DIY Geometric Light Strand

Hello everybody! Soraya here with you today to share a fun tutorial to make a light garland, using the incredible Triangle Score Guide along with the Trim & Score Board. As this is National Craft Month, I’m very excited to share this new project with you! The Triangle Score Guide is so smart since it allows you to create fun geometric shapes and gems by placing it on your Trim & Score Board. There is a complete guide book where you can find all the instructions and inspiration you need to start with it but here is my take on this amazing tool!

To make this light garland you will also need 12×12 acetate papers, a LED garland, scissors, pencil, adhesive runner and some washi tape.

Triangle Score Guide and Trim and Score Board by We R Memory Keepers

I used a piece of white cardstock to make this step-by-step for you so you can see how I scored and folded it. So let’s get started! First of all, to make the icosahedron shape I scored paper every 2 inches. Don’t forget to fold over the bottom left corner so that you can keep track of your page orientation as you rotate it. Then I placed the Triangle Score Guide on the Trim & Score Board  (Side A) and started to score every 2 inch starting by the « 8 »  mark (the bottom left corner you folded is in front of you.)

Then flip the Triangle Score Guide (Side B) and rotate the paper so that the folded corner is on the left and score every 2 inches.

Now use the template you have on the instruction book to outline the area with your pencil and cut out the shape with your scissors.

Use your adhesive runner to stick all the tabs and edges together, and this is the final shape you should get after assembling every side of the icosahedron!

Repeat the process 4 times with the 12×12 acetate papers to get 4 icosahedrons. I also made 4 little tetrahedron shapes (pyramids) with the leftovers, they will be perfect for the garland ! How cute are these geometric shapes ?

It’s time to place the little LED lights inside the shapes (use some hot glue if you need the little lights to stick inside).  And voilà!

And here is what you get : a pretty light garland to decorate your craft room or your desk! Love how the transparency and the polka dots on the acetate paper diffuses the light!

I hope you had fun joining me today, and I hope this project will inspire you to make your very own geometric shapes. The Triangle Score Board may be a little bit  intimidating at first, but it’s way much more addicting once you start!  There are so many possibilities, you will love it! Happy creative Tuesday everyone and until next time!

Frame Punch Board Mini Book

Hello WRMK fans! Soraya here with you today to share a creative minibook I made using the fun-tastic Frame Punch Board ! « Monaco » is the title of this minibook since living on the French Riviera I have the chance to go there often and last time we spent the day in Monaco, we had a fabulous moment walking in the old city near the Princely Palace, admiring the amazing panoramic view above the Mediterranean Sea and visiting the great oceanographic museum. It was a perfect day to be documented in a minibook !

So I will take you with me on a trip to Monaco, are you ready ? Let’s go !

First of all, I created the structure of the album using the Trim & Score Board and strengthened the spine with another piece of paper that I stuck outside and inside (and for the covers as well).  This mini book measures  (5 ½ x 6 ¾ )

monaco-minibook-by-soraya-maes-3

To create the inner pages (in various sizes) I scored a border at about 1 inch on every left edge : this is where they are going to be stuck on the cover.

Let’s make a shaker pocket frame on the cover! Grab your Frame Punch Board and trim a frame to fit the size of your photo. Follow the instructions in the manual, or follow the demo video you can find on the WRMK YouTube channel. Once you’ve done the frame, put your photo into a waterfall photo sleeve, add some sequins and sparkles inside. Then, use your Fuse Tool on the Fuse Mat to close the pocket on the back.

Here is a tip to place your title : use a ruler to set your thickers on it before placing them on your project!  Add some embellishments all around the frame and voilà! Love the touch of glitter on the photo !

Let’s go through the minibook and see how I used the Frame Punch Board to showcase the photos !

Here is another tip : you can use the « negatives » of the frames as labels to place under some titles and embellishments and even to mat some photos !

Valentine Banner

Hello everyone! Soraya here with you today to share an easy tutorial to make your very own valentine banner! February is the month of love, hearts, bows … so let’s make our craft more romantic too!  We’ll see how to create one cute banner using the Banner Punch Board, how to create the word « LOVE » thanks to the Alphabet Punch Board, the Staple Board and sparkles, then we’ll make cute bows using the 1,2,3 Punch Board! Let’s go !

Valentine Banner by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers

The Banner Punch Board is one amazing tool since it allows us to create 3 different shapes : pennant,  flag and crest banner! So to make this valentine banner, I’m going to use the 3 shapes in different sizes : the crest banner measures  (5×5,5 inch) :

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-2

The flag banner measures (10×5,5 inch)

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-3

And the triangle banner measures (4×5,5 inch)

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-4

If you want to see more about this great tool, feel free to visit the We R Memory Keepers YouTube channel !

And here  is what you get when you finally cut them all ! Don’t hesitate to use different patterned papers or basic cardstocks to play on the contrasts. The crest ones will be placed on the flags and the triangle shaped will be placed inbetween them , so you’ll need 5 triangles, 4 crests and 4 flags. Don’t forget to punch the holes with the little punch you have on the top of the Banner Punch Board.

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-5

Now, let’s decorate the flags! To make these cute little white bows, I used the fantastic 1,2,3 Punch Board. As you might know there is a size chart on this tool that allows you to chose how big you want your bow to be. I chose the medium (M) size, so I needed to cut 3 different stripes of white cardstock (according to the chart) before assembling them. (watch the video tutorial by Aly here)

With some glitter tape, doilies and wooden clips I could easily decorate each pennant. The result is soft and cute!

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-7

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-8

It’s time to put some love on this banner ! I used the Alphabet Punch Board and I also followed the instructions you can find in the little book to cut the letters L.O.V.E.  If you don’t know this punch yet then grab one asap you will love it !!

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-9

For the glitter to stick on the letters, I put some double sided red tape on the bottom part of each letter. Then I started putting the clearest color on the top, took off the excess, put the medium shade, took off the excess and finally put the last color.

Love how it finally turned !

valentinebanner-by-soraya-maes-12

Before assembling the banner with pink twine, I used the Staple Board to attach the letters directly on the banner. The transparent guide (genius guide indeed !) helped me to place the staple where I wanted, so easy and so fun !

And voilà ! This valentine banner is now ready to be hanged up !

Planner Spread

Hello there! Soraya here to share with you a fun and creative planner spread using the fantastic We R Memory Keepers new release, the Tab Punch Board, and my favorite tool so far, the Photo Sleeve Fuse!

Planner Page featuring the Tab Punch Board and the Photo Sleeve Fuse by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers

I love using my planner to organize my everyday life, but also to document the best moments. And as a scrapbooker I can’t resist adding more journaling and embellishments to my planner spreads!

So today I wanted to show you how I created the dividers of my planners with the Tab Punch Board. So easy and so fun! First of all I selected 12 different patterned papers  to fit the 12 months of the year. Then I used the Tab Punch Board to create all the tabs. I used the small size so that they can all fit on the edge of my planner. And finally, I punched again 12 tabs to layer them on the dividers and to decorate with months and numbers. I love the result–each month has its own patterned divider!

Now for the planner spread! I used the Fuse Tool and one waterfall sleeve (4x4in) to create a glitter photo pocket. How exciting is it to add sparkles and pockets to your planner? Love it!

The Tab Punch Board is not only perfect to create dividers or tabs, it’s also a great tool to use if you want to organize your planner board! This is how I used a tab to set my wooden paper clips! So cool!

Hi everyone, my name is Soraya Maes, I’m a 36 year old mom and wife living in the French Riviera, Southern France. I started scrapbooking in 2005 when I discovered a great community of ladies who were sharing their creations and techniques through blogs and videos… this is how I’ve been hooked ! But scrapbooking has always been a part of me since I started documenting my everyday life and special moments in notebooks when I was 11. This is probably why I love journaling so much !

I feel so honored and excited to be a We R Memory Keepers DT member !
