DIY Planner Embellishments with the Mini Evolution

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with a fun layout for my planner. Every year in the month of October, I love to cook and bake silly and fun foods for Halloween. To help me get organized, I created a planner page to begin the meal planning process. Using my Mini Evolution from We R Memory Keepers, I was able to die cut some fun embellishments for my page. Not normally being a person who decorates her planner pages, this was really fun and I have to say, addicting!

DIY Planner Embellishments with the Mini Evolution

I started by creating a dimensional way to mark my page in my planner. Using a bat paper clip from Pebbles, I die cut a circle from patterned paper. Then I added that adorable cat brad to the center of the circle. A basic clip with a simple addition that makes it stand out.

DIY Planner Embellishments with the Mini Evolution

Then I began the fun of decorating my pages. Layering papers and colors was fun! Underneath the cute bat tag that was pre-made, I added a banner of patterned paper. I die cut the paper and then trimmed it to fit the space.

Underneath the pre-made Pebbles images I used, I wanted to add more color and texture. Looking at my embossing folders, I saw the Fall folder with the spider web image border. Using black tape and the folder, a very cool border was created. The tape is perfect for this for two reasons. One, it brings out the image in white, and two, it is self-adhesive once you remove the backing.

DIY Planner Embellishments with the Mini Evolution

As I pondered how else I could use my Mini Evolution for this page, I realized I did not want to draw in all my boxes like usual, so I dug through my die stash and found this cute scalloped frame, which was spot-on! Not only does it add color to the pages, but a unique look that I will use again!

The best part of using the Mini Evolution for these pages was how small the machine is, but still powerful. It would be easy to keep on a small office desk, or carry in your every day planner bag of supplies. A great addition for some creative layouts!

Mini Envelope Birthday Cards

Good morning, We R readers, Laura here today. I am excited to share how to create these cute mini envelope birthday cards for the World Cardmaking Day celebration on the blog this week.

Mini Envelope Birthday Cards by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Mini things are my favorite, and I am loving all the mini tools We R Memory Keepers has added this year. Today, I am using the mini envelope punch board and mini evolution to create a set of cute birthday cards.

I started by trimming and scoring solid colored cardstock to create horizontal 4” x 6” cards. I then trimmed a piece of white cardstock to fit inside the solid card base.

Next, I used the mini evolution, label maker tape, and a label embossing folder to create Happy Birthday sentiments for each of the cards. The label tape is so fun and is easy to use with any project. Since it already has adhesive on the back, it makes it simple to add cute sayings or designs to your cards.

Then, I used the mini envelope punch board to create some adorable tiny envelopes using the DCWV Butterflies & Flowers paper pack. The finished envelopes are only 1 ½” by 2”!

I closed one of the envelopes and left the second envelope open. I attached them to the card front using adhesive. I created a little note to come out of the open envelope using white cardstock and a Thickers chipboard accent sticker.

I added a little balloon coming out of the envelope and attached some baker’s twine to finish it off. The closed envelope got a cute little rhinestone embellishment on the envelope closure.

These adorable little birthday cards are prefect for sending to a loved one. You could easily adapt this design for almost any occasion using a different embossed label sentiment at the bottom and a unique note coming out of the envelope.

How to Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps

Hello!  It’s Rebecca with you today, taking on autumn-inspired packages and spotlighting some WRMK stamping tools, specifically the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution Stamp, Die, and Emboss kit.  I have a tutorial for you for the stamping portion of the gifts, along with a couple of tips to make your projects sail along smoothly.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory KeepersMake DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

My first tip: Read the directions!!  I know, it seems so simple, but I often jump right into a thing without giving the directions a second thought, especially if it’s something I think I already know how to do, like stamping.  If you’re working with either of the Precision Presses (Advanced or Mini) or the kit, it’s going to help you sort out all the products and use the presses correctly.  Also, there are helpful tips in the directions, like stamping your lighter colored images first and using the perfect paper size.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I’m starting with the Celebrate tag.  The components to create this pretty floral piece line up exactly with the pegs of the Mini Precision Press.  These stamps will also work with plain clear acrylic blocks or the large Precision Press; likewise, the Mini Precision Press is a great tool for any of your smaller stamps, not just these.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Align the stamps to the press first, then position your cardstock.  Tip: I recommend using a bit of washi tape to keep it in place.  Rub a good quality white eraser over your stamps to remove oils or lint and smooth the clear stamp surface to absorb the ink.  When you’re ready, ink up the stamp, and press to your cardstock.

You may get great coverage on your very first try, and you may not, which is why a stamping tool like the PP is nice to use.  This is also why it’s good to use the washi to keep the paper in place.  Stamp again if needed and then add the second part of the image–the leafy spray.

If you’re using this kit, and these particular images, you can run your paper through the Mini Evolution with the die cutting/embossing folder.  It will create the tag you see here.  I also made a tag from some DCWV patterned paper that I’ll use for my gift wrap.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

The above stamps were coordinated and placed just-so, but what if you want to make your own design?  That’s just as simple with the PP.  On a different tag, I decided to use some of the other stamps in the kit.  I love to create my own backgrounds and it’s difficult to mess up if you’re using a stamp guide.  You’ll always know exactly where you’re stamping your images.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I taped my cardstock to the platform base again to keep it from moving since this design requires more placing/removing of the clear top piece.  Place your stamps face down on your paper in the position and area you want them, press the top piece down to grab them, and lift off.  When you put it back down with ink on the stamp, it will be right where you meant to stamp the image.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

When I’m creating a design like this, I make sure to clean off my stamp between each round so I don’t get smudges on my paper.  It’s an extra step if you’re using the same stamp over and over, but you know you’ll get great results each time.  In the end, I have a pretty paper swatch, ready to be turned into a tag.  Tip: You can use a different ink each time you stamp an image for an extra colorful design!

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

After my tags were created, it was time to make the packaging, which I did with my trusty 1-2-3 Punch Board.  I chose an A7 size envelope box this time.  It’s as easy to make as an envelope, but there’s an extra scored line on each rotation and you end up with a box that’s 3/4″ deep.  (It’s a terrific way to package notecard sets!)

My papers are from DCWV Faded Floral paper stack.  The colors and patterns are gorgeous and I’m excited to dip back into my favorite color palette, the autumn-inspired navy blue, coral pink, ochre/burnt orange, and gray.

Make DIY Gift Wrap with Your Stamps by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I tied some ribbon around each box, attached my stamped tags, as well as a coordinating patterned paper tag, and then embellished with yarn pom-poms.  Pom-poms on gift wrap is still a favorite of mine, and I made these with the Pom-Pom maker set.

Thank you so much for hanging out with me today.  I hope you’ll give stamping with the Mini Precision Press a try!

Make Halloween Treat Bags with the Mini Evolution

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with a Halloween treat project. I love making Halloween treats, but time is always of the essence. So, using a few We R Memory Keepers tools, I was able to put together some really fun treats in no time flat! Plus, I can always get the helpers around the house to put these together, because the tools are that easy to use.

After placing your desired treats in a small, plastic bag, seal the ends with the Fuse Tool.

The Fuse Tool will seal the bag and hold all the treats inside. To use the Fuse Tool, begin by plugging it and giving it a few minutes to heat up.

Note: Put candy in the bag BEFORE sealing. Helpful hint. 😀

When the tool is ready, place the Fuse Tool ruler over the end of the bag, making sure that the bag is flat and aligned. Follow the edge of the ruler, slowly, with the Fuse Tool. Be sure and place the bag on a heat-resistant surface before sealing it closed. The tip of the Fuse Tool gets very hot, so use caution.

Once the bags are sealed, it is time to create the toppers. Trim these adorable patterned papers from DCWV down to size. By scoring the paper in the middle, it creates a topper that covers both front and back.

Mini Evolution, Embossing Folders and Embossing Tape by We R Memory Keepers

To create the tricks and treats tape, take out the We R Memory Keepers Mini Evolution, Label Tape, and a Label Embossing folder. The Label Tape is sticky once the backing is removed, making it the perfect sticker for the treat bags.

Pass the tape, inside of the embossing folder, through the We R Memory Keepers Mini Evolution. When embossing with folders, use the two clear plates. Also be sure to have the Label Tape color facing up to get the cool embossed look.

Mini Clear Cut Star Punch by We R Memory Keepers

For a little more color on the treat bags, add some stars punched from paper with a Clear Cut Punch-Mini.

After assembling the toppers, adhere them to the bags. One line of tape on the inside-back, and one line of tape on the inside-front keeps the bags secure.

DIY Framed Home Decor

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with a lovely photo frame perfect for this time of year! Believe it or not, but I made this project with a very small set of We R Memory Keepers tools. Which goes to show you just how powerful and helpful We R tools can be!

DIY Framed Home Decor with the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

I have always loved the phrase; the best is yet to come. With all the alphabet stamps I seem to have accumulated over the years, I thought, why not mix and match the letters and make my own custom panel?

DIY Framed Home Decor with the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

See, I knew I could make it all the stamped letters line up perfectly with the We R Memory Keepers Mini Precision Press. Love the confidence you can have going in to a project with great tools!

DIY Framed Home Decor with the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

To highlight the words “best” and “come,” I used block letter stamps. To line the spacing between the letters up precisely, I placed my letter stamps down on my panel of patterned paper and then picked the stamps up all at once by placing the We R Memory Keepers Mini Precision Press plate over the top. Each and every time I stamp the word now, everything will stay exactly where I want it! (Might be a good time to consider making a bunch of cards with this phrase, as long as I have the words lined up…)

DIY Framed Home Decor with the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

After placing my phrase inside a frame with a few layers of beautiful patterned papers, I knew the project needed some dimension. Looking around my desk, I noticed a simple set of circle dies sitting next to my We R Memory Keepers Mini Evolution. Let me share my fun party trick with you and show you how to create 3D flowers and leaves from a simple circle!

DIY Framed Home Decor with the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

After die cutting my circle, I cut into the circle in a spiral towards the center. You can round off the harsh corner with your scissors to make a smoother flower.

Begin rolling the paper from the outside towards the center. I find that to get a tighter roll, using the end of one of my stylus tools assists greatly.

Once the paper is rolled, allow the edges to be free to open into a flower shape. Apply a glue to the bottom of the flower and hold in place for a minute or two until the glue sets.

Second part of my trick? Use the same circle die to create leaves!

DIY Framed Home Decor with the Mini Precision Press and the Mini Evolution by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

Cut a piece of patterned paper with the circle die. Mix up the sizes for fun variety in the leaves. Then place the die over half of the circle and pass it through your We R Memory Keepers Mini Evolution again.

Also, use a bit of tape to hold the die in place. Otherwise it may slip during cutting and turn out not the way you expected.

Voila! A leaf! Go ahead and bend the leaf in the center to add dimension. Or, add ink along the edges.

Paper Flower Canvas with the Mini Evolution

Hey We R friends, Laura here today! Mother’s Day is right around the corner. I love to make something special when I can because I think handmade gifts are so special. Today, I am going to share with you how to create this Mother’s Day paper flower canvas. You can personalize it to your mom’s liking by choosing her favorite color flowers.

Paper Flower Canvas with the Mini Evolution by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

The Mini Evolution is the perfect little tool for creating small embellishments like paper flowers and leaves. I am using the Vicki Boutin stamps and die sets, but any flower and leaf die would work great for this project!

Use the Mini Evolution to cut out your flower die cuts. I used textured shimmer cardstock, but you can use any color you like. Since I was using 12 x 12-inch paper, I cut it down to 3” wide before beginning so it would fit in the Mini Evolution.

Paper Flower Canvas with the Mini Evolution by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I was able to get six flowers out of each strip – two large, two medium, and two smalls.

Next, I used the Mini Evolution to die cut some leaf shapes. I used the embossing folder that came with the Mini Evolution. To me it looked a little like the veins you find on leaves. I left the smallest leaves plain as I planned on stamping them.

Use your stamp pad and stamp the smallest flowers and leaves using black ink.

Paper Flower Canvas with the Mini Evolution by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I know there are special tools for rolling the edges of paper flowers, but personally I like to simply use a small diameter smooth pencil to curl mine. I curled the edges on both the medium and large flower die cuts.

Paper Flower Canvas with the Mini Evolution by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I assembled the flowers by using adhesive and foam dots to create a three-layer flower.

To attach everything to the canvas I used sticky red tape. It is stronger than regular adhesive, so the flowers won’t fall off. You could also attach the flowers to the canvas using hot glue.

You could personalize this canvas even further to make it extra special for your mom. You can paint the background, add the word Mom with paper or iron-on, or add some gold glitter to the edges.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution

Hello WRMK fans!  I’m Rebecca and I’m happy to be here with you today!  I do a lot of die cutting when I’m crafting.  I also have a very small workspace so I don’t have room to keep a large cutting machine on my desk; I have to lug it out for each and every craft session.  Admittedly, it makes me not even want to bother sometimes.  That’s why I was so excited to start using the Mini Evolution from We R Memory Keepers.  It’s small enough to keep out, and it comes with all kinds of fun things to whip up some cute and quick projects–read on!

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution by Rebcca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

The Mini Evolution comes with 8 stitched circle dies nested together, as well as 2 embossing folders; one is polka dots and the other is a herringbone-type design.  The plates are included to make the proper “sandwiches” for cutting or embossing, and there’s even a pack of 50 white and cream cardstock sheets that are already cut down to the perfect size for this machine!  When I set out to decorate a birthday gift box duo for a friend, the ME was the tool I went to to create the tags.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

With papers by Heidi Swapp and Pebbles, I made 2 gift boxes with the 1-2-3 Punchboard.  The floral print size is 4″ x 4″ and the navy-blue pattern is 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4.”  After assembling the boxes, I die cut a bunch of circles from the white and cream stock, some patterned paper, and even some vellum.  The machine and included tools cut and embossed all of them with ease.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

For the plain paper and vellum, I used the embossing folders to dress them up and add texture.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I also used a sentiment die I already had to cut out “happy” and “birthday” after stamping them.  The Mini cut them just perfectly, and due to the size of the dies I used, it was so convenient not having to use my bigger cutting machine on such small dies.  It’s such a time-saver!

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

After arranging all of my circles to my liking, I punched 1/8″ holes in them with my Crop-a-Dile, then strung them onto each box with white twine.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

*Tip:  To get the ‘fanned’ look of the circles, I punched most of the holes off-center.  If I wanted the tag to peek out from the right, I punched the hole on the left, and vice versa.

DIY Gift Wrap with the Mini Evolution by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I also made a couple of tassels for each package with thread and the Tassel Loom, which I strung on under the top-most tags.  The final touch is a string of navy-blue sequin trim.

You might be surprised by how much you can do with the Mini Evolution, and its size, for me, is the best thing about it.  I’m excited to have a quick go-to machine I can leave out on my small workspace.  It comes with a set of great dies and embossing folders, and also works with the wafer-thin dies I already own.  Die cutting projects just got a little less time consuming for me–and that is always a great thing!
