Father’s Day Mini Book

Hello friends, Laura here this Monday with a Father’s Day gift idea for the special dad in your life. I created a little mini accordion banner book that says, “I ♥ DAD” when opened. There are a few places to add photos to make the gift personalized for your dad.

Father's Day Mini Book by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

I started by created ten banner shapes using my paper trimmer and banner punch board. I cut each rectangle to 4 ½” x 6 inches using the Trim & Score board. I chose various shades of blue paper from the DCWV Nautical Mile cardstock stack.

We R Memory Keepers Trim and Score Board

I lined up one edge of the longer side of the paper with the 4-inch mark on the banner punch board. This will create a somewhat uneven banner because there will be an extra half inch on the left side of the banner shape.

We R Memory Keepers Banner Punch Board

Use the Trim & Score board to score each banner shape at ½” on the left side of the banner shape. This will be the flap we use to connect all the banner pieces together.

We R Memory Keepers Trim and Score Board

Next, I used the mini alphabet punch board to create the letters I, D, A, and D.

I created a striped heart with the Clear Cut heart punch.

I wanted to make little tags to place each of the letters and heart onto. The tag punch board made this easy. I cut rectangles that were 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches using my Trim & Score board. Then, I used the tag punch board to create the tag edges and punch a hole in the top.

Tag Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers

I added a red eyelet to the top of each tag using my Crop-A-Dile.

We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile

Now that I had all the pieces cut out, it was time to assemble the book. Use adhesive to attach each letter and the heart to a tag shape. Then, attach each tag to a separate banner piece. To assemble all the banner pieces together, use adhesive to attach the flap of one banner to another one. Leave a blank banner between the letters and the heart on either side.

Father's Day Mini Book by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

There will be a slight overlap where you glue the banner pieces together. Simply trim off the excess paper using your scissors.

Father's Day Mini Book by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

To create a more finished book, I glued the first and last banner piece to the back side of the banner piece next to it, so there was a total of ten banner pieces, but only eight banner pieces show when the book is spread out. I also added a little ribbon into the pieces I glued together on the front and back, so I could tie the book together on the left side when it was closed.

Father's Day Mini Book by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Once everything is glued together you can fold the banner pieces like an accordion to close the book.

The book was cute as is, but I thought it would be fun to add pictures of the kids to the inside. I resized black and white photos of the kids to 3 x 4 inches. I printed them on my home computer, trimmed them down and added them to the blank pages. On the front cover I matted the picture on an extra piece of patterned paper that matched the letters inside.

There is room to add two more pictures on the last two pages of the book, so you could add up to a total of five photos.

Father's Day Mini Book by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

Dad can flip through the album with it tied together, or you can spread it out like a traditional banner if you untie the ribbon.

Summer Card with the Precision Press Advanced

Hey there We R fans, Nancy here today with a punch of summer crafting! Let’s gather some favorite tools and create a quick and simple seasonal card.

Summer Card with the Precision Press Advanced by Nancy Damiano for We R Memory Keepers

The We R Tag Punch Board is the best tool for creating tags of all sizes. A few simple adjustments and you have the perfectly cut tag and hole punch to boot. Tags are a great way to anchor smaller embellishments on a card.

Use foam tape under the tag to create a shadowbox with a bright yellow background. This is a great frame for the flower embellishments. Place a blue flag across the circular opening and center the floral sticker in the center with foam tape for a little lift.

Summer Scrapbook Page

Hey there, We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, I’m Becki Adams here to share a layout with you that I created with a few of my favorite We R Memory Keepers tools. There are some tools that I always keep near my desk at my fingertips. The laser square is one tool that is always on my desk. My husband will tell you that I can’t measure or put items in a straight line to save my life. That’s why I love the Laser Square so much! It makes measuring and alignment a breeze.

Summer Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

One of my favorite “go to” designs is a grid. I love the clean simple lines of a grid layout.

On this “Summer in Central Park” layout I used four 4×3 photos in an offset grid design. The photos are in a straight line, but they are slightly of set from the other column. The Laser Square made it so easy to make sure that my photos were in a straight line especially on a solid background.

Summer Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

Another tool that I love and keep near my desk at all times is my Stitch Happy Sewing machine. I love the added detail that machine stitching gives my layouts. Thread/stitching is also a great “adhesive.” Once something is stitched onto a layout, there’s no worries of it falling off the layout after a long period of time. A layout that has machine stitching will always stay together.

Ever since I started scrapbooking years (and years) ago, I loved using tags. At first, I always purchased shipping tags at my local office supply store. Now that the Tag Punch Board is in my office, I’ve been making custom tags for all of my projects.

Summer Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

On this layout I made a custom tag for the title. It was fun to make the tag just the right size for the letter stickers. Of course, I didn’t forget the custom hole reinforcer that I punched out with my We R Memory Keepers Hole Reinforcer punch.

Graduation Scrapbook Page

Hey there, We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, Becki here to share with you a scrapbook page that I created with a few of my favorite tools. I’ve always been a memory keeper at heart. I LOVE photos and love pairing them with memories even more. I’m a traditional scrapbooker who loves lots of photos and lots of journaling. I gravitate toward tools that make creating even easier and more fun. I used a lot of We R Memory Keeper tools to create this layout.

It’s the season for graduation and with graduations comes a TON of photos. A couple of years ago my last little man graduated from Kindergarten. Of course, I was a teary mess as my little man, sang with is class, and received his diploma. My husband and I took turns taking photos. We have a few great photos of the day. I used three of these photos on this layout. I knew I wanted these three photos on the same layout (on a grid design) and I had quite a bit of journaling with each photo.

Graduation Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

Each photo is 3 ½ x 5” printed in black and white. The photos are printed in black and white because, well, the ceremony was in the school’s gym and the lighting was awful.  I laid the photos on a grid design using my Laser Square to line everything up. Once I had the placement of my photos figured out, I adhered the photos using strong double-sided tape along 3 sides of the photo. I left one side of the photo without adhesive so that I could slide a tag behind each photo for hidden journaling.

Graduation Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

The three tags that slide behind each photo are created with the tag punch board and the hole reinforcer punch. Tags are one of my favorite embellishments and I LOVE tucking them behind photos with additional photos and journaling. The tags are perfect for adding typed journaling which I did after I took the photos as there was personal information on them.

Graduation Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

The stars that are scattered throughout the layout are fussy cut with the new spring scissors. These are my new favorite scissors for fussy cutting. Fussy cutting is one of my favorite techniques. I’m thrilled to have a new favorite pair of scissors for all of my fussy cutting needs.

Graduation Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

To finish the layout and make sure that everything stays in place, I added a few lines of stitching with my Stitch Happy sewing machine. I love that machine! My favorite feature of this machine is that it stitched with thicker (embroidery type) thread.

Graduation Scrapbook Page by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

I couldn’t be happier with how this Kindergarten graduation layout came together. This day has so many precious memories for our family and I’m so happy to have them documented. I could have created this layout without my favorite We R Memory Keepers tools, but it wouldn’t have been as easy or as enjoyable. Don’t we all have our favorite tools that we love using and that makes crafting a little more fun? I’d love to know, what are your favorite crafting tools? Let me know in the comments below.

Memory Planner Scrapbook Page

Happy Friday friends! It’s Aly here with you again, and I’m really excited to share a special Memory Planner spread with you for National Scrapbook Day. Most of my memory keeping these days either happens in my planner, a traveler’s notebook, or a pocket style album. My daughter and I recently took a trip to Boston and New York City, so I recorded some memories on the April spread in my Heidi Swapp monthly planner.

Memory Planner Scrapbook Page by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I love scrapbooking on a smaller scale in my planner where I’m recording details about my life anyway. It just makes sense with my busy schedule, and saves me time while still allowing me to capture important memories.

Memory Planner Scrapbook Page by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I used the new DCWV Journaling Premium Stack and the Okey Dokey Stack to embellish my planner spread. The Journaling Stack is full of labels, cards, tags, and other goodies you can punch out and use for journaling in or embellishing your planner.

Heatwave Pen by We R Memory Keepers

I used my Heatwave Pen, some gold foil, and a Heatwave Template to add some gold metallic handwriting to the left side of the planner spread. I love the sparkle it adds!

Next I created a DIY accent tag with my Tag Punch Board as a layer in a cluster of embellishments. I love that I can customize the size and shape of my tag with this awesome punch board!

I was able to add plenty of journaling about our trip by typing it onto some cards from the Journaling Stack, and including the cards in an envelope I made with the Mini Envelope Punch Board.

Accordion Fold Card Organizer

Hello WeR fans and welcome back to the blog today! It’s Chantalle back with you today to show you how a great way to organize your handmade cards and tags. I’ve had the joy of working with some amazing new release paper pads by DCWV these last few weeks and let me tell you, they are definitely worth adding to your stash! The two stacks I’d like to focus on today are the ‘Die Cut Shapes’ which features loads of die cut shapes and gold foil accents and ‘Just my Type’.

DIY Accordion Card Organizer by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

This organizer was supposed to be a little card and envelope gift set for someone (and still could be if I can bare to let go of it lol!) but it sort of morphed into a bit more than that and now contains an assortment of little cards and tags that I can turn to when I’m in need of last minute gift tag or thank you note.

DIY Accordion Card Organizer by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers
The accordion fold looked simple at first. I searched the web for a suitable technique and will admit to struggled a bit in the beginning, fine tuning it for my purposes. Now that I know how it turns out, you will definitely spend less time on it if you wish to create a similar little folder for yourself!

The base for the folder is made out of 1 sheet of 12×12 paper. I tried cardstock and patterned paper but neither yielded the results I was looking for. I settled for a thinner paper and the perfect weight for this job was from a sheet of DCWV ‘Celebrations’ 12×12 Stack. The paper is single sided and folded really nicely.

I first tried ¾ inch score lines on my  Score Board but that width didn’t fold up quite as well on ½ an inch. I scored across the paper, every half inch and then rotated the paper anti clockwise and scored again at 3 and 9 inches respectively. I then folded the larger sections in towards themselves (see pic 2 below) to deepen the score line.

Folding the paper up into a long line once more, I then tucked and folded up the folds in the accordion. Watching a video will make this seem a bit less complex. Click here for some selections:

We R Memory Keepers Score Board

As you can see, I tried a couple of times to get the ends to stand up nicely so that I could add my cardstock dividers. A 12×12 sheet of paper created this folder which has 11 pockets and is 6 inches across and just over 3 inches high. This would be really great to organize project life cards as well!

In between the accordion pockets, I popped some printed cardstock dividers from the fabulous DCWV ‘Just my Type’ 12×12 Stack. This gorgeous pad is bright and beautiful and has awesome clear embossing elements! The dividers are just a touch under 6 inches across and 3 inches high. You may have to tweak them to fit perfectly, to suit your folding etc.

The next step was to add tabs to the dividers, so I can see at a glance what each pocket contains!

My Typecast Typewriter was perfect for this task. I typed my headings directly onto the patterned paper and then used my Tab Punch Board to punch out the tab shapes. These were then glued to the pockets.

Now that I had my folder ready, it was time to fill it with a selection of cards and tags!

I cut several pieces of Bazzill cardstock in various shades, each 3×6 inches across. I then use my Mini Score Board (heart eyes for this little tool, seriously!!) to score at 3 inches across so I could get a nice neat fold.

Mini Score Board

Embellishing my cards was SO easy, thanks to the Die Cut Shapes stack. This baby is packed full of various shapes and colors and all to use at the drop of a hat – simply pop out the shape you want and adhere! TIP: At times you will get the little ‘grips’ that stick around after you have popped a die cut shape out of the stencil. These are easy to nip off with a bit of fine sandpaper or another fave new tool, my little Detail Scissors.

Here are some cards I created using various die cuts, which I have just added some detail to with little embellies like enamel dots, glossy accents, ribbon or machine stitching.

Unicorns for the win!

Some super quick generic cards. TIP: I’ve brought out a bit of detail on the flowers using some Crystal Drops which you can get in various shades online.

Cheerful notes sure to brighten someone’s day!

I’ve highlighted the gold foil on the bird die cut with some Vicki Boutin Rub-Ons. I find it really annoying when a rub-on is difficult to, erm rub on. But these go on like a breeze! I used my Embossing Stylus to apply them.

DIY Accordion Card Organizer by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

Here are some larger tags I included in the set. They are also from the die cut pad. I’ve snipped the top corners off using my Tag Punch Board and run some ribbon through them so they’re ready to use. A bit of detail has also been added to them in the form of finding an ‘echo’ shape like the bigger bird or flower and adding it with some foam tape to the tag for some dimension.

DIY Accordion Card Organizer by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

I also created some mini tags from various shapes like emoji’s. This pad is so full of variety, I have no doubt you will find the exact shape you are looking for.

Lastly, I need some co-ordinating envelopes for these guys! I used my DCWV ‘Celebrations’ 12×12 Stack again as the paper is perfect for envelopes. To make these mini beauties, I used the oh-so-adorable Mini Envelope Punch Board. This little punchboard will create envelopes for cards up to 4×4 inches.

The cute baby brother to the Envelope Punch Board!

A little random pocket I added was a ‘Bits & Pieces’ section. I’ve put some little embellies here like paperclips etc to adhere your card or tag to a gift. I’ve also folded up some cut ribbon sections and added some clear circular stickers.

I’ve already used one of the thank you cards for a friend of mine who recently went to Japan and brought me back of the most incredible handmade paper!

DIY Tag Bookmarks

Hey there, We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, Becki here to share some fun and EASY tag bookmarks with you. Of course, I created these bookmarks with a few of my favorite We R Memory Keepers tools that you can find at JoAnn’s stores. I have a LOT of nieces who love to read. They all love bookmarks too!

DIY Tag Bookmarks by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

I sat down with a few We R Memory Keepers tools, the Tag Pad from DCWV and within a few minutes I had several bookmarks to share with my nieces.

I loved playing with the Tag Stack from DCWV they have so many versatile patterns within on paper pad. There are so many cute designs that you can punch right out of the papers. There are also double sided patterned papers. That’s what I used to create the base of the bookmarks.

The two We R Memory Keepers tools that I reach for all.the.time are my trim and score board and my crop-a-dile. My crop-a-dile is one of the most used/oldest tools in my stash. I’ve had this tool for years and I still reach for it almost daily.

DIY Tag Bookmarks by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

The trim and score board cuts perfectly each time. One of my favorite features of the trim and score board is that it folds in half for easy storage. Space in my craft room is always at a premium so a compact tool is my favorite.

DIY Tag Bookmarks by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

While we’re talking about favorite tools, I used another favorite tool to add the finishing touch to these bookmarks. I personalized each bookmark with my niece’s name. I simply typed their names on a piece of white cardstock and stapled the strip of white cardstock at the bottom of the bookmark. I love my typecast typewriter. If you have typecast typewriter you must get the cover for it. Let me tell you, it’s a life saver. We’re working on a major construction project at our house and there is dust everywhere. I’m SO glad that I have a dust cover on my typewriter. It’s so nice not to worry about my typewriter getting dirty.

DIY Mini Album

Hey there, We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, Becki here, to share a mini album that I created with a few new tools. I had some much fun creating this mini album. I love working with the new tools. A couple of these new tools have a permanent home on top of my desk. First of all, the new Spring Scissors are a favorite of mine. This love comes naturally because I love fussy cutting. These scissors are perfect for fussy cutting!

DIY Mini Album by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

The base of this album is created from scratch with patterned paper. Each page is carefully cut with the trim and score board. This trimmer is my new go-to trimmer. I love having two tools built into one. Another of my favorite features of this tool is that it folds into a compact size so it’s easy to store or take with you for crafting on the go.

The other tool, I’ve fallen in love with is the Sticky Piercer. This tool makes placing small items like sequins so easy. There are tons of tiny sequins through-out this mini album.

Baby Shower Decor

Happy Friday We R fans! Aly Dosdall here again to share some baby themed decor that I made with a few of my favorite new tools. This simple banner and cake topper set would be perfect for a baby birthday party, a baby shower, or any other baby themed event. You could also change out the words to fit any celebration or event you’re hosting. Check out what I made with my Happy Jig, Tag Punch Board, and a few other handy tools!

The pretty pastel papers I used for the tag banner are from the new DCWV Inc Okey Dokey and Journaling Stacks which you can find at JoAnn stores.

Baby Shower Decor by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Happy Jig, the Square Punch Board, the Staple Board and the Tag Punch Board

Let’s start with making the tag banner! First I made my letters with the Happy Jig tool and the gold wire that comes with the kit. You can find instructions for making all the capital letters of the alphabet (plus dozens of other cool designs) on our dedicated Instagram feed here: @werhappyjig.

After I made the letters, I measured their size to determine how large to cut my DIY tags. I used my Square Punch Board to punch out five 2 3/4 x 4 inch rectangles. If you haven’t gotten a Square Punch Board I highly recommend it. I use it all the time for punching out bulk rectangles and squares for all kinds of paper craft projects!

Then I created the tags with my Tag Punch Board, layering a 7/8 inch paper over them that I cut off of the top of a same size tag made with some coordinating paper.

Baby Shower Decor by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers featuring the Happy Jig and the Tag Punch Board

Once I finished making all my letters and tags, I stapled them together with small staples using the Staple Board. I finished off my banner by adding some pink Stitch Happy Twine to the tops of the tags, and then taping them to a length of twine for hanging.

After finishing the banner, I made the word “baby” with my Happy Jig for a cake topper. I copied the letters from other words on the Instagram feed and in the included instruction booklet to get “baby”. You can totally create your own words by using the letters from other word designs and linking them together. It’s fun to play around and experiment with making your own words.

Here’s a close up shot of which pegs you’ll need to make the word “baby” and where you need to place them.

We R Memory Keepers Happy Jig: Baby

I left a few extra inches on both ends of the word so I could attach it to my bamboo skewers before adding it to the cake. I twisted the excess wire around the skewers, but you could tie yours with twine, use a bit of hot glue, or some mini glue dots.

I love how the wire designs add some unique texture and a fun flare to my baby shower decor. I can tell I’m going to get a ton of use out of my Happy Jig!

Scrapbook Page with the Happy Jig

Hey there We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, Becki here to share with you a layout that I created with the Happy Jig. My kids and I have had so much fun playing with this new tool. Yes, it’s easy enough for kids to play with. The Happy Jig makes awesome unique embellishments for scrapbooking.

Happy Jig layout by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

I chose to create a layout with three adorable green wire cacti to document my recent trip to Arizona. It was so easy to create these three cacti with green wire and a little bit of patterned paper. I started by creating three cacti according to the directions in the instruction booklet. After I had the wire outlines created, I added patterned paper behind each wire shape.

Happy Jig by We R Memory Keepers

To add the patterned paper, I used a strong craft glue to adhere the wire to the paper. I waited until after the glue was dry before I trimmed around the cacti. Of course, I used my favorite new Crafter Essential Details Scissors to trim around the edges of the cacti. They worked perfectly.

When it was time to add these wire embellishments to the layout I used dimensional adhesive. I wanted these awesome embellishments to pop off of the page.

I used a few more We R Memory Keeper tools to complete this layout. The main photo on this layout is stitched in place on three sides to create a pocket.

Then I created a few tags with the Tag Punch board to add a few more photos and journaling. I always reach for my Typecast Typewriter when it’s time to add journaling. I love adding typewritten journaling to my layouts.
