Easter Countdown

Hello friends! Aly Dosdall here to share a fun project idea for the upcoming Easter holiday. My kids always look forward to holidays, and one of their favorite ways to celebrate them is with a countdown.

The Mini Envelope Punch Board is the perfect tool for making countdown-size envelopes that you can fill with fun holiday activity ideas, stickers, small treats, etc.

I started by selecting a pretty ombre print from the new DCWV Spring Bloom Premium Stack available at JoAnn Stores. Since the Premium Stacks are double sided, they’re perfect for this project. I followed the directions on the Mini Envelope Punch Board for making 2 1/2 inch square envelopes. For my countdown I made 9 of them.

Once I finished making all my envelopes, I punched out nine 2 1/2 inch squares of smooth white Bazzill Basics cardstock with my Square Punch Board. I love that tool, and I swear I’ve used it more often than I expected I would!

I made a list of fun Easter activities that my kids love to do, and typed them up on the white squares with my Typecast Typwriter.

The Crate Paper Magnet Studio is the perfect way to display this countdown. I added a vinyl cling border to the top of the 9×13 magnetic board, and then spelled out “EASTER” with the 3 inch gold magnetic letters.

Using my Spring Loaded Scissors, I trimmed 1 inch long pieces of a self-adhesive magnetic strip and added them to the backs of the envelopes.

I added the magnet-backed mini envelopes to the board and filled them with the typed Easter activity squares I made. Then I embellished and numbered each of the envelopes and the project title with stickers and die cuts from the Crate Paper Chasing Dreams collection, and Thickers from the Crate Paper Good Vibes collection.

I love how this turned out, and my girls are really excited to get started on this countdown the week before Easter!

Tab Punch Board Scrapbook Page

Hi! Welcome to the We R blog! It’s Eva Pizarro here today sharing a layout made with some of my favorite We R tools!

Tab Punch Board Scrapbook Page by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

The Tab Punch Board is perfect for making folders and planner dividers but I love to use it on my layouts too! IN this layout I use it to add hidden photographs and you could also use it to add a hidden journaling! I also used my Fringe and Score Tool to cut perfect strips of paper to create my background. I use a lot of paper strips in my layouts and this is a quick way to make them!

With the Tab Punch Board you can make tabs anywhere you want, and in different widths too, it’s really easy to use.

The perfect match for your tabs is the Typecast Typewriter and the tiny stickers strips you can find in their collection. I used my Typecast to add my journaling and titles for my tabs.

I placed my tabs underneath my picture, each tab has a photograph of the species we saw at an exhibit last spring.

For this layout I used the Tealightful collection by our sister brand Pebbles, I think it is perfect for my Spring photos!

Easter Table Setting

Easter is such a special time of the year. For me, it’s a time of reflection and the hope of new beginnings. My family especially looks forward to a lovingly prepared meal around the table. I don’t go crazy with the décor, but I do enjoy putting together a themed table setting for holidays and special events.

This year, I will be adding some bright notes with fresh whites. I love how the candy colours bounce off the neutral tones!

It’s no secret that I am just a little smitten with DIY Party Honeycomb Pads. How adorable are these little eggs! So quick and easy to make, they bring such a sense of fun and nostalgia to the table.

Take your Honeycomb pad and you will notice that it is divided into two sections. I split the sections, as I find it quite tricky to accurately cut such a dense amount of paper by hand. For my little eggs, I have selected the Egg shape template from the DIY Party Honeycomb Stencils pack. Choosing the smallest size, I then used a pencil to trace inside the guide. NOTE: I traced two identical shapes for each egg, as I wanted a nice full shape. When I was done, I used scissors to cut along the pencil guide. I then adhered the two shapes together like a sandwich, opened it up like a fan and glued the ends together to secure in the dome shape.

Another sweet decorative element I have added to my table are some Candy Boxes. These would make fantastic Christmas crackers too. Best of all, you could stuff them with whatever takes your fancy! Creating these in Template Studio with the Candy Box Guide was a breeze.

Inside the Template Studio Starter Kit you will notice there are some guides included, as well as two types of tools. The dark grey one is the cutting blade and the aqua one is a scoring tool.  We will be using both, along with the guides to create the boxes.

I have chosen the smallest of the sizes offered on the instructional cards for the Candy Box template. This one called for a 13.5 x 11.5 inch sheet of paper. (The straight guides in the starter kit can be used to cut down large sheets of paper.) I then placed the box guide into the allotted marker points and using the blade and scoring tools, went about as per the instructions.

What you will end up with are diamond-shaped cuts with score lines. These fold up easily to create the cracker/candy box shape. Glue the ends shut and tie up the sides with some ribbon or twine.

I’ve chosen twine as it adds a natural touch to the table (especially when used with some carefully selected artificial botanicals!)

Throwback Thursday: Spring Banner

Welcome to Throwback Thursday! I’m your blog hostess, Aly Dosdall, and I’ll be revisiting some of my favorite blog projects from past years every now and then on Thursdays. I think it’s fun to look at past projects with a fresh set of eyes–you can always find new inspiration and more current ways to interpret them. Plus, if you missed them last time around now you get to enjoy them!

Today I’m throwing it back to this lovely spring rosette banner from last year. I used lots of our dies and the Evolution for this and it just makes me happy.

The soft colors and shapes really emphasize the spring feel of this project. I used one of my favorite past collections–Chalkboard. Yum!

And be sure to come back tomorrow for a gorgeous spring mini album by design team member Traci Penrod!
