Throwback Thursday: Instagram Albums

One of our most popular new releases last year was our 4×4 Instagram Albums, sleeves, and inserts. These cuties make perfect gifts and are great solutions for storing Instagram photos. For Throwback Thursday today we thought we’d share a post from last year highlighting some of the awesome feature of these little albums, plus some fun tips and tricks for embellishing them. Scroll down through the pages of the album, and then be sure to watch the video below for details, tips, and tricks!

Vellum Wedding Banner

When planning a DIY wedding deciding on decor that’s beautiful but doesn’t break the bank can be a challenge. Thankfully paper is relatively inexpensive and there are so many stunning specialty papers available that really make paper decor look elegant. Vellum is the perfect paper for a wedding, and vellum with metallic print on it is even better! Check out this Vellum Wedding Banner I made with the Sheer Metallic collection.

First I die cut the letters from silver heart vellum paper with my electronic die cutting machine, and then I cut the same letters from white cardstock to back the vellum and give it more support. (Plus the silver metallic hearts really stand out that way too!)

Then I cut some heart shapes from silver and gold metallic textured cardstock, adding a smaller vellum heart to the center of the gold one. I used permanent glue dots to adhere the hearts and letters together, making sure to attach both the tops and bottoms of the taller letters so the banner would be sturdy.

Finally, I used my Crop-A-Dile to add Wide Shimmer Eyelets to the outside edges of the silver hearts and then I added some silver metallic ribbon for hanging. You can create your own custom vellum wedding garland with the names of the bride and groom, or whatever other text you’d like.

You can even create matching favor boxes and thank you cards too!

Mother’s Day Instagram Album

Mother’s Day is this weekend, so I thought I would share some gift ideas for the women in your life that you’ll be celebrating soon. The first idea is a little Instagram Album filled with photos of the kids, grand kids, or other special people. Here’s a little inspiration for you.

We R Mothers Day Instagram Album_cover

I love the metallic trend right now, and the 4×4 size of this Gold Album is perfect for a little brag book that Grandma can throw in her purse.

I combined the Sheer Metallic Instagram Albums Made Easy Journaling Cards with some papers and stickers from the Inked Rose collection. I love the vellum cards–so fun to work with, and so pretty!

I used my 2 inch square punch and 1/8″ and 3/8″ Corner Chomper to create some of my own journaling cards.

To keep things interesting, sometimes I like to stretch elements across two pockets like I did with the Hello card below.

We R Mothers Day Instagram Album_page3

I also like to leave the backs of the vellum cards empty sometimes to allow the sheer quality of them to show. I love the peek-a-boo look that produces.

Don’t forget you can also add elements to the outside of your page protectors to either cut down on the bulk inside the pockets, or to keep things fun and fresh.

Stay tuned for more Mother’s Day gift ideas this week!

One Product, 3 Ways: Envelope Punch Board

One of my favorite things about We R Memory Keeper’s products is their versatility. So, today I decided to pick one of my favorite We R products and use it in three different ways. The product I chose is the popular Envelope Punch Board, and I created three different items with it that I used on these projects.

We R Envelope Punch Board Projects by Aly Dosdall

Using my EPB I made 1) the gift card holder envelope, 2) the paper bow, and 3) the treat holder.

We R Envelope Punch Board Gift Card Holder by Aly Dosdall

To make the gift card envelope I used the instructions on my board to create the smallest envelope, 2 x 3, and folded it vertically with the small flap at the top. Then I adhered the three flaps together, leaving the top flap open, and then added the envelope to the front of my card.

To make the paper bow, I followed the instructions found in THIS video to make a small paper bow. Then I added it to my treat box along with an embossed paper band.

Finally, I made a small treat holder using my Envelope Punch Board. I started by trimming my paper to 5×5 inches. I lined up my paper on the punch board at 1 3/4 inches, punched and scored, and then rotated my paper counterclockwise 90 degrees, lined up the score line and continued the same steps just like making a regular envelope. Then I rounded and folded the flaps, added my treats, and adhered the treat holder closed.

To finish off the treat holder I added an embossed paper band, the paper bow, and a letterpress tag that I made using the new Homemade printing plates and matching dies.

What are your favorite We R products, and how do you like to use them?

New Star Ornament Die + Video

I’m sure most of you have seen the beautiful 3D paper star ornaments floating around many of the DIY blogs over the last year. Well, I’m excited to share with you that now you can create these beautiful ornaments quickly and easily using the new Star Ornament Template Die! Take a look at what you can create with this die:

Beautiful, huh? I chose to create my ornament with some papers from the Sheer Metallic Vellum Pad. I love the semi-sheer quality of these papers!

The dimensions of the star when fully assembled are about 15 1/2 inches in diameter. The die itself is just under 6 inches square. There are small holes for hanging, and I also tied some glitter floss tassels at each point.

Flower Punch Board Project and Video

I’m so excited to share this Flower Punch Board Project with you today!  I love all the painted mason jars I’ve been seeing lately on the internet, so I made some flowers with the punch board from Sheer Metallic papers and placed them in a mason jar I painted white.

After I painted the jar and allowed it to dry, I sanded it with some fine grain sandpaper to get a distressed look and then tied some silver Sew Easy Glitter Floss to the top. I created several 4 inch and 3 inch flowers and layered them together, some vellum and some metallic cardstock. Then I added some Enamel Dots to the centers of the flowers.

Check out the video below where I demonstrate how to use the Flower Punch Board to create the flowers for this project.

Be sure to share your Flower Punch Board projects on our Facebook page (link’s on the sidebar). We’d love to see them!

Something Old, Something New: Vellum Card

Today I thought it would be fun to take on a challenge: include something old and something new on the same project. Here is my take on the challenge. Can you tell which is the old and which is the new?

Here are the supplies I chose for my card: some new vellum products from the Sheer Metallic collection, and some old clear stamps and metal flowers from the Antique Chic collection.

I stamped the chandelier image on the vellum journaling card with watermark ink, sprinkled gold metallic embossing powder over it, and then heat embossed it.  Even though the stamp is older, combining it with the hot new metallic trend gives it a refreshed look!

I added some Metallic Washi Tape, and other bits and pieces to complete my card.  I love this challenge because it gets me digging into my stash of older products, and lets me use some of my favorite newer items too. Give it a try on your next project!

Instagram, Albums Made Easy, & Sheer Metallic

One thing I love about the Albums Made Easy system is how versatile it is.  Even though there are so many Photo Sleeve configurations to choose from, sometimes I still like to alter things to fit my needs.  For example, the layout below uses one Instagram 4×4 + 4×3 Photo Sleeve, and one half of a 6×4 + 3×4 Photo Sleeve.

We R_Sheer Metallic AME Layout_Aly Dosdall

Since I only had one extra photo after filling up my 4×4 sleeve, I didn’t really want to make another full page so I just cut my second sleeve in half with my paper trimmer.

I love the look of the Sheer Metallic journaling cards!  They layer so beautifully on Albums Made Easy pages. I added some Metallic Washi Tape for additional layers and accents.

We R_Sheer Metallic AME Layout close4_Aly Dosdall

I also used some Albums Made Easy Shape dies–I included the positive and negative cuts as well.  I filled one of the pockets with loose vellum shapes rather than a journaling card to keep things fresh.

We R_Sheer Metallic AME Layout close2_Aly Dosdall

The vellum pocket from the Sheer Metallic journaling cards is stuffed with some hearts that I cut from Gold Metallic Cardstock using the Heart Punches Die. To keep them from falling out I adhered the top two to the back of the vellum pocket.

Finally I added a few Neutral Enamel Shapes to finish off my layout.  I hope these ideas inspire your Albums Made Easy creations. Creative cheers!

Metallic Frame

I love to use my scrapbook supplies to make decor pieces for my home.  It makes me feel better about my growing stash of supplies!  So, I decided to create a fresh decor piece using my favorite new We R collection–Sheer Metallic.

We R_metallic frame_aly dosdall

I love the metallic trend in fashion, decor, and crafting right now and I wanted to put a different twist on it, so I used some cork board as my background.  I love the contrast created with the earthy cork texture and the metallic vellum!

The metallic textured cardstock included in the Sheer Metallic Vellum Pad provides a nice solid background for the layers of metallic vellum paper and the wooden tag.  I also added some Metallic Washi Tape strips as additional layers.

We R_metallic frame close_aly dosdall

I love how well the vellum layers–it adds such interesting texture and dimension with its semi-transparent quality.  What do you think about the Sheer Metallic collection?  Are you a vellum or metallic fan?
