Adding More Photos To Your Layouts

Hi everyone, it’s Traci and today I’ll be sharing a tip for adding lots of photos to a 12×12 page.  I use this technique in my mini album kits and custom scrapbook pages all the time.  When a client requests a custom album they often want more photos on a 12×12 page than will traditionally “fit”.  My solution?  Cards that flip-up or fold-out to reveal additional photos.

First, I created my 12×12 base page.  For this layout I used the new Denim Blues paper .  Once I had the base and overall design, I looked at the photos to consider size.  Could several photos be cropped to 3×4? 4×4? another size?

The key to adding lots of photos is a flip-card that will hold three photos…one on the front, and two inside the card.

For my first card, the photo is 4×4.  The We R Memory Instagram overlay frame is 4×4, so I chose to make my flip-up card 4.25” x 4.25”.  My base card stock needs to be 4.25” x 8.50”, with a score line at 4.25”.

For this layout I have two 4.25×4.25” cards and one 4.25×6.25” card.  In order for me to be able to open the cards from the outside of my plastic page protector, I used a craft knife to create a slit in the plastic.  I slid the page into my We R Memory Keepers Page protector and laid the photo cards down on top of the plastic.  Then I gently cut slits in the plastic along each of the card’s fold lines.

I added adhesive to the back of each card and slipped the backs through the slits so that the card now opens from outside of the page protector.

Thanks for letting me share this fun way to get lots of photos on a page!  We would love to see your layouts so please share pictures with us on our Facebook page!  Thanks for stopping by!

Instaframe Mini Album

During my sons’ homecoming dinner date at our house last weekend I really tried to curb my photo-crazy-helicopter-mom instincts and let them have some peace and quiet. I did insist on a few photos however, to which they kindly consented. I decided to create an Instaframe Mini Album to document the fun evening. I used the Inked Rose collection with the coordinating Instagram Die Cut & Journaling Cards. Take a peek!

It was fun to use the instaframes included in the Instagram journaling cards. I love the additional dimension, layers, and playful feel they create. Each page includes an instaframe attached to the background page only on three of the four sides so that a photo can be slid in and out. I added a tab to each photo that I created with my Tab Punches to make it easier to remove the photos.

Each background page is a different size to create a more eclectic feel to the album. I also included some machine stitching on each page for additional texture and detail. Most of my embellishments were fussy-cut from either the journaling cards or the 12×12 Inked Rose paper. Your patterned paper is a great source to turn to for DIY embellishments.

I adhered some elements with foam squares to add depth to the layers on each page. I also repeated some elements on each page (such as Washi Tape and Enamel Shapes) to create a unified look to the album. Since I sewed on most pages I covered the stitching on the backs of them with journaling cards, patterned paper, and Washi Tape so the album has a more finished feel.

I included some handwritten journaling about the evening on the back of two pages. I wrote about what they did, as well as some of my boys’ thoughts after the night was over. Finally, I bound the pages with my Cinch using a 3/4″ wire.

Instaframes are a fun and versatile element that you can include on any project. They add more depth and dimension, and are a quick and easy solution when creating with photos. Have you tried using instaframes in your paper craft projects?

Happy Friday, visitors of the We R blog! Here’s another post by me, Amanda Rose Zampelli, product designer for the We R team.

Today on my blog, I’m sharing how I used the 2×2 cards that come in the AlbumsMadeEasy Instgram kits to embellish a week in my planner. As an avid, consistent memory keeper, I find that printing quick little photos of my week and sticking them in my planner aids in the weekly pocket scrapbooking I do on a larger scale (with 3x4s and 4x6s).  Using the 2×2 cards seen below made my planner feel like a put-together scrap piece all on its own.

Inked Rose Inspiration

Hello there, WeR fans, it’s Nicole Harper. I’ve been so eager to share a project using the brand new Inked Rose line!! I am immediately drawn to navy blue, so when you add the green + yellow into the mix I was on cloud nine. I’m sharing another pocket page today using the Albums Made Easy system…let’s have a look. 🙂

I am using the back side of the same page protector I shared last month, with (4) 4×6 pockets and (3) 4×4 pockets. As I mentioned in my last post, I rarely stick to the ‘intended’ layout of a pocket page…I love slipping 3×4 cards into a 4×6 pocket to switch things up! This time around, I wanted to stress that it is perfectly OK to allow one of the AME cards to shine all on it’s own. As I tell people over and over when teaching classes using this system, I love pretty paper!! And when I find a card that I love the design of, I sometimes just slip it right into the sleeve.

On the left of the above photo, you can see where I layered one of the metallic vellum cards underneath a die cut 4×4 Inked Rose card. I am head over heels for the vellum line, as it pairs easily with ANY other AME items you already have…just spruces them up a wee bit by adding some trendy metallic.

Again, that butterfly card? Straight out of the set…just a splash of gold spray ink and a bit of washi + some doodling. The polka dot card was perfect for my traditional ‘this week was’ card…I usually include this as a summary for anything I may not have focused on somewhere else on the page. All of these cards are pretty ‘plain’ other than a strip of washi and an enamel shape or two. Remember, not every pocket has to be a ‘masterpiece’ that you spend tons of time on!!

Make sure you check out the brand new Instagram Albums Made Easy sets…there are a ton of great 4×4 and 2×2 cards in each, including die cuts!!

A Day in the Life: Instagram

My favorite way to edit and share my phone photos is via Instagram.  If you’re not familiar with Instagram, it’s an app available for iOS and Android phones that allows you to crop your photos, apply cool effects to them, and share them on Instagram and on several other major social media networks.  Check out the layout below that I created about a day in my life using some of my recent Instagram photos:

I used journaling cards from the Memo Albums Made Easy collection (plus one title card from the Tangerine collection), and simply trimmed the 6×4 cards to 4×4.  I decided not to round the corners of those journaling cards, but to use the straight edges as a design element rotating them in various directions throughout the design.

I punched some tabs out with my Bracket Tab Punch and then added the time of day with some mini alpha and number stickers from the Red, White, and Blue Paper Pack.  Since I didn’t want to add any adhesive to my photos, I stuck the tabs and some washi tape accents onto the outside of the photo sleeves over the photos.  That way if I want to remove the photos to use them for something else, I don’t need to worry about having anything stuck to them.
I also adhered one of my Instagram photos to the outside of the photo sleeves using the journaling cards as a background.  Try “thinking outside the sleeve” sometime on your next Albums Made Easy layout. =)
Instagram photos are all cropped into squares, and of course as the industry leader in photo sleeve quality and selection, We R Memory Keepers has got photo sleeves for that!  There are two options for 4×4 with 3×4 cards…
…and there’s also a 4×4 nine square grid option available.

Last of all, I wanted to share how I download and print my Instagram photos.  My favorite option is  This website allows you to select and download photos directly from your Instagram account to your computer’s hard drive.  Then you can upload them and print them at your favorite photo printing service.  You can print them as 4×6 prints and trim them, or some services offer Instagram prints as well.

If you’re already an Instagram fan, or are soon to become one, We R Memory Keepers Instagram-friendly photo sleeves are the perfect way to document your camera-phone memories!
