Kids Craft: Door Hangers

Hello, We R friends. Enza here, and today I’m sharing a fun project that you can easily make with or for your kids. I love crafting with my kids. My oldest daughter is very creative and truly enjoys playing with papers and We R Memory Keepers tools. When I asked her to give me an idea for this assignment, she said: “Why don’t we make those door hangers we’ve been talking about a lot lately?” She was so excited, I couldn’t say no 🙂

I used several tools, some old some new.

We started by trimming patterned paper from the gorgeous Sparkle City collection by Shimelle to measure 5.5×6.5 inches; then using the Banner Punch Board, we created the banner shapes to use as our base.

One of the tools I’ve been enjoying lately is the Ribbon Stitching Tool – so easy to use, and the effect is super pretty! We placed the paper between the magnetic guides and pierced it with the provided tool. The guides kept the paper from shifting, so the cut was precise and sharp. To pass the ribbon through the holes, we used the adhesive needle that comes with the tool.

Once that was done, we cut another banner, smaller than the first one, and machine-stitched it to the base using the Stitch Happy Sewing Machine. We also punched stars from patterned paper with the new 1 inch Clear Cut Punch. We decided to create some dimension by layering the stars and adhering them with foam dots; embellishments from the same collection finished the front.

For the handle, we just hot glued pom pom ribbon to the back and added two paper tassels from the Crate Paper All Heart collection on one side.

Scrapbook Page with the Ribbon Stitching Tool

Hello and Welcome to a new layout with a new tool. This time with the Ribbon Stitch Tool. With this tool you can quickly and easily create great woven effects. For this you need the colorful ribbons from We R Memory Keepers.

First, I thought about how I could best use the tool on my layout. And so I decided to use circles. The layout has the size 9 x 12 inch. First I cut out 3 circles with the cutting machine. A circle for the ribbons.

The holes for the ribbon are made with the small handy piercer. The magnetic guide is placed on the cardstock and there you go. The paper does not slip through the magnets.

I pierced the holes in a staggered fashion. To create a woven pattern.

Many colorful ribbons are available from We R Memory Keepers. And I really wanted to put a lot of colors on my layout. Due to the different materials and patterns the ribbons look very interesting.

The ribbon is attached to a small adhesive needle. I used the needle for all the tapes. That worked great. You don’t always have to use a new needle.

After embroidering, I wrapped some yarn around the edge of the circle and glued them to the back. I decorated the lower circle with papers from the Crate Paper collection La La Love.

I hope you enjoyed my short tutorial and thank you for stopping by.

Yours, Steffi

Handmade Card with the Ribbon Stitching Tool

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with a card that is loaded with texture! Adding texture to any card or layout adds extra oomph to your project. It literally makes you want to reach out and touch it! See how the ribbon is woven into the paper? The Ribbon Stitch Tool helps you create that look simply.

The Ribbon Stitch Tool has a top and bottom that holds together with a magnet. To begin, sandwich your paper between the two parts. It is very easy to adjust your paper and get the guidelines straight. When the placement is as you desire, push the tool down into the paper, using the guides. You will have to turn the tool, as the curve on the punch is curved in one direction.

This is what the paper looks like when it has been punched. You can continue your pattern down your paper, or simply stop here for a border.

The Ribbon Stitch Tool comes with small, plastic, threaders. These pieces make it much easier to weave your ribbon into your paper. Pull off the adhesive backing and place the plastic on each side of the end of your ribbon.

After weaving the ribbon through my patterned paper, I trimmed the ends close to the edge with a notch. It was a cute finish for this card. It would also be easy to adhere the ribbon ends on the backside of the paper.

I added a Pebbles sticker and a few leaves I made from patterned paper to the ribbon embellishment. It really makes the words pop from the card.

What kind of weaving pattern would you create?
