver eyelet into the hole.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

The eyelet gives the impression that there is a lens on the camera, which I think is pretty cute.

A few other elements used on this page are some clear stickers with gold foil detail from a pack of Amy Tangerine On a Whim Sticker Book, some Heidi Swapp Chipboard stars as well as some Heidi Swapp acrylic stars (both of which I have been hoarding in my stash for a few years!)

I also used my Typecast Typewriter to add a date to the page. I love how quick and easy it is to use my typewriter to add personalized phrases, dates or journaling to my projects, which I have attached to the back of the layout.

School Sports Layout by Chantalle McDaniels for We R Memory Keepers

I love how this layout captures not only a wonderful milestone but also shows off some of hard earned ribbons! Much better than put away in a cupboard somewhere.

I hope this idea inspires you to use some of the school items you might have tucked away on your next project.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today!

Wildflower Card Set

Hello again WeR fans! As Summer draws nearer for us in the southern hemisphere, so too do the birthday parties it seems! I’ve restocked my card supply using some pretty bits and pieces and a couple of tools, which you might already have in your stash.

The beauty of these cards is that they don’t take forever to put together (although, I do find it quite difficult to narrow down ideas and just make a start with cards sometimes, hehe.)

Let’s take a closer look at each of them…

Most of these cards use coloured card from a 12×12 DIY Party cardstock pad. This one has a gorgeous aqua base and over the top I’ve popped a bit of some Indian Summer, which I have been hoarding for a while!

I’ve cut some feather shapes using my Evolution Advanced with a WRMK metal feather die. Other embellishments are some Wildflower cardstock stickers. TIP: Get more from larger sticker shapes by cutting them in half to use on another project.

This one has some embossed vellum and ribbon detail. I’ve placed the embossing folder a little way down the vellum sheet to create a bit of contrast in the textures. It’s finished off with some hand cut butterflies from a sheet of Wildflower ‘Butterfly Garden’ and a Clearly Posh die cut shape for the title.

TIP: I’ve applied my adhesive in tiny dots under the embossed pattern in the vellum so that it’s too visible.

This shaker card uses a 4×6 waterfall sleeve and some DIY Party confetti which have been sealed with my Fuse Tool. I’ve popped some lettering on the top for my title which I created using my Mini Alphabet Punch Board.

Card number four is a breeze to put together: some embossed cardstock, a hand cut bloom and a simple phrase. Create your own if you have a typewriter!

I’ve gone over areas with a glitter brush pen for a bit of sparkle.

This thank you card has some simple paper layering using Love Notes ‘Valentine’ and Crush ‘Love Defined’. I’ve added some foil detail with my Heatwave tool and a stencil. Tiny floral detail comes in the form of some new font punches.

Click here for a quick look at this fun tool in action.

Finally, this card makes use of some dry and heat embossing. The title uses a ‘Happy Birthday’ Classic Phrase embossing strip, which has been run through my Evolution Advanced. These little embossing strips are fabulous for cards and come with guides printed on the folder so you know your pattern is going to be perfectly aligned.

I then clear heat embossed the wording so it would stand out a bit more. TIP:  I used a Versamark pen to ensure the coverage was accurate.

The white Ruler Studio frame I used on the card has been stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I really like the way this turned out. It gives it a vintage twist, which coordinates so well with those beautiful Wildflower illustrations.

Really make an impact by pairing your cards with custom Envelope Punch Board envelopes too!

Thanks so much for joining me today. Happy card making!

Honey I’m Home Layout

Hello there We R fans, Wendy Antenucci here today. I am so excited to join you here this year and bring you some inspiration with all the amazing products We R Memory Keepers produces!  Today I played with the Honey I’m Home collection and the Heat Wave.

Busy Creating Memories by Wendy Antenucci for We R Memory Keepers

This layout began with the idea of showcasing my small pictures with the Card & Frame kit included in this new collection.  The frames were a perfect size to nestle 2 of the small pictures inside and it still left plenty of room to decorate.

Busy Creating Memories by Wendy Antenucci-1

With all of the frames on my page I chose a grid design to fit everything in comfortably, but I needed something to really dress up the layout so it wouldn’t be bland.  Welcome the Heat Wave tool!  I used this amazing tool to further embellish my blocks with a leaf pattern with a bold red color that was eye catching and helped to draw your eyes through the whole picture block.  You might also notice a thin gold line that I created with the Heat Wave giving my layout the “frame” that I love to add to my pages.

Busy Creating Memories by Wendy Antenucci-2

To bring attention to my title block, which I fussy cut from a 4×4 card, I used the Heat Wave and flourish stencil to add some special touches and to ground all of my individual items on the layout.

Busy Creating Memories by Wendy Antenucci-3

Designer tip: The Heat Wave is a great tool to add small touches to a layout without distracting from the basic design.

Have you used the Heat Wave tool yet?  I am still learning all of its wonderful abilities, what are some of your favorite ways to use this tool?

Military Appreciation Layout

In the US this week we get to celebrate our former and current servicemen and women, and we’re joining in on the celebration here on the blog! We’ll be sharing ideas for showing appreciation for and celebrating the service and sacrifices of our military and their families all week long. We hope you’re inspired to say “thank you” to someone you know who has given so much in the service of our country.

Hello WR fans! Carrie here with you today to help kick off Military Appreciation Week. I am sharing with you a layout I made using a picture of my son in JROTC. I used a lot of older WRMK Red, White and Blue line I created this layout. The colors were so bold which made turning the picture black and white stand out even more so I wanted to keep this layout simple and to the point. With a little die cutting, fussy cutting and the new WR HeatWave Foil Pen I was able to achieve just that.

Military Appreciation Layout by Carrie Walz for We R Memory Keepers #heatwave #wermemorykeepers

When I finished my layout I felt it needed just a little bit more, something was missing and I knew the HeatWave Foil Pen would provide that little added punch. If you are new to this tool, I would recommend doing a few practice runs just to play it safe. While my pen was heating up I chose the stencil I wanted along with the color of HeatWave foil and aligned it up on the paper I wanted to transfer my foil to.

I slowly traced through the stencil going over the foil a few times. When you are done I suggest you carefully peel up your stencil and foil to see if there are any spots in which you need to go over again. I also found it help if you use some tape to hold your foil down. I used washi tape since it is easy to remove. When you are tracing through your stencil use a slow downward motion and apply a bit a pressure but not too much. The reason I suggest doing some practice runs is because the foil transfers differently to different textured papers. Once I got all of this done I did some fussy cutting to carefully outline my transfer so that I could use it as an embellishment.

I hope I was able to show you one of the many ways you can use this new tool and if you have any other tips or inspiration we would love for you to share in the comments or on our Facebook Page!

Heat Wave Scrapbook Layout | Video Tutorial

Hi there, We R fans! How are you liking Heat Tool Week so far? It’s Aly here with you again today to share a Heat Wave scrapbook layout and a video tutorial. With the Heat Wave Pen you can add shimmer and shine to your projects by handwriting foil accents.  You can freehand your foil accents, or you can use the Heat Wave Stencils we sell separately. Check out the layout I created below with the new Wildflower collection.

I used the Heat Wave Pen to create a title tag for my scrapbook page. Since the Wildflower collection includes lots of blues, I decided to use the blue foil. I love how it turned out!

I shot a project video showing how to create this title tag recently. You can check it out below.

Thanks for letting me stop by today and share this fun Heat Wave project with you. Stay tuned for more Heat Tool inspiration this week. Enjoy!

Heat Wave Card

Welcome to Heat Tool Week here on the We R blog. This week we’re going to share some inspiration featuring our “hottest” new tools–The Heat Wave and The Fuse! Our design team has come up with some amazing projects we know you’re going to love. So, sit back and soak up the eye candy!

Hey there We R friends, Aimee here to share the new Heat Wave tool in action. Ok maybe not in “action” since I don’t’ have a process video {you really don’t want to know what I sound like recorded} for you. Or for that fact photos of me using the tool {do you know how hard it is to take photos, AND use both of your hands at the same time?}

Anyways, on to what you came here today for. The Heat Wave Tool. It really is as cool as you’ve heard! Literally you just write {using the tool of course} on top of the gold foil material and voila, you have transferred the gold foil to your project. What’s even better? We R has made stencils for those of us {ME} who hate their handwriting!

Heat Wave Card by Aimee Maddern 1

Just like any stencil I traced the inside of the ampersand then filled in the ampersand by “coloring” the inside. This gave the ampersand that light zigzag look. After I traced my ampersand I hand cut it.

Heat Wave Card by Aimee Maddern 2

*NOTE: Definitely play around with some scratch paper! And remember that different textured papers will react differently to the Heat Tool and Foil.

For the foundation of the card I used a piece of gold paper and embossed the paper using my evolution advanced and the next level embossing folder gemstones.

Heat Wave Card by Aimee Maddern 3

I just love how the gold paper embossed! I layered it on top of this Dear Lizzy Paper with gold polka dots. With foam adhesive, I then layered my gold-foiled  “heat wave” ampersand on top of some ephemera die cuts from the new We R collection Wildflower.

Heat Wave Card by Aimee Maddern 6

And my card wouldn’t be complete with a matching envelope! I used my 123-punch board to create this see through card using a sheet of Clearly Posh.

Heat Wave Card by Aimee Maddern 5

Don’t you just love how the card looks through those gold stripes!

Did you know you really CAN send this envelope through the mail?  As long as you make a standard size envelope otherwise postage will need to be adjusted. Make sure you use a white label for the shipping and return address, and the lettering is easy to read. Make sure your envelope is sealed good, letters are NOT hand processed and fragile things can get ripped apart!

Use The Heat Wave Tool To Alter An Album Cover + A Giveaway!!

It’s Storage Week here on the We R blog, and we can’t wait to share some of the amazing new storage and organization products we recently released. We think you’re going to love how easy to use, versatile, and stylish they are, so sit back and enjoy!

Hello!  My name is Jennie McGarvey and I am excited to share with you how I decorated the outside of my Die Storage Album!

I absolutely love the simple kraft binder and I knew dressing it up would be fun.  However, I really wanted to keep the simplicity, as well.  For storage purposes, I didn’t want to add any bulk and I also knew that things that I attached might fall off over time.

What to use?  How about the brand new Heatwave tool I was itching to use? Yup!  That’s it — lets add a little simplicity with just the tool, some silver foil and some dies from my album as templates.

Now, We R Memory Keepers sells some really fun templates to use with the Heatwave tool.  I know I’ll have lots of occasions to use those, but this time I really wanted stars.  I knew they would create the look I was going for.  Therefore, I used the Nesting Star Dies as templates.

What’s really fun is even after using the foil sheets there is still plenty of foil left over for other uses and designs

Now, I have a decorative way to store my dies that is all my own!

The 6×12 Die Storage Album comes with three 6×12 magnetic storage pouches, and is an ideal way to store any brand of thin metal dies. All of We R’s new dies come packaged in a magnetic zipper pouch that fits into the binder as well. Extra magnetic zipper pouches are sold separately in packs of three.

**Now for the giveaway!! If you’d like a chance to win a Die Storage Binder (3 storage pouches included) leave a comment on this post. A random winner will be selected and announced on Monday, September 14th. Good luck, and be sure to check back to see if you won!**
